As an example we took as an analyze object a juridical process named Ação Popular 2, where the petitioner locutors ask the preservation of the public square Coronel Paulino Carlos de Arruda Botelho, where the one who were required were building commercial points to ambulant commmerce. In conclusion we contacted that there is two relations of antonym in this process that mobilized the argumentation. A big one which happen between the enunciation of the petitioners locutors and those used by who were required; and a specific one, which happen in the interior of the enunciation of the petitioners locutors which through of the deignations and of the memorables, guide the argumentation in favor of the preservation of the Square Paulino Carlos as historic patrimony of the city, and so the square stays as the space of the local identity preservation. / Este trabalho desenvolve-se sob a perspectiva teórico-metodológica da Semântica do Acontecimento e tem por objetivo compreender o funcionamento da designação na linguagem, mais especificamente, analisar como funciona a argumentação jurídica pelas designações. Tomamos como objeto de análise um processo jurídico caracterizado como Ação Popular1, por meio da qual os locutores requerentes solicitam a preservação da praça pública Coronel Paulino Carlos de Arruda Botelho, onde os requeridos estavam construindo pontos comerciais fixos para o comércio ambulante. No embate das designações constatamos que há duas relações de antonímia neste processo jurídico que mobilizam a argumentação. Uma ampla, que se dá entre as enunciações dos locutores requerentes e requeridos; e uma outra mais específica, a qual ocorre no interior da enunciação dos locutores requerentes que, por meio das designações e dos memoráveis, orientam a argumentação em favor da preservação da Praça Coronel Paulino Carlos como patrimônio histórico da cidade, mantendo assim, a praça como espaço de preservação da identidade local.
