COVID-19 a letecký průmysl: Ekonomické dopady a odezvy politik / COVID-19 and the aviation industry: Economic impacts and policy responses

Hrubý, Martin January 2021 (has links)
Bibliographic note HRUBÝ, Martin. COVID-19 and the Aviation Industry: Economic Impacts and Policy Responses 59p. Master thesis. Charles University, Faculty of Social Sciences. Institute of Political Studies. Supervisor Ing. Petr Balcar, M.Sc. Abstract This thesis uses a combination of trend analysis and MACBETH/MABAC multiple criteria decision-making methods to assess the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the financial health of the aviation industry in 2020. It also examines the efficiency of government measures adopted to mitigate such impact by comparing the results with a hypothetical scenario where no government aid was provided in 2020. The findings show that the novel coronavirus pandemic significantly increased the probability of default across the studied airline sample and had a strong negative impact on profitability. Furthermore, the data indicates that government support improved the overall financial fitness of the studied sample and significantly reduced the probability of bankruptcy while having only a minimal effect on airline profitability. We analyze the mechanisms behind the identified trends and provide explanations that indicate room for improvement in future research. Entrepreneurship in times of an economic crisis : An explanatory research on the impact of the economic crisis on entrepreneurial activity

Pavlova, Natalia, Sagov, Ruslan January 2020 (has links)
Representatives of entrepreneurship always appear as one of the most vulnerable economic agents during a global crisis, especially if this crisis is of an unpredictable external nature. The purpose of this degree project is to determine the impact of an economic crisis on the development of forced and opportunity-based entrepreneurship, as well as how the context of an economic downturn affects creativity, which is a key compound of the entrepreneurial process. In order to accomplish this task, the researchers apply iterative induction strategy, resorting mainly to quantitative analysis method and ensuring that the study is credible, reliable and follows the core principles of business ethics. Within the course of the following degree project, the researchers conduct interviews with business representatives from various fields and countries, as well as analyze secondary statistics available for external crises of 20th and 21st centuries. The outcome of the research suggests that in times of a recession entrepreneurial activity based on intrinsic motivation and the use of market opportunities is suppressed due to such obstacles as unfavorable credit and uncertain economic environment, while generally compelled entrepreneurship usually develops, since it becomes one of the most effective methods to combat rising unemployment. The study also proves that government support is an important impetus for the recovery of SMEs during the post-crisis period. Last, but not least, is that the results of the interviewing and statistical data confirm that the state of an economic downturn has a positive effect on the development of creativity.

A learning management system adoption framework for higher education : the case of Iraq

Radif, Mustafa January 2016 (has links)
This study focuses on the implementation of Learning Management System (LMS) in the higher education sector in Iraq. Its aim is to develop a policy adoption framework for LMS implementation by scientifically investigating LMS adoption using a model that combines the principles of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Technology-Organisation-Environment (TOE) framework. The research methodology comprises of seven stages that adopts the interpretive paradigm and a mixed-methods research design. A case study design is used to investigate LMS integration in the University of Al-Qadisiyah. A TAM-TOE questionnaire is developed for the academic staff of the University of Al-Qadisiyah, in which the perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of LMS are analysed in the case organisation. The technological, organisational, and environmental aspects of LMS implementation are also examined. The survey received valid responses from 283 academic staff. In-depth semi-structured interviews of 8 academics, administrative staff and IT personnel contributed to the qualitative data. The survey respondents are selected using stratified sampling whilst purposive sampling is used to select the interview participants. The questionnaire data was analysed using correlation analysis, whilst thematic analysis is used for the interview data. The study identifies the barriers to LMS implementation as: Lack of or limited teachers’ training, lack of commitment to constructivist pedagogy, lack of experience to use the new technology, lack of technical support, and lack of appropriate educational software. These results feed into the policy framework design. The contribution to research knowledge includes the creation of a new adoption model derived from TAM and TOE to examine the LMS implementation barriers in a war recovering economy like Iraq. This approach the integration of academic users’ acceptance with macro-level factors like government support. The results lease to the development of the LMS policy framework to guide policy makers to prioritise their limited LMS investments. The novelty of the work is the bringing together the considerations of the individual users and the socio-economic context.

This paper provides a new perspective on how manufacturing emerging economy firms (EEFs) achieve superior export performance. Unlike manufacturing developed economy firms that lack endowment problems, manufacturing EEFs only reach external markets by adding external resources (government support via subsidies) to their internal resources (R&D capabilities) to influence their internal environment (international patent production and export strategy development). I investigate 140 firms from four countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) between 2008 and 2012 with data from an online survey. I establish relationships between the variables to guide the empirical development with structural equation modeling.

Особенности развития солнечной энергетики в России : магистерская диссертация / Features of solar energy development in Russia

Ширяева, Ю. О., Shiryaeva, Yu. O. January 2020 (has links)
Among all existing types of renewable energy, solar energy is the fastest growing and most promising sector. Despite the relatively small share of solar energy in the world, this industry is characterized by a fairly high growth rate. The main prerequisites for the accelerated growth of solar energy include government support measures, as well as a significant reduction in the cost of production of solar power plant components due to technological development and economies of scale. The aim of this work is to identify the features of the development of solar energy in Russia by conducting a comprehensive assessment of this sector. The practical results obtained in the course of this work can be used by energy companies to evaluate scenarios for the implementation of solar power projects, including without taking into account the state support measures for this sector.
