Numerical and physical modelling of dam-break flood waves in X-T and R-T space

Al-Salihi, Adnan H. January 1986 (has links)
The techniques for computing dam-break flood waves in prismatic channels are reviewed. Numerical models for cases with or without an initially dry downstream bed are developed. The models are based on the characteristic forms of the shallow water equations, both in (X-T) and (R-T) space, using specified time intervals and incorporating the Rankine-Hugoniot shock equations. Three numerical models for rectangular section channels are studied, namely the parallel (X-T), the expanded (R-T) and the contracted (R-T) cases; any two of these are then linked to produce three further models, described as the Contracted-Plain (RT-XT), the Contracted-Expanded (RT-RT) and the Plain-Expanded (XT-RT) models. Four physical models were tested and compared with results from the numerical models and with those from Barr and Das (1980), Marshall and Menendez (1981) and Katopodes and Schamber (1983). The numerical and experimental results are given in the form of comparative plots of front heights, surface profiles, front trajectories and depth hydrographs. Variations from the well-known solutions by Ritter (1892) and Stoker (1957), including those caused by radial flow effects are found to occur and are discussed.

Hydro-synoptic analysis of floods on Berounka basin This thesis she aims to analyze the meteorological causes of floods, a database foundation flood situation and determine the potential effect of Šumava and Brdy flow of flood wave in Beroun. Overall, the relatively high impact of floods in Beroun have Úhlava (Šumava flow) and Klabava (Brdy flow). We can say that closer ties to the Šumava streams. Undoubtedly contributes to the shape of the basin after Serrated profile Plzen - Bílá Hora. Analysis of the meteorological causes of observed recurrent selected weather situations, but the most extreme floods (1978.1981, 2002) were caused by both type C. A detailed examination of the flood flows in the basin was prepared Berounka bank flood episodes. Keywords: Flood, the flood wave, basin Berounka, causal situation, hydro-synoptic analysis.

Comparative studies between the kinematic and diffusive waves on the flood routing analisys, in function of hydraulics parameters of the watershed / Estudo Comparativo dos Modelos da Onda CinemÃtica e da Onda Difusiva na AnÃlise de PropagaÃÃo de Cheias, em FunÃÃo dos ParÃmetros HidrÃulicos da Bacia

Vanessa Ueta Gomes 08 August 2006 (has links)

Posouzení přehrad za povodní / Assessment of dam safety during the floods

Hala, Mario January 2015 (has links)
The Diploma thesis deals with the safety assesment of the small water reservoir Bartošovice III during the floods, according to requirments of TNV 75 2935 (technical standard). First two chapters are devoted to the description of the dam purpose. Following chapter deals with the summary of basic information and documentation, including hydraulic analysis. In the following section maximum permissible safe water level is determined together with the maximum check flood water level in reservoir which reflects the flood wave transformation. In the final evaluation the comparison of the maximum permissible safe water level with maximum check flood level is carried out. At the end of the thesis recommendations leading to ensuring of reliability and safety of water reservoir are listed.

Opatření pro zvýšení transformační schopnosti inundačního území Svitavy v úseku Holásky – Chrlice / Measures to increase the transformation capacity of the Svitava inundation area in the Holásky - Chrlice section

Havran, David Unknown Date (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the possibilities of using the left inundation area of Svitava river for purposes of transformation of the 100-years flood wave in Svitava. The area of interest is located on the territory of the Holásky and Chrlice city districts. SMS software with a hydraulic two-dimensional simulation model SRH was used to simulate the flow in the current state and variant solutions of the proposed state. Based on the results of the flow in the current state, two variant solutions of the proposed state were designed and simulated. The result of this work is the quantification of the change in the transformation capabilities of the area of interest in both proposed variants and followed by a recommendation.

Analýza vlivu potenciálně vybudovaného vodního díla na odtok vody z vybraného povodí pomocí hydrologického modelování

REZEK, Alfred January 2019 (has links)
The object of this dissertation is to describe the influence of water works on the outflow from a watershed through the Hydrologic Modelling System Hec HMS. It is a direct application to the particular watershed of the Bílský Stream. In the theoretical part about relevant literature, solutions to the topics related to this issue are found. It focuses especially on the water balance in the watershed; the outflow from the watershed and other factors by which the watershed is influenced; extreme flows and flood activity with appropriate security steps such as water basins. At the end of the part on the literature, there are five different systems for creating hydrologic models with the specialisation on the Hec HMS model. The practical part is about preparing input data for the hydrologic model and its subsequent creation. Particular runoff from different N-year precipitation (N = 2, 10, 50 and 100) are compared. Two hydrologic models have been created for comparison, one with the watershed without a reservoir and the second one with a reservoir included. The resultant part is about watching flows, volumes of runoffs and the tranformation of the flood wave in a reservoir between N-year precipitation and two different models of watershed.
