Εναλλακτικά κανάλια τραπεζικής εξυπηρέτησης / Alternative channels of banking services

Σκαπέτη, Ζωή 11 July 2013 (has links)
The main object of this thesis is to investigate the use of alternative channels of banking services in Greece and the future intentions of use for non-users. This work has two main parts. In the first part, which is a theoretical approach, we analyze comprehensively the issue of electronic banking (e-Banking), and more specifically the Electronic Banking through Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs), Internet (Internet Banking) and phone(Phone Banking). The e-Banking has been evaluated as a very interesting part of e-business. The research and the study of e-banking could have some interesting findings. The second part of this work includes the results that produced by research procedure. Some important findings of this research are following: a) the penetration of technology is a key factor for the development and improvement of online banking, b) the current laws about online banking, in Greece and in Europe in general, are incomplete and they have many loopholes and ambiguities, This fact has as result some negative thoughts about the reliability of online banking, c) the issue of security is the major issue for non widely using online banking, d) targets of online banking have not been achieved (since the number of customers till today is small) and e) current online banking plays supporting role in the banking market of our country, allowing the Banks' customers to have an extra option for executing their banking transactions.

Sardar, Kashif, Shamim, Salman January 2010 (has links)

This study firstly examines the current literature concerning the electronic banking problems during implementation of electronic problems in Pakistan and causes that hinders this process. To investigate in the real-time scenario we have taken the case study of Muslim Commercial Bank Limited in Pakistan in order to understand “why” and “how” the electronic banking could not be implemented successfully.

The data was collected via interviews, surveys and bank website. Both qualitative and quantitative research approach has been used to investigate and have proper understanding of current e-banking issues. We have sent questionnaire to bank employees and interviews were conducted by the bank mangers. The response of interviews and surveys shows that there are certain issues that hinder the use of e-banking in Pakistan. In-spite of the fact that internet banking has been started in Pakistan, people are still using the old manual system to do the banking transaction, popularity of cash system, waiting in long queues for hours and lacking of proper computer education and trust etc are the major problems that are hurdles in electronic banking. On the other side there are a lot of reasons that the banks did not concentrate on internet banking and cash flow is still popular in banks and internet banking was used by the banks for the limited services.

Last years a lot of changes has been done and a greater understanding have been developed and now banks are offering various online banking services but banks are facing the problem of customer awareness regarding security and privacy of using Internet banking services as still customers are reluctant to use the online banking services so they prefer to come to banks and deposit the money by hand. So we have investigated these hindrance in our research and also we put some light on what are the advantages in using electronic banking and the how the customers are getting benefit by using e-banking in Pakistan.

We have developed our own model based upon the prior research. The results were presented in detail based upon the interview and questionnaire and later on we have given recommendations so that e-banking concept can be implemented in Pakistan and suggestions which can be very helpful for the future research

Online banking access system : Principles behind choices and further development, seen from a managerial perspective / Inloggningssystem för internet banker : Principer och val av bakomliggande faktorer och framtida utveckling, sett ur ett ledningsperspektiv

Li, Sofia, Ekberg, Patrik, Morina, Gentiana January 2007 (has links)

Online banking is a young way for banks to reach new and old customers. The concept has emerged over the last decade from being not very utilized to become a major channel for the bigger banks in Sweden but also in the world. This thesis will present a study of what principles the four major Swedish banks have based their decision on when choosing what type of online access system to use. Furthermore try to present what the future principles might be toward online banking access systems. This might also show how new systems might look like and what the banks strives to achieve when making these systems not only safer but more available and usable. The thesis will present what authentication is and how the authentication process is used today. Today in general what is used is the two factor au-thentication which is based upon passwords. This two factor authentication makes it hard for attackers to breach the systems in use today, but there are ways which are emerging to gain access. Such an emerging threat is the SSL-evading Trojans. Still these kinds of threats are not common at all but they need to be considered. Today passwords are the only means we can use to make the authentication processes safe but they are not enough, according to Bill Gates. Therefore we have looked at new ways to complement today’s password based authentication processes; such compliments might be the use of biometrics, which seems to be an emerging technology.

