Neste trabalho utilizamos o conhecimento da estrutura entre os grãos encontrada nas cerâmicas supercondutoras a base de mercúrio, cuidadosamente produzidas na UFES, associado a uma modelagem de interferência quântica macroscópica para descrever o comportamento da corrente crítica, quando a amostra é submetida à presença de campos magnéticos. Associando a energia de aprisionamento dos vórtices (pinning) a uma modelagem mais detalhada do contorno de grão conseguimos descrever teoricamente o comportamento observado da corrente crítica. O modelo proposto adiciona uma nova visão sobre a correlação entre a corrente crítica e a descrição do contorno de grão, evidenciando o papel de parâmetros importantes oriundos da distribuição de tamanhos de junções entre grãos e do potencial de aprisionamento de vórtices na descrição correta dos valores medidos da corrente crítica em função do campo aplicado. Portanto, concluímos neste trabalho a proposta de um modelo de junção S1S2𝐼𝑆2S1 associado a um modelagem estatística que descreve com boa qualidade de previsão o comportamento da corrente crítica em amostras cerâmicas policristalinas a base de mercúrio, quando a amostra é submetida a um campo magnético externo.

This thesis describes the development and applications of sub-micron current-perpendicular-to plane devices fabricated by three-dimensional etching with a focused ion beam microscope. This technique was applied to a range of materials, including the study of c-axis Josephson junctions in the high temperature superconductor Tl2Ba2CaCu2O8, the fabrication of superconducting quantum interference devices with sub-micron loop areas, and GaN light emitting diodes. The main body of research was carried out in the study of Nb based Josephson junctions working at a temperature of 4.2 K. Junctions with normal metal, insulating and ferromagnetic barriers were characterised, as well as the first metallic antiferromagnetic Josephson junctions using γ-Fe50Mn50 as the barrier. 'Pseudo-spin-valve' Josephson junctions were also created using aCo/Cu/Fe20Ni80 barrier. In this case the relative orientation of the magnetic moments of the Co and Fe20Ni80 could be changed with an applied magnetic field. The magnetoresistance and critical current of the device showed a strong correlation, implying a direct influence of the magnetic structure of the device on the critical current.

La résonance de plasma Josephson (JPR) nous permet d'évaluer la distance moyenne rw des excursions thermiques relatives de deux vortex bidimensionnels consécutifs sur la même ligne de flux, dans le supraconducteur lamellaire Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+d (BSCCO). Ici, on a déterminé rw dans le solide de vortex dans des monocristaux de BSCCO sous-dopés, à l'aide de mesures expérimentales de la JPR en utilisant la perturbation de cavité résonante et la méthode bolométrique. Dans les échantillons vierges, sous faible champ magnétique, la dépendance en température T et en champ B de rw s'explique par le rôle dominant de la tension de ligne et sa renormalisation par les fluctuations thermiques. Celles-ci provoquent son amollissement, conduisant à la transition de phase du premier ordre entre le solide et le liquide de vortex. On observe une dépendance rw(T,B) identique dans les cristaux irradiés aux ions lourds, pour B << Bf , validant une description en terme de 'supraconducteur discret' du matériau.
