Teacher Talk in the Swedish EFL Classroom for Grades 4-6 : Ways to promote pupils' development of communicative abilitiesPettersson, Jonas January 2023 (has links)
Given the explicit focus of compulsory schooling in Sweden on providing pupils with opportunities to develop their communicative abilities, all available resources should be utilised to their fullest potential - one of these resources being the way a teacher talks to and with their pupils, i.e., their teacher talk. Previous research in the field has had its focus on non-Swedish classroom contexts and has primarily considered the impacts of teacher talk on learners in secondary school or above. This study therefore set out to contribute to the field by observing Swedish EFL lessons for grades 4-6 and interviewing the teachers of these lessons. The observations show that different teacher-talk categories were employed at varied frequencies, some noticeably more widely represented than others. Additionally, valuable insight was gained from the interviews into teachers’ reflections on their didactic choices made regarding teacher talk. Some of the teachers’ choices correlated with those found in previous research, such as the rationale for direct translations from L2 to L1. On the other hand, it emerged that teachers perceived that some teacher-talk categories were utilised more in the higher grades, in contrast with the results noted in the observations of this study. This could suggest that teachers were not utilising all available resources effectively and possibly could benefit from further support and/or training in how to use their teacher talk consciously. To comprehensively evaluate which, to what extent, and why different teacher-talk categories are represented, further research should focus on a prolonged engagement in longitudinal studies of Swedish EFL classrooms representing a greater variety and number of schools as well as participating teachers.

[en] DISTRIBUTIONS AND IMMERSIONS / [pt] DISTRIBUIÇÕES E IMERSÕESDAVID REY 18 July 2008 (has links)
objetos singulares. Como as distribuições generalizam as
funções e permitem derivações infinitas, substituição das
parametrizações de subvariedades clássicas por
distribuições poderia naturalmente generalizar as
subvariedades suaves.
generaliza as imersões suaves.
e casos particulares. / [en] The challenge of studying shapes has led mathematicians
to create powerful abstract concepts, in particular
through Differential Geometry. However, differential
tools do not apply to simple shapes like cubes. This work
is an attempt to use modern advances of the Analysis,
namely Distribution Theory, to extend differential
quantities to singular objects. Distributions generalize
functions, while allowing infinite differentiation. The
substitution of classical immersions, which usually serve
as submanifold parameterizations, by distributions might
thus naturally generalize smooth immersion. This leads to
the concept of D-immersion. This work proves that this
formulation actually generalizes smooth immersions.
Extensions to non-smooth of immersions are discussed
through examples and specific cases.

Hudba v českých filmech Miloše Formana / Music in Czech Movies Made by Milos FormanFranc, Adam January 2011 (has links)
The thesis deals with a musical aspect in Czech films directed by Miloš Forman. The topic is investigated within a wider context of musical culture of the 1960s as it is focused on analysis of cultural phenomena associated with musical expression which left their impression on Forman's films and participated, to great extent, in specificity of their soundtracks. So the films are not analyzed as separate artifacts, but they are considered as documents affected by the social climate at that time. Common social phenomena which were an integral part of Forman's films are studied such as dancing parties, twist and radio broadcasting. The Forman's cooperation with the Semafor theatre is analyzed as well as how Semafor poetics influenced his films. Jiří Suchý's lyrics and the period hits classified as the medium pop music stream are carefully analyzed as they are an important part of Forman's films. A short outline of the cinematographic context of the 1960s and comparison with films thematically similar help to specify Forman's approach to the music aspect. The collage-like structure of the work highlights a few contradictory trends in pop music of the 1960s whose variety can be seen in Forman's films.

The white Christian churches' responses to the Black manifestoSousa, William Noel 01 January 1973 (has links)
The problem of this thesis is to describe, classify, and analyze the formal responses that the white Christian churches made to Mr. Forman and the Black Manifesto. Such a problem encompasses a consideration of the following questions: What responses did the church give? What patterns developed within the responses? Why did the churches respond in the manner they did?

[en] GEOMETRIC DISCRETE MORSE COMPLEXES / [pt] COMPLEXOS DE MORSE DISCRETOS E GEOMÉTRICOSTHOMAS LEWINER 26 October 2005 (has links)
objetos suaves no
descrever no mundo discreto.
topologia deles, abrindo
essa teoria para estruturas discretas. Este trabalho
propõe uma definição
construtiva de funções de Morse geométricas no mundo
discreto e do
. . / [en] Differential geometry provides an intuitive way of
understanding smooth
objects in the space. However, with the evolution of
geometric modeling
by computer, this tool became both necessary and difficult
to transpose to
the discrete setting. The power of Morse theory relies on
the link it created
between differential topology and geometry. Starting from a
combinatorial
point of view, Forman´s discrete Morse theory relates
rigorously discrete
objects to their topology, opening Morse theory to discrete
structures.
This work proposes a constructive definition of geometric
discrete Morse
functions and their corresponding discrete Morse-Smale
complexes, where
the geometry is defined as a smooth function sampled on the
vertices of the
discrete structure. This construction required some
homology computations
that turned out to be a significant improvement over
existing methods
by itself. The resulting Morse-Smale decomposition can then
be efficiently
computed, and used for applications to persistence
computation, Reeb graph
generation, noise removal. . .

Proměny mediálního obrazu Miloše Formana v dobovém tisku / Transformations of Miloš Forman's media image in contemporary pressŘápek, Jan January 2019 (has links)
This master's thesis is devoted to the changes of Miloš Forman's media image, more precisely how period press noticed both his career and work. Miloš Forman is the most acknowledged and most famous czech film director. His story is connected with story of czech cinematography and story of its changes. The thesis wants to find out, why Forman wasn't destroyed even though he left the country, despite his emigration. It is trying to prove that his media image never been strictly negative and Forman itself never became taboo. Forman's person is beyond all standards. He is proof, that if the work is not strong crtitical against regime, it arouses respect despite all the ideology. He was reflected in the various stages, but still in relatively good light. The thesis examines the perception of the media in three life stages: work in Czechoslovakia before going to the United States, working abroad and finally after the Velvet Revolution. Although Forman has participated in many films, thesis focused only on his feature-length work. And because Miloš Forman is a person who transcends the borders of Czechoslovakia, or the Czech Republic, media abroad reflected his career as well, althought the view there was slightly different from the domestic one.
