Zakrisdal : Område i förvandling / Zakrisdal : Area in transitGulwer, Mathias January 2009 (has links)

Zakrisdal and the west coast region of Karlstad was at one time a protected area where the ammunition factory AmF Zakrisdal 1941-1994 was situated. This factory manufactured explosives for the Swedish armed forces and for export. In this context it is an interesting paradox that the production of ammunition, mines and armorpiercing grenades for more than 50 years has preserved the environment surrounding the factory. The factory is now gone and the production is moved to Karlskoga. Plans are being made to build housing for 3-4000 residents and other enterprises within the area. The area now stands before yet another change, most likely the most profound to date. The inspiration for this work comes from the economic historic Jan Jörnmark. He is interested in the remains of old abandoned industries. His work has caught the interest of the public and me with his Photography’s of deserted places, available at www.jornmark.se. In his academic work he has studied the process of creative destruction as formulated by the national economist Joseph Schumpeter and the effect of that process to Swedish Base Industries. The process of creative destruction describes how the introduction of new technology and new products destroy the old system of production in an ongoing process of revolutions. The entrepreneur is in this process the instigator “The agent of change”.The purpose of this essay is to investigate how a limited geographical area and the environment in its vicinity are affected by political, economic, demographic and ideological change. What consequences have changes in those sociological fields had in past times and what will they be in the future. The impact of “big events” on the “small world” will be studied with the area of Zakrisdal in Karlstad as an example, and with Joseph Schumpeter’s theory of creative destruction as the scientific tool. My studie shows that the ”Agents of change” effect on the overlaying structure unconditionally affect the lower layers in the hierarky, and ultimately the landscape itself. I can see more than one layer of entreprenures. Changes in ideological, political, technical or economic development opens oppurtiunities for entreprenures on one level while the door closes on another. The freedom to operate either grows or shrink depending on the terms set by the ”Agents of change” higher in the hierarky.

Arab Anti-SemitismBohme-Shomari, Wiji January 2010 (has links)

Although anti-Semitism is a fact of Arab life, most individuals prefer to describe it as political animosity and religious polemic. This explains why my study has only drawn from works on the subject by Western historians – because no Arab historian has even acknowledged that it exists, let alone written about it.

In this study I compare and analyze the different views my sources have on some matters related to the subject of Jew-hatred among Arabs; these are Zionism, the origins of Arab nationalism, the legendary age of tolerance in Al-andalus (Muslim Spain) and the treatment of Jews in the Quran. Ett fornnordiskt tempel som inte blev en del av den lokala identiteten i Bollnäs köping år 1923 / An ancient temple which did not become a part of the local identity in Bollnäs urban district in 1923Ung, Malin January 2011 (has links)
During the 1920’s the town of Bollnäs had the ambition to expand. The expansion included a merger with Björkhamre and the colonization of unused areas, e.g. the area around Onbacken. The archaeologist Gustaf Hallström came to Bollnäs to investigate an ancient tomb located on Onbacken. During his investigation he found an ancient monument, one of its kind in Bollnäs and Sweden. Hallström believed it was a remnant of a temple dating from the time of the Vikings/ the Middle Ages. The local press wrote about the excavation and the articles shows that many of the locals attended the lectures held by Hallström during that time. There was some interest among the locals, as this was a time when nationalism was strong and it made a significant impact on Sweden's identity. It was also a time when Archaeology gained foothold as one of the fundamental parts of investigating and writing about history. The unique excavation finding of the temple gave Bollnäs a golden opportunity to create a local identity and make the town known nationwide. This essay will show that the local inhabitants didn't utilize the finding. That they didn't use it as a part of the creation of the local identity. There are several reasons to why this occurred, for instance, the findings where never questioned as the excavation was seen as an elite project. The extent of the excavation and the temple’s significance was above the locals’ understanding. The locals’ main focus during that time was aimed towards other interests. This essay is about a finding that should have been a part of the local identity, but wasn't.

In most of my sources I find that: For Arabs, Zionism and Jewishness are one and the same thing. The influence of Nazi ideals and prejudices on Arab nationalism and the paranoid attitudes of the region’s leaders effectively stymie any chances of reconciliation between the two peoples. Historical evidences show that the much-praised racial harmony of Al-andalus has been exaggerated for political purposes. The negative image of Jews in the Quran has been deliberately misinterpreted in order to keep hatred of Jews alive among Arabs today. To see just how effective anti-Semitic indoctrination has been on reasonable, educated people, I sent a simple question to my Arab friends around the world asking them to say what they really think of Jews, hoping to get some candid answers. But to my great disappointment, not one of them replied.
