Baigiamajame darbe yra analizuojamas klasifikacinių bendrovių vaidmuo užtikrinant saugią laivybą, jų atsakomybės pagrindai bei reikšmė ir teisės aktai reglamentuojantys klasifikacinių bendrovių veiklą. Šio darbo tikslas – išanalizuoti klasifikacinių bendrovių funkcijas ir įrodyti klasifikacinių bendrovių atsakomybės buvimą ir svarbą siekiant užtikrinat saugią laivybą, aptarti bendrovių santykį su vėliavos valstybe ir laivų savininkais, aptarti laivų apžiūros ir saugumo sertifikavimo patikimumą ir klasifikacinės sistemos reformos galimybes. Tikslas buvo pasiektas naudojant duomenų rinkimo, surinktos informacijos analizės, aprašymo metodais ir siekiant užsibrėžtų uždavinių. Analitinėje darbo dalyje gana išsamiai išaiškintos klasifikacinių bendrovių atsiradimo priežastys, įstatyminės ir klasifikacinės funkcijos, jų skirtumai bei atliekamos inspekcijos. Aptariama Tarptautinės klasifikacinių bendrovių asociacijos reikšmė, išdėstyti reikalavimai įgaliotoms pripažintoms organizacijoms. Atskirai aptariama klasifikacinių bendrovių techninių nuostatų atitikimo tarptautiniams teisės aktams reikšmė ir klasės liudijimų kokybės problema. Išanalizuotos sutarties, kuri sudaroma tarp valstybės nacionalinės administracijos ir pripažintas klasifikacinės bendrovės, siekiant jų vardu inspektuoti vėliavos laivus ir išduoti tarptautinėse konvencijose nustatytus liudijimus, standartinės sąlygos. [to full text] / The final thesis analyzes the role of classification societies in ensuring maritime safety, the basis and meaning of their responsibility, as well as legal acts regulating the activity of classification societies. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the functions of classification societies and to prove the existence of their responsibility and the importance of their role in search for maritime safety, to discuss the relationship of such societies with the country the flag of which the ships are flying and with the owners of the ships, to discuss the reliability of ship inspection and safety certification and the possibilities for the reform of the classification system. The aim of the thesis was met by using data collection, analysis of the collected data, description methods and trying to meet the set objectives. A thorough explanation of the reasons for the establishment of classification societies, their legal and classification functions, differences and performed inspections is provided in the analytical part of the thesis. The role of the International Association of Classification Societies and the requirements for authorized accredited organizations are discussed here as well. The importance of the compliance of technical regulations of classification societies with international legal acts and the problem of the class certification quality are dealt with separately. This thesis concentrates on a local union of the International Association of Machinists (IAM), District Lodge 776, of Fort Worth, Texas, during the war years. The main argument of the thesis runs along three basic lines. First, it demonstrates that the experiences of the Fort Worth Machinists clearly fit into the national labor movement during the war years. Second, it argues that the existence, survival, and strength of the union depended greatly on outside forcesan expanding national economy, a powerful national union, and a generally labor-friendly government. Third, it shows that union officers and rank-and-file members used their bases of strengththe national economy, the national IAM, and the federal governmentto build an effective local labor organization.

This diploma thesis deals with infant massage and its associated effects. The work has been carried out through a qualitative method through a case study which monitors the close interaction between a child and their parent. The theoretical part contains information about the International Infant Massage Association, whose method of massage we have used to carry out this work. We also focus on the prenatal, perinatal and postnatal period in the research; both in terms of physiological development of the child under one year and in terms of the future mother. As for the mother, we are also concerned with their physical activity during pregnancy and after birth. We explain how important the actual touch is in a massage and discuss how the massage affects the baby and the technique used. The synthetic part contains individual case reports, evaluation. In conclusion, all participating mothers evaluate the IAIM methodology positively.

Procurando promover projetos que levassem à obtenção melhores padrões de vida à população latino-americana, principalmente àquelas do meio rural, a AIA atuou num contexto de consolidação da influência norte-americana e manutenção de interesses políticos e econômicos na América Latina e no Brasil, difundindo e adaptando programas de assistência técnica originados nos Estados Unidos às realidades locais. Contudo, este trabalho procura demonstrar que o processo de negociação envolvendo a realização das atividades da AIA foi cercada por resistências e dificuldades de adaptação, levando a constantes reorientações dos trabalhos. / It aims to analize the work of American International Association for Economic and Social Development (AIA), a philanthropic agency founded by Nelson Rockefeller, between 1946 and 1961 in Brazil. Aiming to promote better standards of living to the Latin American rural population, AIA’s emerged in a historical context of increasing US economic and politic influence over Latin America and Brazil, diffusing and adapting US technical assistance programs to local contexts. However, this research developed the idea of an intense process of political negociation, including resistance from Brazilian political staff. Also, there was many difficulties in adapting these programs to the local context, leading to constant reorganization of the AIA’s work in Brazil.

The thesis examines the 9th Congress and 18th General Assembly of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) organized in Czechoslovakia in September and October 1966. The main aim of the research is not only to reflect on the title themes of the meeting (The Essence of Art Criticism, The Functions of Art Criticism, The Methodology and Practice of the Profession of Critics), but also to shed some light on the circumstances surrounding the development of exhibitions commissioned for the congress, framing them in a perspective that acknowledges the active role of the event in shaping their ultimate role. To provide proper context, the thesis discusses also the further activities of the Czechoslovak Section (the time frame is concentrated on developments from 1945 to the first half of the 1970s). Furthermore, by turning the attention to the debates that took place within a divided Europe, the aim is to take into consideration the subtleties of viewpoints and interactions that were played out on the frontline of the Cold War and to document an elaborate web of connectivity that came about through a series of personal encounters.

>Magister Scientiae - MSc / An analysis of South African school mathematics results indicates that one of the problem areas in the mathematical performance of learners is proof and proving. In an endeavour to improve the mathematical proving ability of first year students at UWC, the MAM 112 class (a first year elective mathematics course) was taught a course in elementary logic. In the initial part of the study, logic puzzles were utilized as a tool to teach students to make logical connections between and from mathematical statements using the rules of inference. Subsequently research was done to determine if knowledge and understanding of logic would translate into improved proving abilities of students. To put proof and proving into perspective the origins and functions of proof was explicated and proving in South African schools was investigated. Consequently reasons are advanced for the dismal high school mathematics results in terms of proof and possible solutions are discussed. Recent discoveries of neuroscience are utilized to delineate the brain structures and cognitive processes involved in learning so as to gain a better understanding of the learning of mathematics. The findings of neuroscience, cognitive psychology and educational psychology are employed to elucidate the influence of emotion, confidence, experience and practice on the learning of mathematics in order to determine which factors can be applied to improve the proving abilities of students. The findings of the study indicate that knowledge of logic does help to improve the ability of students to make logical connections (deductions) between and from statements. The results of the study, however, do not indicate that knowledge and understanding of logic translates into improved proving ability of mathematical statements by students.

Die in Paris gegründete Association Internationale des Bibliothèques Musicaux vereinigt alle Arten von Musikbibliotheken, -archiven und -dokumentationszentren wie z.B. Musikhochschulbibliotheken, kommunale Musikbibliotheken, Orchesterbibliotheken oder Rundfunkarchive. Die Vereinigung ist in 22 Ländergruppen weltweit organisiert, wodurch die Jahrestagung der deutschen Sektion neben dem im Vordergrund stehenden nationalen, stets auch dem internationalen Austausch der Kollegen aus musikbezogenen Spezialbibliotheken dient.
