Homem, trabalho e meio ambiente : desenvolvimento e sustentabilidade

Rodrigues, Fábio 11 September 2009 (has links)
Submitted by Ana Guimarães Pereira (agpereir@ucs.br) on 2015-09-25T18:02:29Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertacao Fabio Rodrigues.pdf: 1204403 bytes, checksum: e44c5cd9b63435e643623ed1b27ae4c7 (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2015-09-25T18:02:29Z (GMT). The expansion process of the work brought the opportunity and the guarantee to the employee by a series of laws and regulations and mainly by the rights against the employer. Although, some progress has been taken in this area, and another rights has been constantly included in this list, little or almost nothing has been done to ensure that the workers will be able and conscious from the effects of their work on the environment. Moreover, only few actions have been done in order to look for alternatives less aggressive, and to include the employee in the source and the development of new activities less harmful to the integrity of natural resources. First of all, to them, most of the times they don’t have greater power of the decisions on the administration of the organization, and second, because of the search for new alternatives request, initially, an amount of values that the corporations are not always willing to spend. All progress in the work of human beings requires a new adjustment against the environmental degradation: it is necessary an environmental education for that there is still time to preserve what remains of the nature.

Organisational democracy and economic viability in producer cooperatives in the Western Cape Region of South African and in Zimbabwe : case studies and comparative analysis

Erasmus, Zimitri January 1991 (has links)
Bibliography: pages 608-625. / This study is a sociological analysis of participatory-democratic organisations in 'third world' contexts. Firstly, it assesses the degree of participatory democracy in each enterprise studied. Secondly, it explores whether cooperative development is a process. Thirdly, it assesses the applicability of existing theory in the field for organisations in 'third world' contexts. The data used is predominantly qualitative, though quantitative information is utilised. Qualitative data is gathered from in-depth interviews using semi-structured questionnaires, observation and the examination of primary sources. Empirical information is analysed in the light of theoretical constructs reviewed and practical constraints identified by other researchers in the field. The key construct is an 'ideal-type' participatory-democratic organisation. Significant findings include the following: (a) cooperatives in 'third world' contexts are formed and joined primarily for material reasons; (b) specific constraints include a severe lack of basic education among cooperators, relationships of dependency between co-ops and service organisations, and a 'survival' consciousness among cooperative members; (c) the nature of relationships between cooperatives and service organisations have significant implications for co-op development; (d) there is a relationship between organisational structures and viability as an economic unit and (e) members in different positions in the enterprise have different conceptions of cooperation. The study concludes that cooperative development is a process involving different stages characterised by different degrees of participation in decision-making, viability, organisational development and cooperative consciousness.

The role of trade unions in industrial relations system in South African industry : a study of Mondi Kraft Industry

Twala, Mandla Alfred January 1999 (has links)
Dissertation presented in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Industrial Sociology at the University of Zululand, 1999. / This research attempts to highlight the role of trade unions in industrial relations system in South Africa: A study of Mondi Kraft industry. The identified roles include, resolving conflicts between the management and the employees, improving the remunerations of the employees, creating a conducive forum for mediation and conciliation process in Mondi Kraft industry. This research confirms that lack of finance for workers to sustain themselves in the course of the strike action is one of the major reasons for ending the strike. It was also observed in this research that the ethnic factor influences individual's desire to associate with a particular trade union. Furthermore, this research showed clearly that poor education, lack of co-operation giving to union members and the hostile attitude of management towards the unions are the major problems confronting the growth and development of the trade unions.
