Sport v československém denním tisku mezi lety 1918 a 1928 / Sport in czechoslovakian daily newspapers between years 1918 and 1928

Kalát, Ondřej January 2014 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the status and development of Czechoslovak sport journalism in daily newspapers between years 1918 and 1928. It is based on studies of five period newspapers - Národní listy, Lidové noviny, Národní politika, Právo lidu and České slovo. Given the paucity of original literature, these five printed materials are the main source of the analysis. The main aim of the thesis was to determine, how often and in which manner the journalists wrote about sport in that period and if the sports news became an inseparable part of newspaper in that period. One part of the analysis focuses on the people who wrote sport articles in those newspapers, if the sport journalism was their only specialization. It is also partly considered with the status of Czech sport photojournalism, sport advertising and reporting from the Olympic Games in that time. The opening three sections of the diploma thesis are mainly theoretical. The first one outlines the genesis of Czech sport journalism from its beginnings to the year 1918, when the profession became an independent branch of newspaper business. The second one describes the situation of Czech sport between years 1918 and 1928. And the third one characterizes the media situation in the Czechoslovakia in years 1918-1928, focusing on sports...

Antano Sutkaus kūryba: dokumentiškumo ir meniškumo simbiozė fotografijoje / The creation of antanas sutkus: the symbiosis of documentary and artostry in photography

Banuškevičiūtė, Giedrė 09 July 2011 (has links)
Magistro darbo objektas – Lietuvos fotomenininko Antano Sutkaus kūryba. Darbo tikslas – išnagrinėti A. Sutkaus kūrybą komunikacijos, antropologijos, meno, socialiniame ir pasaulinės fotografijos kontekstuose. Todėl negalima ignoruoti fakto, kad A. Sutkaus kūrybai įtakos... [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / It is inexpedient now to talk about is photography an art, or it isn’t. It’s a result of the concordance that there are some kind of symbiosis between artistry and documentary in photography. Additionally, photography has modified the protocol with industry, with science, with advertising, with journalism, with communication, with art, with everyday life… Consequently photography can’t yet be studied as an autonomous discipline. It is more productive to look at it in its applications in other fields. For this reason it is necessary to analyze the photographs of Antanas Sutkus, the famous Lithuanian photographer, in the fields of anthropology, of social and communication sciences and of art. The other problem is that various European countries, to say nothing of whole continents (for example so called Third World), have been left on the fringes of the histories of photography. To avoid this mistake it is purposeful to look at the photographs of Antanas Sutkus also in the context of the Western countries that have their own photographic traditions. Furthermore, there are some principal filters – cultural, ideological and political – that have determined the dominant historiographic models and the photographic tradition itself. The major part of Antanas’ Sutkus’ photographs were made when Lithuania was the constituent of the Soviet Union. Consequently it is imperative to talk about Soviet ideology that carried authority on the creation of Antanas Sutkus and on the entire... [to full text]

The paper focuses the career of photographer Stanislav Tereba, the only Czech winner of the main World Press Photo Prize. He succeeded with the photography of Miroslav Čtvrtníček, the soccer goalkeeper, played in Prague, Letna stadium. The paper deals mainly with Tereba's work in evening paper Vecerni Praha where the winning photography was paid a great attention there. Komparativní analýza obrazové složky magazínu Reportér a projektu Echo24 / Comparative analysis of the visual component in the magazine Reportér and project Echo24

Weingartová, Michaela January 2019 (has links)
The main goal of this thesis was to determine how projects Echo24 and Reporter work with journalistic photography using comparative analysis of their visual content. Both projects were found in 2014 as a reaction to a dramatical change of ownership of the Czech media. These changes also had an impact on journalistic photographers, because the new owners tend to save their costs on photography. This is also one of the reasons why I chose to analyze projects that started in 2014. To explain the broader context, in the first part of this thesis I describe the context of journalistic photography and the Czech media market development from the year 1989. In this work, I also describe other projects similar to Echo24 and Reportér. In the second part of the thesis, I use quantitative content analysis to describe the usage of the photographs in the printed version of Echo24 and Reportér. I also compare the collected data with answers from questionnaires with members of the editorial of the projects and photojournalists. In this paper, I found out that the project Echo24 represents the opposite approach towards photography than Reportér. Echo24, like other media, tends to save their cost on photography. Reportér on the other side can be defined as the protector of journalistic and photojournalistic values....

Obraz novináře ve videoherních titulech / Representation of journalists in videogames

Odstrčil, Tomáš January 2019 (has links)
The Representation of Journalists in Videogames aims to find out how do videogame developers represent journalists in the mainstream videogames. The analysis is based on five case studies of various videogames but it also includes sequels and prequels of the selected games. The author of this thesis analyzes nine videogame journalists which can be differentiated into several categories: investigative reporters, photojournalists, paparazzis, radio and TV reporters and hosts of various television shows. Their behavior is not the only aspect this thesis analyzes because their visual appearance is also fully in the hands of the game developers. This thesis proves that the videogame journalists are sometimes depicted stereotypically but if so, it is always for a reason. Videogame developers do not always use this sort of depictions and can even accurately describe journalistic practice and behavior. Journalism is always better described if the journalist is a heroic protagonist of their videogame. If they are villains, it is often described using various negative stereotypes.

Bedřich Kocek a česká novinářská fotografie / Bedřich Kocek and czech press photography

Sýkorová, Tereza January 2019 (has links)
The master thesis Bedřich Kocek and Czech Press Photography is concerned with the life and work of Bedřich Kocek - Czech photojournalist who worked in the renowned journal Svět v obrazech (translated as World in Pictures) for over thirty years. The theoretical part specifies the genre of journalistic photography and its development from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries to the 1980s. Furthermore, the development of the journal Svět v obrazech serves as an example for outlining the media and political context in Czechoslovakia since the end of World War II, when the periodical was established, until the 1980s, when Bedřich Kocek left the profession of a photojournalist. An especially valuable and vital part of the thesis is a chapter about the life of Bedřich Kocek, which has not been previously researched and described in detail. That section is based on personal interviews with the photographer using the oral history method. Moreover, the thesis explores the photographic work of Bedřich Kocek through the use of compositional analysis as well as the characteristic features of his pictures, which were part of the reports produced for Svět v obrazech.
