It addresses four interrelated themes: women, work, education and gender. Among the several authors, the following stand out: Hirata (1999), Lobo (1987), Motta (2003), Perrot (2005), Priore (2013), Saffioti (2013), Scott (1995) and Touraine (2010). The dissertation text is arranged in three chapters: in the first one, a brief overview is presented on the different concepts of work, the latter being a central category, discussing the relationship between women, work and gender, and economics. Recognition of their occupation. In the second chapter, the space where the woman collector is inserted is presented, becoming a historical retreat until the Antiquity. The aim is to situate research, starting with the contextualization of recyclable materials, through the barriers of the new National Solid Waste Policy, ending this chapter with the demands of better public policies. In the third chapter, the education of these women is the focus of the discussion, with the educational narratives, which are brought to the fore, giving the analysis of the interviewees' statements. A dialogue is made with the public policies of inclusion of this category of workers and their contradictions, as well as their implementations, in the city, São Luís, capital of the State of Maranhão. The results showed that the educational trajectories of women collectors are marked not only by schooling but also by family issues, which prevented them from continuing their schooling, which led mainly to the universe of recyclable materials. In the familiar questions appear the male domination in the figure of the father.

Modernization And Women In Tunisia: An Analysis Through Selected Films

Coskun, Cicek 01 September 2006 (has links) (PDF)
This study analyzes the representation of women and modernization in Tunisian society by looking at Tunisian films produced in Tunisia after 1980. Study aims to develop a new concept to understand modernization process of women in a non-western, Muslim, and North African society through representations in films. Women&rsquo / s modernization process has been analyzed through the qualitative analyses of five Tunisian films by focusing on conceptualization of women issue as one of the main elements of Tunisian modernization. More presicely, the study examines stages of women&rsquo / s modernization on the one side, and representation of this process in films on the other. In conclusion, I argue that examining written literature alone is not enough to understand women&rsquo / s modernization process in a non-western society. Expansion of modernization is not rapid and equal in the Tunisian society. If taking place in the public sphere, having a paid job and having education are taken as the indicators of women&rsquo / s modernization, it is seen that lower class women face with problems in every stage of Tunisian modernization. At that point, attending to visual sources like cinema which has the ability to reflect the society can give us convenient information about this process.

Instituto Oswaldo Cruz. / A study with empiric theory characteristics, based on the qualitative paradigm, was performed with professionals out of the biosafety lab for biomedical research classes, from the Oswaldo Cruz Institute / Fiocruz, in Rio de Janeiro, between 2006 and 2008, targeting the evaluation of capacitating. It was an effective tool for behavior change, contributing to prevent and minimize of institutional risks. The first part of the research embraced an assessment of documents executed by the internal commission of biosafety of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute / Fiocruz targeting to raise and describe the planning and implantation of this training program. After that, looking to evaluate the class’s effectiveness it was used the Kirkpatrick model that embraces four levels of evaluation: reaction, cognition, behavior, and results. The collected data was analyzed from several theorical perspectives based in the proposed methodology and epistemology of the multirefenciality. The research results stated that 53.48% of the students found the program excellent and 40.42 found that good. The general average was added in 10% comparing to a pre-class evaluation. In the appreciation of the interviews was possible to evidence that overall, the students, were able to put the learned contents in practice, 80% mention procedures more generic and 20% were able to refer to more strict procedures. Overall the professionals are more aware of risks and willing to pursue a more intensive use of individual protection equipments. Other than that, it was possible to identify consequences to the capacitating program, including labs to the reference list of the Health Ministry. However, a need for institutional actions where the resources, process, and relations will have to be worked simultaneously, making the improvement of capacity a reality through the Oswaldo Cruz Institute / Fiocruz.

A Comparative Study of CILIP’s and ALA’s Librarians Continuing Professional Education

Chang ,Yu-Ching Unknown Date (has links)
In the information age, the librarians can not be traditional librarians. Just working for the traditional circulation、cataloging and traditional service. Facing the information technology evolution, librarians must adopt new strategies and educate themselves through continuing education. This thesis presents the continuing education policy and workshop in the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) and in the American Library Association (ALA). CILIP’s aim is to provide the highest quality workshops, onsite training and executive briefings for all library and information staff. All our workshops are tailored to meet the learning, training and developmental needs of the modern library and information community. And every Member of CILIP is entitled to join two Special Interest Groups free of charge. In the ALA, 1999 Annual Conference meeting the ALA Executive Board, decided to set up for a subcommittee with developing a preliminary outline for a 2nd Congress on Professional Education. The appointment of a steering committee to plan such a congress was approved at the Board’s Fall 1999 meeting with the 2nd Congress to be held late in 2000. Finally, according to the results of the study, several suggestions are provided: 1.Establishing the leader position for the Library Association, R.O.C.;2. Drafting the Librarians Training Headbook for the continuing education; 3. Diversifying the contents of workshops; 4. Formulating the plan for the continuing education of the librarians; 5 Drafting a system for the accreditation of the continuing education of the librarians.
