BusyBeeTaskManager : visual, hosted, collaborative task management

Vijayan, Sreejitha 09 December 2013 (has links)
People today increasingly use software utilities which help create ‘to-do’ lists or reminders to stay efficient and productive. This has spurred a new industry into designing products for Business Management, Project Planning and Schedule Management on web and device platforms. However, these tools are either designed for novices or industrial level managers. A large number of individuals fall in between; their projects require intensive planning but not at the level of industrial projects. To address this category of users, I propose BusyBeeTaskManager, a web-based application that helps visually plan projects and efficiently communicate progress within the team. The user interface is designed for novice users but features such as document sharing, task dependency graph and automatic task updates allow users to carry outsophisticated team-based projects. / text

Google app engine case study : a micro blogging site

Kajita, Marcos Suguru 27 August 2010 (has links)
Cloud computing refers to the combination of large scale hardware resources at datacenters integrated by system software that provides services, commonly known as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), over the Internet. As a result of more affordable datacenters, cloud computing is slowly making its way into the mainstream business arena and has the potential to revolutionize the IT industry. As more cloud computing solutions become available, it is expected that there will be a shift to what is sometimes referred to as the Web Operating System. The Web Operating System, along with the sense of infinite computing resources on the “cloud” has the potential to bring new challenges in software engineering. The motivation of this report, which is divided into two parts, is to understand these challenges. The first part gives a brief introduction and analysis of cloud computing. The second part focuses on Google’s cloud computing platform and evaluates the implementation of a micro blogging site using Google’s App Engine. / text

Implementation av ett webbgränssnitt för MobisleNotes

Pastuhovic, Dean January 2011 (has links)
TQDT11

MongoDB jako datové úložiště pro Google App Engine SDK / MongoDB as a Datastore for Google App Engine SDK

Heller, Stanislav January 2013 (has links)
In this thesis, there are discussed use-cases of NoSQL database MongoDB implemented as a datastore for user data, which is stored by Datastore stubs in Google App Engine SDK. Existing stubs are not very well optimized for higher load; they significantly slow down application development and testing if there is a need to store larger data sets in these storages. The analysis is focused on features of MongoDB, Google App Engine NoSQL Datastore and interfaces for data manipulation in SDK - Datastore Service Stub API. As a result, there was designed and implemented new datastore stub, which is supposed to solve problems of existing stubs. New stub uses MongoDB as a database layer for storing testing data and it is fully integrated into Google App Engine SDK.

Enabling telemedicine with smartphones

Gokhale, Vaidehee Padgaonkar 24 February 2012 (has links)
As smartphone technology continues to mature, one of the many areas it can help enhance is telemedicine: the concept of using telecommunications to provide health information from a distance. A new medical condition or disease can require frequent visits to the doctor for simple biometric monitoring. These frequent visits are time-consuming and can be extremely inconvenient for the patient. This report describes how a smartphone can be the optimal platform to communicate critical biometric measurements to one's physician, reduce in-person hospital visits, and still allow for the patient to receive feedback from the doctor. A proof-of-concept infrastructure for enabling telemedicine is demonstrated by interfacing a glucose meter with an Android device that uploads that data to the Cloud to be viewed by the doctor. / text

Sharing Elderly Healthcare information on Cloud Computing

Lu, Fangjie, Khan, Israr January 2012 (has links)
Context: Due to rapid increase in the population of elderly people, sharing healthcare information has become an essential requirement for the development of e-health system. By conducting a research in e-health and cloud computing we have explored the advantages and disadvantages of sharing healthcare information for elderly people through cloud computing. Objectives: The main purpose of this research is to investigate the suitability of cloud computing to share healthcare information. The study is conducted by exploring the advantages and disadvantages of cloud computing for e-Health systems. Investigating a suitable cloud computing platform is also one of the objectives of this research. Methods: In order to identify and get deeper understanding of these issues, we have performed literature review of E-health, EHI and Cloud Computing technologies and we have develop a prototype application as experiment. Results: Based on the finding of literature review, we came to know that E-health was huge field. It needs a huge infrastructure to establish. The healthcare information in e-health requires quick and easy sharing. In EHI research, we defined EHI and find reasons for sharing elderly healthcare information. At cloud computing research, we knew the concept of cloud computing and found out advantages and disadvantages of implementing e-health in cloud computing. From literature review, we developed sharing application which was used to share EHI in cloud computing. In experiment, we proved our supposition and discussed advantages and disadvantages of sharing EHI in cloud computing by using Google App Engine (GAE). Conclusions: We conclude that cloud computing meets the requirements of sharing EHI, but it also has some limitations due to its architecture and network condition. In this research we have identified further research area that can help in enhancing security and privacy in cloud environment.

Implementing a distributed approach for speech resource and system development / Nkadimeng Raymond Molapo

Molapo, Nkadimeng Raymond January 2014 (has links)
The range of applications for high-quality automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems has grown dramatically with the advent of smart phones, in which speech recognition can greatly enhance the user experience. Currently, the languages with extensive ASR support on these devices are languages that have thousands of hours of transcribed speech corpora already collected. Developing a speech system for such a language is made simpler because extensive resources already exist. However for languages that are not as prominent, the process is more difficult. Many obstacles such as reliability and cost have hampered progress in this regard, and various separate tools for every stage of the development process have been developed to overcome these difficulties. Developing a system that is able to combine these identified partial solutions, involves customising existing tools and developing new ones to interface the overall end-to-end process. This work documents the integration of several tools to enable the end-to-end development of an Automatic Speech Recognition system in a typical under-resourced language. Google App Engine is employed as the core environment for data verification, storage and distribution, and used in conjunction with existing tools for gathering text data and for speech data recording. We analyse the data acquired by each of the tools and develop an ASR system in Shona, an important under-resourced language of Southern Africa. Although unexpected logistical problems complicated the process, we were able to collect a useable Shona speech corpus, and develop the first Automatic Speech Recognition system in that language. / MIng (Computer and Electronic Engineering), North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2014

Moving social networking applications into the cloud

Ramasahayam, Radhika 21 September 2010
Social networking applications that are developed using traditional software and architecture have scalability issues. One way to overcome the high cost of scaling social applications is to use Cloud Computing (CC). There are various cloud computing platforms available. One very interesting CC platform is Google App Engine (GAE). This research focuses on using the free GAE as a way to re-implement existing social networking applications.<p> The research focuses on how to move social applications into the cloud and on the evaluation of their performance. The thesis investigates the GAE platform, and its features. The study shows how to re-implement a social networking application using GAE cloud with limited code approximately 600 lines and evaluates the scalability of the applications.
