Representation of woman in fools

Makhema, Mamokuena 13 November 2006 (has links)
Faculty of Humanities School of Arts 0300015g mamokuena@yahoo.com / The study aims to explore how black women read representations of black women in South African films. Using an ethnographic study of women’s interpretation of Fool, the study reflects in part the experiences of black women. The analysis attempts to reconcile the subject positions of the filmmakers with the narrative experiences of the women they claim to represent. The study draws on feminists’ theorists like bell hooks, Jacqueline Bobo and Ifi Amadiume as the theoretical framework of black female spectatorship to explore how black South African women read films. The study highlights the points of disjuncture in filmic representations and the experiences of women, who are interviewed for their interpretations. The shifting historical and political climate in South Africa reveals the desire the participants expressed to see changes in film that best reflect the instrumental changes in South African society.

Interpreting the Organ Works of Hugo Distler

McKinney, David LeRoy January 2006 (has links)
The document examines Hugo Distler’s organ solo works within the context of performance. Chapter One contains relevant biographical information primarily based on the work of Ursula Herrmann. Chapter Two discusses the cultural, academic, and career influences on Distler’s compositional output. Chapter Three has analyses of select organ works and a discussion as to how these relate to performance. Chapter Four provides information about the playing and physical execution of Distler’s music at the organ console, with much of the information coming from primary sources written by Distler himself. Distler was born out of wedlock in Nürnberg. His early childhood was fraught with bad experiences. Under the guardianship of his maternal grandparents, he attended a Gymnasium and a music academy. When he was later unable to complete his studies at the Leipzig Conservatory, his teachers provided him with excellent recommendations, and Distler became the new organist at St. Jakobi in Lübeck in 1931. In this new environment, he became famous as a church musician, organist, conductor, and composer - the par excellence of German music. His other positions were in academia in Stuttgart and Berlin, and he eventually became a full professor. Due to the repression by the Nazi party, constantly being overworked, and the impact of his early childhood upon his psyche, Distler committed suicide on All Saints Day, November 1, 1942. Distler became the first person to compose music for the organ in a modern style that was suited for the sound of the Baroque organ. His organ music is based on vocal techniques, experiments with rhythm, uses a variety of scales and modes, and is generally pentatonic. The ideology of clarity in Distler’s works is of utmost importance. It should be apparent that this dictates the performer’s choices regarding how to interpret them. Registration, tempi, and articulation are servants to the composition. Performers of his music need to remain cognizant of this.

Amalgamations

Probst, Brennan 23 May 2019 (has links)
I explore time, memory, and the artist’s ability to convey experience through autobiographical photographs and drawings. In my compositions, I provide an intimate look into my life, while making wider observations about how my mind processes the world. My work is concerned with circumventing the objective, static qualities of photography. I attempt to create images that convey how experiences feel, instead of how they look through the lens of an optical apparatus. With my work, I do not wish to take from the world around me, but rather to create from the world within me. By utilizing multiple exposures and collage techniques, as well as drawings, I investigate how I experience and remember my life, and the people most important to me.

Využití lidové písně z hlediska hudebního žánru na ZŠ / The improvement of folksong from music genre point of view on primary school.

KRAJÍCOVÁ, Monika January 2007 (has links)
Annotation: My graduation work deals with the usage of a traditional song as a genre at primary school. The aim was to bring a traditional song closer to children using genre and find out whether they can also feel and appreciate different kinds of genre work than the media provide them . I also tried to find out what kind of music children like and according to this information I tried to make my own interpretation. As the method of research I chose an observation and an interview which I did in the school club and in the centre for children and youth in Jindřichův Hradec. As a result I found out that children are able to accept different kinds of music than media and they like learning folk songs of various genres during their own participation in a music activity.

Autor a interpret hudebního díla jako subjekty autorskoprávních vztahů v procesu vzniku a exploatace autorského díla / The author and the performer of the musical work as parties to copyright relations in the process of creation and exploitation of the copyright work

Kletenský, Jan January 2015 (has links)
The aim of the thesis is to present the legal framework of the copyright and rights related to copyright to authors and performers of musical work. As a relatively complex issue, in my opinion, it is important for authors and performers as artists to have at least a basic idea of what rights and obligations arise in the process of creation and exploitation of musical works and what legal framework of protection the law provides to them. Moreover, this topic is very close to me because I am myself author and performer of musical works. The first chapter deals with the musical work in terms of its individual components, both from legal and music theory point of view. Considering that the criterion of uniqueness of the copyright work does not exclude the use of parts of other works, I also examine the issue of legal uses of foreign works in the process of the creation of copyright works and the issue of plagiarism. At the end of the first chapter I mention the creation of a copyright work by collaboration of multiple authors (which is typical for musical works). In the second chapter, I introduce to the authors the catalogue of their moral and property rights, focusing on those areas that are relevant to musical works, including the duration of their rights and post-mortal protection. The third...
