The obscene Madame D [A obscena Senhora D, 1982] and With my dog-eyes [Com os meus olhos de cão, 1986] are two short novels by the Brazilian writer Hilda Hilst (1930-2004) where the protagonists engage in a philosophical search for meaning that lead them to a state that is publicly interpreted as madness. In this analysis, they are read in light of the philosopher's Jacques Derrida theory of deconstruction. The aim is to show how their search is mediated by language, in a manner that thematizes its deconstructive character, but concretized in the materiality of their bodies, in the form of obscenity and animality. Working with the theme of madness as a mediator between language and the body's materiality, this analysis aims to show, moreover, how the strategy of deconstruction can be not only uttered, but also performed. In such a manner, it is possible to track in these novels a strategy of deconstruction on hierarchical binary oppositions such as madness/reason, human/animal, God/Evil, speech/writing, body/soul. And, being literary works that thematize a philosophical question, even the opposition philosophy/literature. / Den obscena Fru D [A obscena Senhora D, 1982] och Med mina hundögon [Com os meus olhos de cão, 1986] är två korta romaner av den brasilianska författaren Hilda Hilst (1930-2004) där huvudpersonerna ägnar sig åt ett filosofiskt sökande efter mening som leder dem till ett tillstånd som offentligt tolkas som galenskap. I den här analysen läses de i ljuset av filosofen Jacques Derridas dekonstruktionsteori. Syftet är att visa hur deras sökande förmedlas av språket, på ett sätt som tematiserar dess dekonstruktiva karaktär, men även konkretiseras i deras kroppars materialitet, i form av obscenitet och djuriskhet. Genom att arbeta med temat galenskap som en förmedlare mellan språket och kroppens materialitet syftar denna analys dessutom till att visa hur dekonstruktionsstrategin inte bara kan uttalas utan även uppföras. På så sätt är det möjligt att i dessa romaner spåra en strategi för dekonstruktion av hierarkiska binära oppositioner som galenskap/förnuft, människa/djur, Gud/Djävul, tal/skrift, kropp/själ. Och eftersom det handlar om ett litterärt verk som behandlar en filosofisk fråga, även oppositionen filosofi/litteratur dekonstrueras. / A obscena Senhora D (1982) e Com os meus olhos de cão (1986) são dois romances da escritora brasileira Hilda Hilst (1930-2004) nos quais os protagonistas se engajam numa busca filosófica por sentido que os leva a um estado que, publicamente, é interpretado como loucura. Nesta análise, eles são lidos à luz da teoria de desconstrução do filósofo Jacques Derrida. O objetivo é mostrar como sua busca é mediada pela linguagem de forma que tematiza seu caráter desconstrutivo, mas é concretizada na materialidade de seus corpos como obscenidade e animalidade. Trabalhando com o tema da loucura como mediador entre a linguagem e a materialidade do corpo, esta análise visa mostrar, além disso, como a estratégia de desconstrução não só é enunciada, mas também performada. Desta forma, é possível extrair destes romances uma estratégia de desconstrução de oposições binárias hierárquicas como loucura/razão, humano/animal, Deus/Mal, fala/escrita, corpo/alma. E, em se tratando de obras literárias que tematizam uma questão filosófica, mesmo a oposição filosofia/literatura é descontruída.

Titel: Doktor Zjivago – kirurg och författare. Ett exempel på hur läkare skildras i rysk skönlitteratur.    Denna uppsats baseras på en närläsning av Boris Pasternaks roman Doktor Zjivago. Den inleds med en överblick över läkare i rysk litteratur där ett antal exempel redovisas. Värdet av litteraturläsning och eget skrivande för både läkarstudenter och yrkesaktiva läkare lyfts fram. Studien är fokuserad på huvudpersonen Jurij Živagos två yrken, som läkare och som författare. Korta representativa textavsnitt har samlats, dels citat som beskriver Živagos agerande och tänkande som läkare, dels sådana som handlar om honom som författare och humanistisk tänkare. En analys av de båda grupperna av textcitat visar att Živago i sitt agerande som doktor ter sig som en påfallande modern läkare som uppmärksammar flera av yrkets aspekter, inte bara de rent medicinska. Dessa avsnitt präglas av extern fokalisering med en iögonenfallande avsaknad av Živagos personliga tankar. När texten skildrar Živago som författare kommer vi honom närmre; dessa avsnitt har en tydlig intern fokalisering. Denna skillnad är ett huvudfynd i studien och dess implikationer diskuteras. / Резюме   Название: Доктор Живаго – хирург и писатель. Пример описания врачей в русской литературе.   Данная дипломная работа построена на чтении романа Бориса Пастернака Доктор Живаго. Работа начинается с краткого обзора врачей в русской литературе. Место художественной литературы и письменной практики в медицинском образовании, а также в деятельности практикующих врачей подчёркивается особо. Исследование сосредоточено на двух профессиональных ролях автора: Живаго хирурга и Живаго писателя. В работе собраны короткие, показательные отрывки из текста, свидетельствующие о Живаго как враче с одной стороны, и о Живаго как писателе и гуманистическом мыслителе, с другой. Отрывки о Живаго как враче отличаются внешней вокализацией, с очевидным отсутствием частных мыслей Живаго. И напротив, пассажи, описывающие Живаго-писателя, характеризуются внутренней вокализацией, и автор становится ближе читателю. Этот контраст между внешней и внутренней вокализацией и является основным выводом представленной работы, в которой обсуждается эффект этого авторского приема. / Abstract   Title: Doctor Živago – surgeon and writer. A case study of the literary depiction of medical doctors in Russian literature.    This degree thesis presents a close reading of the novel Doctor Zhivago (1957) by Russian author Boris Pasternak. It opens with an overview of fictional physicians in Russian literature, including a few examples. The benefit both for medical students and practicing doctors of reading novels is discussed in light of research in the medical humanities The study analyzes the depiction of the protagonist Jurij Živago and his two professions as doctor and literary writer. Selected representative excerpts are examined with a focus of Živago’s acting and thinking as a doctor, on the one hand, and of him as writer and humanist thinker, on the other. The analysis of the two groups of text excerpts shows that as a doctor, his way of acting, which I discuss in relation to contemporary medical ethical norms, is that of a modern physician who pays attention to several aspects of this profession, not merely to the strictly biomedical one. However, these quotes are characterized by external focalization with a conspicuous absence of Živago’s personal thoughts. On the other hand, the text quotes emanating from his thinking as a writer bring the reader closer to his inner life; these quotes thus have an internal focalization. This difference constitutes the main finding of the study.
