Previous issue date: 2008-02-28 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The subject of this thesis is the perception of God and religion in the thinking of Jacques Lacan. Based on the study of the principal concepts of the Lacanian psychoanalysis, unfolding around the orders of the Imaginary, the Symbolic and the Real, the thesis addresses the different expressions of the dimension of lack which characterizes the human condition. It combines these expressions with the implications for the development of Lacan s perception of God and religion.
The thesis demonstrates that Lacan works with two different perceptions of God. One relates to he order of the Imaginary and the Symbolic, where God is characterized as the one who is brought forth by the sacrifice of the subject offered trough the negation of the lack. This is the God who is pleased by the subject. The other perception of God relates to the order of the Real. This is the God who holds an enigma and a lack trough which the desire in the subject is evoked. This is the God identified by Lacan as the God of Moses. The difference of these two perceptions of God allows the recognition of points of contact the Lacanian psychoanalysis and religion as well as it provides the possibility of criticizing the Lacanian perception of religion. / O tema desta tese é a concepção de Deus e de religião no pensamento de Jacques Lacan. Partindo de um estudo dos principais conceitos da psicanálise lacaniana, articulados em torno dos registros do imaginário, do simbólico e do real, a tese aborda as diferentes expressões da dimensão da falta que caracteriza a condição do ser humano e as articula com sua incidência sobre o desenvolvimento das concepções de Deus e de religião em Lacan.
Constata que Lacan trabalha com duas concepções distintas de Deus: Uma relacionada com os registros do imaginário e do simbólico, onde Deus se caracteriza como aquele que se constitui pelo sacrifício do desejo do sujeito oferecido a ele como forma de negar a falta é o Deus que goza do sujeito. A outra está relacionada ao registro do real. É o Deus que se manifesta no sintoma, que porta um enigma e uma falta, suscitando o desejo no sujeito. Lacan o identifica como o Deus de Moisés.
Essas diferentes concepções de Deus permitem uma crítica à concepção lacaniana de religião, bem como, a identificação de pontos de proximidade entre esta e a psicanálise.

O objeto de estudo aqui proposto foi delimitado pelas seguintes perguntas: Como falar de alteridade em psicanálise? Como compreender o conceito de outro, quando nos referimos a esfera do psíquico? A partir da teoria lacaniana buscou-se a base para esta investigação. Foi traçado um percurso com o objetivo de identificar as diferentes modalidades de outrem que Lacan abordou. Este percurso foi organizado de modo a abordar cada um de seus registros - imaginário, simbólico e real. No registro do imaginário identificou-se a noção de pequeno outro. Compreendeu-se que nesta condição imaginária o outro está muito vinculado ao eu, numa relação de semelhança e ambigüidade. O registro do simbólico, por estar vinculado ao universo da linguagem possibilita ao ser humano constituir-se sujeito. O conceito relacionado a este registro, portanto, é o grande Outro. Já no registro do real alcançamos dois conceitos de alteridade. São eles o objeto pequeno a e o Outro gozo. O primeiro remete a um objeto faltoso, perdido. Trata-se do objeto causa do desejo, objeto que não existe. O segundo conceito está relacionado ao Outro sexo, esfera do gozo feminino. Inclui-se aí a lógica do Heteros. Buscou-se analisar em que medida cada um dos conceitos mencionados realizam uma abertura para a diferença. Observou-se que alguns conceitos alcançam menos esta condição do que outros. De qualquer modo, todos se referem a uma dimensão de alteridade. Por fim, se o sujeito lacaniano se constitui nos enlaces destes três registros, a experiência de alteridade faz parte da condição de ser sujeito. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This research work focus on the topic of alterity, and its relation to psychoanalysis. The object of study proposed was defined by the following questions: How to discuss alterity in psychoanalysis? How to understand the concept of other, when we refer to the psychism? The Lacan´s theory was the basis for this research. The proposal was to draw a theoretical path in Lacan´s theory to identify the different concepts of others that he analyzed. The intention was to study Lacan´s three dimensions - imaginary, symbolic and real. In the dimension of imaginary the notion of small other was identified. It was understood that in the imaginary condition the other is very tied to the ego, within a relationship of similarity and ambiguity. The symbolic order is related to the language what allows the human being to become a subject. The concept of alterity in simbolyc is the great Other. In the real dimension there are two concepts of alterity: the object a, and the Other jouissance. The first one refers to a lost object. It is the object cause of desire, which does not exist. The second concept is related to the other sex. We tried to examine how each of the concepts mentioned held an opening for difference. It was noted that some concepts achieve this condition less than others. Anyway, all of them refer to a mode of alterity. Finally, if the Lacan´s theory is related to these three dimensions, the experience of alterity is part of the condition of being a subject.

Reviewer Feedback as Discourse of the Other: A Psychoanalytic Perspective on the Manuscript Review ProcessDriver, Michaela 01 December 2007 (has links)
This article contributes to dialog in the field about the nature of the manuscript review process. It develops a psychoanalytic framework for understanding how participants in the review process construct each other as subjects in discourse and why the experience of alienation inevitably marks this process. The framework suggests that participants can draw on different subject positions with regard to this alienation. One is imaginary and entails the failed fantasy that lack and alienation can be overcome. The other is symbolic and entails a mutual engagement with this failure. The article suggests imaginary positions are less constructive, resulting in struggles between participants as others. By contrast, it suggests symbolic positions are more constructive, resulting in struggles with otherness and opportunities for more creative outcomes. The article explores reviewer reflexivity as an important element of symbolic interactions in which participants have responsibility for the production of relationships in the review process.
