Etude comparative du thème de la révolte dans Le Mariage de Figaro et Cahier d’un retour au pays natal / A comparative study of the theme of revolt in Le Mariage de Figaro and Cahier d’un retour au pays natal

Giswaswa, Moïse January 2022 (has links)
This work makes a comparative analysis of the literary works The Marriage of Figaro by Beaumarchais and Cahier d'un retour au pays natal by Aimé Césaire under the theme of revolt. The aim of the analysis is to see if the feelings of revolt expressed by the two authors are of the same nature, although the two works are of different genres, from different periods and from different literary currents. Our research showed that Beaumarchais had no intention of harming the royal throne. By his genius he made satirical comedy theater against aristocratic advantages acquired only by birth and desired ennoblement by merit. Beaumarchais also expresses his dismay at the treatment inflicted on women. As for Aimé Césaire, he had the privilege of knowing his origins and his culture of African origin in contact with Senghor. His poem is designed as a verbal bomb to fight slavery and colonialism. He expresses his feelings of revolt against the nameless poverty that strikes his country and launches a call for revolt against the colonizer. We also note that the link of influence of Beaumarchais on Césaire is not direct but passes through Césaire's deep knowledge of the French Revolution and the philosophy of the Enlightenment.

Bakom Beckombergas murar : En jämförelse av romanen Beckomberga och bilderboken Dyksommar / Behind the Walls of Beckomberga : A comparision of Sara Stridsberg's novel Beckomberga and picture book Dyksommar

Viberg, Hanna January 2020 (has links)
This study compares two literary works by the Swedish author Sara Stridsberg. One of the books is an adult novel, titled Beckomberga (2014), and the second book is a children’s book with illustrations, titled Dyksommar (2019).The latter is partly based on the same story as in Beckomberga. Both literary works feature a female protagonist, both with a father that is hospitalized in a mental hospital. The study examines and compares the narrator’s voice in both books, with a starting point from the French literary theorist Gérard Genette. This study also examines a character called Sabina, which  appears in both in the novel and  the children’s book. I examine in which ways the two protagonists’ relationship with Sabina is being characterized. Sabina is a patient in the same mental hospital, and the two female protagonists are intrigued – intrigued to visit their father, to socialize with Sabina and to discover the life that progress within the walls of the hospital.
