I highlight as presumptive, the ignorance, considering the extension of the themes, leisure and education associated to the process of growing old. This term was developed, based on theoretical aspects observing leisure concepts indicated by researchers of the area. Its relations to questions such as time, attitude, lived culture, activities, space; and the articulation which exists, with the possibility of permanent education, as well as the search for improvement of life quality, inserted in the process of growing old, from the students and professors conceptions in a college extension course about education and the growing old period / A presente pesquisa tem por objetivo investigar o lazer e a sua articulação com a educação, através das concepções de alunos e professores de um curso de extensão universitária sobre Educação e Envelhecimento , de uma instituição de ensino, localizada no município de São Paulo. Destaco como pressuposto, o desconhecimento quanto à amplitude das temáticas Lazer e Educação associados ao processo de envelhecimento. O trabalho é desenvolvido com base nos aspectos teóricos, observando as concepções de lazer indicadas por pesquisadores da área; suas relações com questões como o tempo, a atitude, a cultura vivida, as atividades, os espaços; e a articulação existente com a possibilidade de educação permanente assim como a busca pela melhoria da qualidade de vida em meio ao processo de envelhecimento, a partir das concepções de alunos e professores de um curso de extensão universitária sobre Educação e Envelhecimento

The thesis explores how the way athletically active old men and women make sense of their acting-space affects their participation in competitive sports and conversely how their participation in competitive sports affect their sense-making process and acting-space. It puts emphasis on the sociological point of intersection of three different research fields; sports science, critical gerontology and gender studies. Concretely, it is inspired by grounded theory research design and based on interviews with twenty-two athletically active men and women over the age of 65. The thesis consists of four articles, and together these show that men and women experience certain constraints of acting-space in the context of competitive sports, which primarily seem to be related to norms of age and gender. At the same time, the thesis shows that by practising sports old adults, especially old women, are able to transgress these constraints and possibly challenge dominant constructions of age and gender.

The thesis is composed of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is formed by three main chapters. The first chapter deals with old age, growing old and changes brought by this period. The second chapter attends to the term {\clqq}quality of life`` and its history. The third part describes the present state of the rest homes. The practical part is formed by survey. Results shows what seniors expects from rest homes and their quality of life there.

The most characteristic feature of the demographic development in the Czech Republic and other developed countries is population ageing. The aim of the thesis "The process and rate of disability among seniors" was to determine the extent to which disability interferes with the lives of the seniors and to map the development, progress and conditions of the pension system. After an introductory overview of basic concepts, a part of the thesis deals with a theoretical analysis of the European framework of social security of seniors and another part is concerned with the reform of disability pensions in the Czech Republic. The focus is also on the forms of care for disabled pensioners. The empirical part analyzes the areas related to the development of population structure, administrative agenda, overview of pensions according to the WHO diagnosis groups, total overview of disability pensions, the development of the structure of pensions, financing of pension administration, and the average age of retired people. The economic side is also included, where pensions are compared with average salary and also the economic activity of seniors. My thesis treats of the problems of observance of the human rights and protection of rights of the customers of the Retirements homes in Horní Planá. Theoretical part is divided into 5 chapters, when the first one defines the concept of growing old and old age. The second chapter treats of the social services in the Czech Republic and is focusing on the retirements homes. In this chapter I mention the law of social services, which defines basic sorts of social services, kinds of delivering services, care allowance and above all defines retirements homes. In the third chapter there are described norms of quality of social services with focus on the norm No. 2 {--} protection of rights of persons. The fourth chapter called Ethical aspects in the care of elderly in the retirements homes treats of human rights in the society, Church and social services and then also treats of basic human rights of customers in social services. The last chapter describes the Retirements homes in Horní Planá. The practical part of the thesis is created by two types of semi-controlled interviews. The first one was made with customers of the Retirements homes in Horní Planá and studies if the rights of the customers are kept. The second one was made with the staff of social services {--} direct service, which investigated if the rights of customers of the Retirements homes in Horní Planá are kept.