This study have been a challenge from the beginning since we knew that this is a very in-tense subject for the banks to discuss and therefore we have had to be persuasive in many cases and let the banks answer anonymously to be able to gather as much information as possible from our sample banks. Furthermore we have collected up to date articles and studies to be able to get as accurate information as possible.

The main findings we have discovered is the trade-off between security versus availability and flexibility and these factors were the same no matter what online access system, PDA or smart card, they have in use. But also that all the banks states that their authentication process is very safe and striving to become 100% secure, even though we have found new threats which is not of an authentication problem but a matter of transactional problem. The banks have shown through the interviews that they lack awareness of such a threat.

Critérios de avaliação da qualidade da informação em sistemas de internet banking / Factors for information quality evaluation in internet banking systems

Mattar, Alexandre 30 November 2007 (has links)
On a daily basis new internet based systems are born, changing the way we live, work and interact with the society. In spite of that, most of these systems are developed based on common sense and intuition, rarely using methodologies that involves data quality information. In order to explore more these methodologies, this study adapts the data quality information framework created by Kim, Kishore e Sanders (2005) in order to evaluate internet banking systems. A survey was made with undergraduate students, with the goal to verify how the framework applies to internet banking systems. A second goal is to reveal constructs that may be used to compare internet banking systems. In order to achieve these results, statistics will be taken place, using factor analysis, cronbach coefficient, summated scales and ANOVAS.

Digital Strategies Senior Bank Executives in Mauritius use to Improve Customer Service

Sewpaul, Sailesh 01 January 2018 (has links)
Customers' use of digital banking has reshaped traditional banking, and senior level bank executives must know how to leverage this innovation to improve customer service to increase profitability. Using the technology acceptance model as the conceptual framework, the purpose of this multiple case study was to explore effective digital banking strategies that senior level executives used to improve customer service to increase profitability. The target population for this study included senior-level executives from 3 banks in Mauritius possessing successful development and implementation experience in digital banking strategies to improve customer service. Data were collected through semistructured interviews and organizational documents, which were analyzed in accordance with Yin's 5-phase data analysis process consisting of pattern matching, explanation building, time-series analysis, program logic models, and cross-case synthesis. The use of member checking and methodological triangulation increased the trustworthiness of data interpretations. Three themes emerged from the analysis of data: use of mobile strategies to migrate customers to digital banking, challenges to migrate customers to digital banking, and digital banking innovation. The implications of this study for positive social change include improving convenience to customers; promoting green banking; and providing easy access to banking to the poor, those with physical disabilities, and those living in remote and rural areas.

Svenska renodlade Internetbanker i det finansiella systemet

Huang, Emil, Montgomery, Stephanie January 2015 (has links)
In recent years Pure Play Internet-banking as a strategy has become increasingly competitive towards traditional benchmark banks. At the same time a Swedish bank released a report where they were concerned about the traditional benchmark banks in Sweden losing capital on the deposits market. The problem is that PPI-banks with their strategy - lower costs and favorable interest rates - can grow rapidly on the deposits market. This results in liquidity surpluses which have to be invested to cover the increased capital cost from increased deposits. At first, this essay aims to study if PPI-strategy leads to better performance than traditional banks with physical branches, seen to ROE and ROA. This essay will also study if the Pure Play Internet-banks (PPI-banks) in Sweden are increasing their market shares on the deposits market and if their favorable interest rates are the cause. At last, this essay will discuss what risks the PPI-banks can pose to the Sweden’s financial stability. The results shows that PPI-banks in Sweden did increase their market shares on the deposit market between 2007 and 2013, but it was not because of their favorable interest rates as proposed by researchers within the field (DeYoung 2005; Arnold & Van Ewijk 2011). Further they performed better than benchmark banks, seen to ROE and ROA, but there were some differences in the strategies between the banks. This study concludes that PPI-banks in Sweden did not perform better because of the PPI-strategy but because of their different strategies and investing activities.
