This diploma thesis deals with the withdrawal of Great Britain from Palestine and the reactions of the Zionist movement on her mandatory policy. In 1937, the British planed to divide the mandate between the Arabs and the Jews, terminate the administration and establish an alliance with the successor states. Disapproval of the Arab world, worsened security in Palestine and the threat of a war in Europe led the mandatory power to prolong the administration and restrict the jewish immigration.These meassures caused a deterioration of Anglo-Zionist relations. During the Second World War, the Zionist Organization put forward a request for the establishment of a Jewish Commonwealth in Palestine. No long after, the British restored their preparations for the termination of the mandate. As before the war, they sought for the pernament teritorial solution for postmandatory Palestine and new allies. Due to unstable geopolitical situation and the loss of her hegemonic position, Great Britain had to consider the attitudes of the Arab world and the United States of America.

The thesis aims to explore the relationship between national identity and the myth. Key to the analysis are the questions of the manner in which a collective identity becomes dependant on literary narrations as well as the particular motives that constitute these narrations. The analysis of the relationship is carried out in reference to particular literary texts. The discussion is based on the critical approach of literary theory and the analyses of relevant socio-political aspects. The discussion is based on a comparative approach to the chosen literary texts. The comparative method focuses on the socio-political and historical contexts of the literary works, as well as on the different concepts of communal identity portrayed. Key texts to the debate are the collection of poems of James Macpherson, Poems of Ossian, Sir Walter Scott's historical novel, Waverley, and the Czech Manuscripts of Dvůr Králové and Zelená Hora. The discussion aims at the manner in which both the mentioned elements constitute collective identity. Dissertation Story of the Sternberg's Property in 20th Century in general meaning summarize the transformations of Czech castles and palaces in the mentioned period, when the proprietor and usage has been changed many times, while this fact destined the property to changes of exteriors and especially interiors. This dissertation is related to the destiny of nobility and its property and in the second half of the 20th century especially to development of historical care institutions, which administrated the objects transferred into the property of the government. Detailed description is given to tree objects, owned at the beginning of 20th century by the Sternberg family. Into palace Březina (district Rokycany), originally the summerhouse of the family, was moved a forestry school with its students and teachers. Castle Český Šternberk (district Benešov), ancient family seat, survived the Second World War under receivership, after nationalization was as a historical monument of 1st category with its original furniture opened to public. From the nearby palace Jemniště family moved all the furniture after the palace was sold by the receiver without letting them know. Diploma thesis was divided into three main parts: the historical part, true stories of survivors and psychological part. The order of these three parts is not accidental. One follows the other, and each of the following, you might say, is clear. The body of the research paper focuses on the development of the house of Lobkowicz from the beginning of the twentieth century until the present days. During this particular period of time the members of noble family of Lobkowicz have considerably participated in political, social and public life. The attention was also given to detailed description of history of family estates and land tenure during the emphasised period of time. In diploma thesis author focuses on history of a village called Velké Popovice. She deals with its history from the end of the 19th century when František Ringhoffer became the owner of the village till the events that followed right after the "Velvet Revolution". The main part of this work is focused on political, agricultural and communal matters of the village. The author deals with Ringhoffer's family and the things that the family managed to realize right in Velké Popovice and in its surroundings. The author deals with Word War I, that violated not only the inhabitants of the village but also soldiers whose fates are shown on life of Josef Kabeláč, a legionary, who came from the village. In other part of the work, the author deals with the important period of the "First Republic" followed by the protectorate at the end of which a big tragedy was about to happen. The following part of the work is focused on the period of communist regime that brought decline in many spheres, its decay and following prosperity in those spheres. The history of the village is extended by detached chapters about Church of Panna Marie Sněžná, brewery of Velké Popovice, education and local club activities.
