Um estudo da compreens?o leitora em indiv?duos inseridos em contextos sociais diferentes

The study developed a qualitative and a quantitative analysis of the inferential ability of two groups of participants, with ages between 14 and 22, in their final year of elementary school. One group comes from regular public school and the other in the special EJA modality, also in a public schools. The study differentiates itself from other regular ones due to investigating the influence of previous experience of the participants, since it examines the reading comprehension of a group of individuals who live in extreme poverty, in total risk and social vulnerability, consisting of homeless people with history of drug addiction. Among the theoretical references, the contribution of Dell‟Isola (2001), Coscarelli (2003), Madruga (2006) and Fl?res (2007, 2008) can be pointed. The qualitative data analysis was performed using the classification of participants' responses according to the horizons of textual comprehension proposed by Marcuschi (1996, 2008).In this analysis the questions regarding the strips were divided into subjective and objective questions in order to verify whether the use of objective questions in survey instruments could influence the participants‟ performances. There was a considerable improvement in the performance of groups in carrying out the true or false task, compared to performance in the subjective part of the experiment. It was observed that the regular school group outperformed in 9% the group of participants in a street situation (EJA). As for pedagogical implications, this study points to the necessity of the educational system to evaluate the way how text comprehension has been assessed and worked on within the school environment, since a text has multiple potential meanings and will be read in different ways, depending on the place that holds the reader, their beliefs and their world view. / Esta pesquisa procurou investigar o impacto do universo experiencial dos indiv?duos na compreens?o leitora, analisando as diferentes leituras que os participantes fizeram de tiras da Mafalda. Realizaram-se an?lises qualitativas e quantitativas da capacidade inferencial de dois grupos de participantes, com a faixa et?ria entre 14 e 22 anos de idade, que est?o nos anos finais do ensino fundamental. Um grupo ? proveniente de escola p?blica regular e o outro da modalidade de EJA, tamb?m de escola p?blica. O estudo cont?m um diferencial no que tange ? pesquisa da influ?ncia das experi?ncias pr?vias dos participantes, pois analisou a compreens?o leitora de um grupo pouco estudado. Este grupo ? composto por indiv?duos que vivem em extrema pobreza, em total situa??o de risco e vulnerabilidade social, constitu?do por moradores de rua com hist?rico de drogadi??o. O referencial te?rico ? vasto, podendo ser destacada a contribui??o de Dell‟Isola (2001), Coscarelli (2003), Madruga (2006) e Fl?res (2007, 2008). A an?lise qualitativa dos dados foi realizada atrav?s da classifica??o das respostas dos participantes de acordo com os Horizontes de Compreens?o Textuais de Marcuschi (1996, 2008).Nesta an?lise os questionamentos com rela??o ?s tiras foram divididos em quest?es subjetivas e objetivas, a fim de se verificar se o uso de quest?es objetivas, em instrumentos de pesquisa, poderiam influenciar no desempenho dos participantes. Constatou-se uma consider?vel melhora no desempenho dos grupos na realiza??o das tarefas de verdadeiro ou falso, se comparado ao desempenho na parte subjetiva da coleta. Verificou-se que o grupo de escola regular obteve um aproveitamento geral 9% superior ao grupo de participantes em situa??o de rua, que frequentam a modalidade do EJA. Os grupos estudados, inseridos em dois contextos socioculturais distintos, compreenderam os mesmos textos de maneira diferenciada, mas em concord?ncia com suas viv?ncias. Tal resultado traz implica??es pedag?gicas, lan?ando discuss?es sobre a maneira como a compreens?o textual ? avaliada no ambiente escolar, pois o texto poder? ser poliss?mico, variando os sentidos de acordo com o lugar que o leitor ocupa, dependendo tamb?m de suas cren?as e de suas vis?es de mundo.
