This thesis seeks to address the topic of how the leading Swedish food retailers applied the 4 Ps of the green marketing mix (product, price, promotion, place) when offering organic food. Firstly, the food retailers segment all the consumers in different categories, but the green consumer is not one of them. Subsequently, they target the whole market with varying strategies for positioning. For short-term positioning works the announcements of discounts in the shops. Launching promotional campaigns online and advertising on TV has given favourable outcomes of long-term and allowed the recognition of the people of the green food brand.However, there is a lack of effective use of the elements of green marketing, especially in green product and the green promotion. Regarding green price, they strive to reduce overprices to attract more consumers. About the green place, all have a lot to improve. In sum, the strategies of green marketing mix of supermarkets could be slowing down the organic food consumption.

Malachite green(MG), an N-methylated diaminotriphenylmethane dye, has been widely used as an antifungal agent in aquaculture. Malachite green is reduced to and persists as leucomalachite green(LMG) in the tisssues of fish. Concern over MG and LMG are due to the potential for consumer exposure, suggestive evidence of tumor promotion in rodent liver, and suspicion of carcinogenicity based on structure-activity relationships. Several hepatotxicants and liver carcinogens have been shown to alter cell-cell signaling by interference with gap junction intercellular communication (GJIC).This study wanted to determine if disruption of cell-cell interactions occurs in rat liver epithelial cells in response to MG and LMG treatment. Rat liver epithelial cells(WB) were treated with LMG(0~6£gg/ml) or MG.(0~5£gg/ml) for one hour and gap junction was analyzed using the scrape- loading/dye transfer assay. The viability and proliferation of rat liver epithelial cells treated with LMG or MG were determined by MTT and colony forming efficiency. In addition, expression and intracellular localization of connexin43, E-cadherin,£]-catenin,£\-tubulin, ZO-1 and occludin were determined by immunoblot and immunostain analysis. A clear decrease in the distance of dye transfer was evident following treatment with MG(0~5£gg/ml) or LMG(0~6£gg/ml). Treatment with LMG and MG at different concentrations resulted in a decrease in cell viability and cell proliferation. Preincubation of cells with protein kinase C(PKC) inhibitor decreased the inhibition of GJIC by 5ug/ml MG and the specific MEK 1 inhibitor decreased substantially the inhibition of GJIC by 5£gg/ml MG and 5£gg/ml LMG. On the other hand, the specific PI3 kinase inhibitor decreased the inhibition of GJIC only by 3£g/mlLMG and we treated WB cells with EDTA to chelate extracellular calcium ion. The decrease of free calcium ion caused the expression of GJIC. At the transcriptional level, 10£gg/ml LMG and 10£gg/ml MG after treatment for one hour caused no change in the level of connexin43 mRNA. At the translational level, the different concentrations of MG or LMG after treatment for one hour or 24 hours caused a decrease in the level of the concentrations of connexin43 protein, E-cadherin protein,£]-catenin protein,£\-tubulin protein, ZO-1 protein and changed the distribution of occludin and ZO-1. Therefore, these data speculated the hypothesis that disruption of cell-cell signaling by interference with GJIC may contribute to LMG and MG toxicity, carcinogenicity and apoptosis.

Save energy, reduce carbon and environmental protection issues are now highly concerned in the world. To be a citizen of the world, every enterprise should proceed with environmental management and corporate greening no matter for the purpose of fulfilling the corporate social responsibility or making profits. Green corporate culture is the foundation of developing green corporate and core of green business modle. Therefore we interviewed 7 companies which have good perfornmance on the corporate greening, to look into what actions they took to promote the green values and change the employees¡¦behaviors in order to set up green corporate culture. We found the stronger the green values of the top management team, the more resources they invested to set up green corporate culture, and the more apparent on the atmosphere of the green corporate culture. Besides, in the aspect of industry difference, the company which is close to downstream value chain, belongs to new development industries, or with more capital, invested more to set up green corporate culture.

As the awareness of environment consciousness, European Union passed the The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive(WEEE) Directive on October, 2002. According to this directive, private households will be able to return their WEEE to collection facilities free of charge and producers(manufacturers, sellers, distributors) will be responsible for financing these facilities from August, 2005. After that, EU passed The Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) Directive into law. It affects manufacturers, sellers, distributors and recyclers of electrical and electronic equipment containing lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chrome, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE). After 2006 the use of these materials will be banned in new products sold in Europe. The execution of these two directives will force electronic industry change the attitude that place importance on quality specifications to increase some environmental specifications. Some IC assemblying companys started to implement green supply chain and establish green purchasing specifications to follow the market trend. Vender selection is very important portion in the supply chain management. Base on the green purchasing request, the criterions also need to be revised. This research is trying to establish the green vender selection criterions and find out the weighted point of each criterions by Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP) method. The purpose of this research is to set up a green vender rating system that can be applied to the IC assembly industry.

The “green jobs for all” movement aims to make “green collar” jobs – those that support families and the environment – accessible to every working man and woman. This report investigates the potential role of the green building sector in this movement in Austin, TX through a literature review and interviews with sixteen green building professionals. The findings suggest that Austin’s green building sector does appear to offer quality green collar jobs with few barriers to entry in the market. As such, it stands to play an important role in the green for all movement locally and nationally. Unlike some other sectors of the green economy, the green building sector, at least in Texas, does not appear to be limited to “eco-elites,” a.k.a., the white, wealthier Americans who tend to dominate mainstream environmental movements. Although it is not clear that the green building sector is growing the environmental movement by involving people whose demographic background is different than most mainstream environmentalists, it does appear that contractors and subcontractors who build “green” take particular pride in their work. New jobs are expanding tin the green building sector and green practices among existing trades often gives firms a competitive edge. There are many potential roles for the city to take in its support of the green building sector. Voluntary programs are the most popular on all fronts, but the case can also be made in some cases for mandates. Rating systems are essential to resolve imperfect information in the market, but rating systems using nationally standardized codes might facilitate the efficiency of real estate markets by giving appraisers and lenders a rating system they can trust. / text

This report is an exploration of the theoretical and applied aspects of green affordable housing. First, it presents an in-depth examination of the current status of green affordable housing by exploring the synergy between green rating systems which guide and certify developments and the financial and policy mechanisms which either support or curtail them. Second, this report will analyze diverse case studies from around the country in order to examine how green affordable housing is developed in various real-world contexts. Two-tiers of case studies are presented: secondary and primary. Secondary case studies receive a brief overview while the primary case study examines in-depth an ongoing development in Austin, Texas. The primary case is also an example of current innovative movements and provides a glimpse into what the future of green affordable housing might look like. And lastly, conclusions are drawn from the research that itemize best practices in green affordable housing. The report concludes that green affordable housing is not an easy development practice and thus, recommendations are provided to ease some of the existing barriers to further development. This report also concludes that while costbenefit analyses and arguments for energy-efficiency are salient, concerns for public and environmental health need equal weight in the argument and advocacy for green affordable housing. I argue that green affordable housing should be developed with an integrated design process specific to local context, with a local visioning process that cultivates community connections. And most importantly, education for housing providers and tenants regarding on-going operations and maintenance is a crucial part of that integrated design process. / text
