Dilema "mateřské" protichůdné strategie a vnímání mateřství u současných českých matek / The Dilemma of Maternity Leave: Competing Strategies and Perceptions of Motherhood Among Contemporary Czech Mothers

Hager, Kateřina January 2011 (has links)
This work provides an ethnography of maternity leave in the Czech Republic, analyzing the experiences, attitudes and reflections on motherhood among 14 Czech mothers living in Prague. Maternity leave in the Czech Republic distinguishes itself from that in many other western countries by virtue of its long-term nature - typically 3 to 4 years per child. Ultimately, this model for long-term home care, institutionally structured and culturally naturalized, has an essential impact on the position of woman in the family and in the society at large. Today, Czech mothers find themselves the default caretakers in the home but lacking the extended family support and networks accessed in the past, particularly acute in the context of culturally negative attitudes toward hired help and nurseries in the Czech Republic. Czech mothers also find themselves pinned between two ideologies - one stressing the importance of maternal care for the well-being of the child and another establishing the low status of staying home to raise a child in the context of the need for self-realization in a career. This ethnography teases out the sometimes reinforcing but often conflicting notions of what it is to be a mother through analyzing the biographical narratives of three identified groups of Czech women: mothers who have...

Seksualinis priekabiavimas Lietuvos ir užsienio valstybių baudžiamojoje teisėje / Sexual Harassment in Criminal Law of Lithuania and Foreign Countries

Gedminaitė, Aušra 24 January 2011 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / This work analyses one of five criminal acts against freedom of sexual self-determination and immunity, provided for in the 21st chapter of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania, which is sexual harassment. It was criminalized in 2003, when the new Lithuanian Criminal Code came into force. This paper is divided into three parts. In the first part of this work the author discusses the origins of the concept of sexual harassment and its phenomenon in Lithuania and in foreign countries. The second part of the work sets out to investigate the general social-legal aspects of this phenomenon. This part analyses the laws, regulating sexual harassment in Lithuania and in several foreign countries (i.e. Germany, Estonia, Finland, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, and Poland). It also reviews the international and EU documents, regulating sexual harassment. The third part of the work analyses the criminal-legal conception of sexual harassment and its aspects. The first section of this part is designed to investigate the criminal-legal conception of sexual harassment as such in general. The second section analyses criminal conception of sexual harassment in some foreign countries in particular (i.e. France, Austria, Italy, Hungary, and Portugal), including other laws regulating sexual harassment in those countries. The third section analyses the elements of sexual harassment which determine it as a criminal act, as provided for in the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania... [to full text]

A liberative imagination : reconsidering the fiction of Charlotte Brontë in light of feminist theology

Swanson, Kj January 2017 (has links)
This thesis seeks to show the ways in which Charlotte Brontë's fiction anticipates the concerns of contemporary feminist theology. Whilst Charlotte Brontë's novels have held a place of honor in feminist literary criticism for decades, there has been a critical tendency to associate the proto-feminism of Brontë's narratives with a rejection of Christianity—namely, that Brontë's heroines achieve their personal, social and spiritual emancipation by throwing off the shackles of a patriarchal Church Establishment. And although recent scholarly interest in Victorian Christianity has led to frequent interpretations that regard Brontë's texts as upholding a Christian worldview, in many such cases, the theology asserted in those interpretations arguably undermines the liberative impulse of the narratives. In both cases, the religious and romantic plots of Brontë's novels are viewed as incompatible. This thesis suggests that by reading Brontë's fiction in light of an interdisciplinary perspective that interweaves feminist and theological concerns, the narrative journeys of Brontë's heroines might be read as affirming both Christian faith and female empowerment. Specifically, this thesis will examine the ways in which feminist theologians have identified the need for Christian doctrines of sin and grace to be articulated in a manner that better reflects women's experiences. By exploring the interrelationship between women's writing and women's faith, particularly as it relates to the literary origins of feminist theology and Brontë's position within the nineteenth-century female publishing boom, Brontë's liberative imagination for female flourishing can be re-examined. As will be argued, when considered from the vantage point of feminist theology, 'Jane Eyre', 'Shirley', and 'Villette' portray women's need to experience grace as self-construction and interdependence rather than self-denial and subjugation.

The significance of gender audit by asserting equal opportunities for women and men: the Česká spořitelna, a.s. company case study

Čechová, Miroslava January 2014 (has links)
This dissertation is a case study of Česká spořitelna, a. s. It shows the significance of gender audit by asserting equal opportunities for women and men. The theoretical part introduces how gender equality could be asserted and also summarizes how the concept has (not) been practically fulfilled (particularly in the area of labour market). It emphasizes the gender audit as one of the possible tools of change when asserting the gender equality. The empirical part of this dissertation is investigating the significance of gender audit for asserting the equal opportunities in Česká spořitelna, a. s. Therefore it analyzes a final report of the first gender audit and compares its design with another final report that came out of the second implemented gender audit. It also analyzes the processes the company adopted after the first gender audit to promote the equal opportunities for women and men. The impacts and the efficiency of the measures (either proposed or implemented) are analyzed critically with regard to their influence on the gender equality.

Arbeit

Gruhlich, Julia 07 May 2018 (has links)
