The methodology chosen was the qualitative research with case study design. The two participants were 40 to 45 year-old working women with college degree. The instruments used were, among others: timeline, genogram and interview focused on maternity as a means to deepen the investigation. The study was based on the material produced to try to understand what is common or specific among these women on the threshold of their biological time to reach the goal of maternity. The research results were interpreted in light of the systemic view, in which both the observer and the observed take part in the process. According to this approach, any observer includes himself/herself in the observation he or she makes. The following thematic categories emerged: influence of the family of origin, parental and maternal models, beliefs in the family s traditions and the woman s position, importance given to living conditions to get pregnant, chronological time, chronological age versus maturity, profit obtained through maternity, network obtained through maternity, career, financial support, abortion, mother s role, paradoxical needs, remarriage and role balance. In the last considerations, important issues are found such as the women s need to be aware of their own wishes and values in order to make their choice by creating strategies in search of their goals, according to their priorities and biological time, and better understanding the dilemmas of today s women / Este trabalho tem por objetivo compreender a maternidade tardia vivenciada por mulheres na contemporaneidade com idades acima dos 40 anos.

Carvalho, Helena Catharina Lyrio de 06 March 2015 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-28T20:39:00Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Helena Catharina Lyrio de Carvalho.pdf: 1914799 bytes, checksum: ad698d5e5b40e4bc74113ade45d6a7fc (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-03-06 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This study aimed at exploring the possible relationship between late motherhood and women‟s individuation process, in the light of Analytical Psychology. It is justified given the fact that the Western world has observed an increase in the proportion of women who become mothers after the age of thirty-five, period theoretically characterized by a review of one's own identity and life goals. However, even though this appears to be an issue now posed as a challenge to society, there is a dearth of research that attempt to understand the possible impact of late motherhood in the construction of woman‟s identity. A case study was conducted based on the motherhood experience of ten women who had their first child after the age of thirty-five. Through in-depth interviews we sought to capture the participants' views of their own development process. Responses were consolidated into categories, in order to identify commonalities in the developmental path of these women before and after the event of motherhood. The results showed that, when they became mothers, those women, who before had valued above all their autonomy, have apparently acquired a different and broader perspective about themselves and about others. We conclude that in such cases motherhood seems not only to have been simultaneous with a time of reviewing the meaning of life, but also to have favored an expansion of consciousness through the integration of aspects associated with acceptance of others and appreciation of the world of relationships, thus contributing to the individuation process / Este trabalho visou investigar, à luz da Psicologia Analítica, as possíveis relações entre a maternidade tardia e o processo de individuação feminina.

Matkou v pozdním věku: proměny pozdního mateřství od vzniku Československa po současnost / Being an Older Mother: Metamorphoses of Late Motherhood from the Foundation of Czechoslovakia up to the Present

Šimečková, Michaela January 2018 (has links)
Being an Older Mother: Metamorphoses of Late Motherhood from the Foundation of Czechoslovakia up to the Present Abstract The doctoral thesis gives a macro-structural view of the metamorphoses of late motherhood, here defined as motherhood of women aged over 35, as they have occurred in the Czech lands between 1920 and 2015. The study examines to which extent the reflection of late motherhood in selected professional and feminine / lifestyle periodicals converges with the findings derived from demographic data analysis. For this purpose, a mixed methods research has been conducted to link the conclusions from quantitative analysis of demographic data (demographic analysis and binary logistic regression) to those from qualitative and quantitative media analyses (discourse and content analyses). As the study shows, the development of late motherhood in the Czech lands varies across a range of possible perceptions in the media, levels and fertility rates. The thesis shows a strong coherence between the perception of late motherhood in the media and conclusions drawn from the demographic data analysis, which are consistent for most of the observed years. According to the results of the analysis, with some simplification, five different types of late motherhood are determined. The first type, the "Experienced...
