Em linhas gerais, objetivamos identificar fatores sem?ntico-cognitivos e discursivo-pragm?ticos implicados no uso de sufixos graduadores nominais e contribuir para o estudo do grau em aulas de L?ngua Portuguesa da Educa??o B?sica. A perspectiva te?rica que fundamenta nossa pesquisa ? a da Lingu?stica Funcional Centrada no Uso, conforme concebida por pesquisadores do grupo Discurso & Gram?tica (FURTADO DA CUNHA, BISPO, SILVA, 2013; MARTELOTTA, 2011). Segundo essa vertente te?rica, os usos lingu?sticos modelam a forma da gram?tica de uma l?ngua ao mesmo tempo em que s?o contingenciados por ela. Nesse sentido, discurso e gram?tica influenciam-se mutuamente. Em termos metodol?gicos, fazemos uma pesquisa de cunho eminentemente qualitativo com suporte quantitativo como evid?ncia de tend?ncia de uso. Caracteriza-se ainda pelo vi?s descritivo e interpretativista do fen?meno sob estudo. Os dados emp?ricos de nossa an?lise prov?m de um corpus constitu?do de textos escritos extra?dos da revista Veja, edi??es de janeiro a junho de 2011, particularmente das se??es Carta do Leitor e Gente, esta ?ltima representante da Coluna Social da revista. Os resultados de nossa an?lise mostram que os usos dos sufixos graduadores nominais est?o relacionados a fatores sem?ntico-cognitivos (constru??o de determinados sentidos do texto, associa??o a aspectos mais ancorados na experi?ncia concreta ou a sentidos mais abstratos, por exemplo), a quest?es discursivo-pragm?ticas (alcance de determinados prop?sitos comunicativos, como criticar, julgar, ironizar, reivindicar, envolvendo o leitor, buscando-lhe a ades?o a determinado ponto de vista). Al?m disso, verificamos que os usos desses elementos m?rficos nos g?neros textuais da amostra analisada relacionavam-se ? subjetividade do redator e a quest?es intersubjetivas, envolvendo escrevente e leitor, conforme Traugott e Dasher (2005). Por fim, contemplamos discuss?o acerca da abordagem de nosso objeto de estudo em aulas de L?ngua Portuguesa na Educa??o B?sica. / We study the use of nominal suffixes of degree, such as -inho, -?o, -?ssimo, -?limo, -?rrimo in written texts in Brazilian Portuguese, by focusing on semantic, cognitive, pragmatic and discourse aspects involved in using these suffixes. In general, we aim to identify semanticcognitive and discourse-pragmatic factors that motivate the usage of nominal suffixes of degree and to contribute for the study of degree in Portuguese class in Basic Education. The theoretical perspective underlying our research is the Lingu?stica Funcional Centrada no Uso, as conceived by group of researchers of Discurso & Gram?tica (FURTADO DA CUNHA, BISPO, SILVA, 2013; MARTELOTTA, 2011). According to this theoretical model, language model uses the shape of the grammar of a language at the same time they are provisioned for it. In this sense, speech and grammar influence each other. In terms of methodology, we make an eminently qualitative research with quantitative support as evidence of use of trend. It is characterized also by descriptive and interpretive bias of the phenomenon under study. Empirical evidence from our analysis come from a corpus consisting of written texts from Veja magazine, January to June 2011 issues, particularly Carta do Leitor e Gente sections, the latter representative of the Coluna Social magazine. The results of our analysis showed that the use of nominal graders suffixes are related to semantic-cognitive factors (construction of certain text directions, the association more grounded aspects of concrete experience or the more abstract meanings, for example), the discourse-pragmatic issues (range certain communicative purposes, as critique, judge, mock, claim, involving the reader, seeking her membership of a particular point of view). In addition, we found that the use of these morphic elements in genres of the sample analyzed were related to the subjectivity of the writer and the inter-subjective issues involving writer and reader, as Traugott and Dasher (2002). Finally, we contemplate discussion about the approach of our object of study in Portuguese classes in Basic Education.

A B?blia ? um livro com influ?ncia hist?rica e sua import?ncia n?o se limita somente ? esfera religiosa, sendo tamb?m considerada, por muitos, como uma obra de alto valor liter?rio. Ela continua em plena e ampla circula??o no contexto hist?rico-religioso-cultural do mundo de hoje. Al?m disso, esse livro re?ne aspectos discursivos e lingu?stico-textuais importantes a serem investigados, especialmente, se considerado o fato de podermos confrontar suas diferentes tradu??es. Das duas vers?es b?blicas (ARC e NTLH), interessam-nos particularmente tr?s g?neros discursivos distintos (poema, par?bola e ep?stola), sendo cinco textos de cada vers?o, o que resulta num total de dez textos. A esse respeito, consideramos, ainda, as variadas sequ?ncias tipol?gicas envolvidas na organiza??o dos g?neros discursivos selecionados, observando se a predomin?ncia de uma dessas sequ?ncias implica maior ou menor facilidade/dificuldade de compreens?o. Utilizamos, tamb?m, como suporte de an?lise, protocolos de leitura de informantes diversificados, levando em considera??o o credo religioso, o grau de escolaridade e a faixa et?ria, a fim de verificar se as diferen?as formais dos textos escolhidos e o perfil social dos leitores motivam poss?veis altera??es no processo de compreens?o textual. Para a realiza??o da an?lise, tomamos como suporte te?rico-metodol?gico a Lingu?stica Funcional Centrada no Uso (ou Lingu?stica Cognitivo-Funcional), a qual aglutina contribui??es da tradi??o funcionalista norte-americana e da Lingu?stica Cognitiva. / This paper analyses the texts of two distinct versions of the protestant Bible, namely: Almeida, Revista e Corrigida (ARC) and Nova Tradu??o na Linguagem de Hoje (NTLH). In this sense, it investigates the linguistic-textual configurations of such versions with the aim of identifying relevant differences between them and the implications for attribution of meaning between the first and the latter. The Bible is a book of historic influence and its importance is not limited only to the religious realm, but is also considered by many as a work of high literary value. It currently remains in full and wide circulation in the historic, religious and cultural contexts. Furthermore, this book gathers important discursive and textual-linguistic aspects worthy of investigation, especially, if the fact of contrasting its different versions is considered. From the two biblical versions (ARC and NTLH), three distinct discursive genres are of interest (poem, parable and epistle), with five texts from each version, resulting in a total of ten texts. In this sense, we are also interested in the various typological sequences involved in the organization of the discursive genres selected, observing if the predominance of such sequences implies in greater or lesser facility/difficulty of comprehension. We also utilized as a support for analysis the reading protocols of diverse informants, taking into consideration the religious beliefs, the level of education and age, with an aim to verify if the formal differences of the selected texts and the social profile of readers could cause possible changes to the process of text comprehension. To carry out the analysis, we used Usage-Based Linguistics (or Cognitive-Functional Linguistics) as a theoreticalmethodological support, which encompasses contributions from the North American functional tradition and cognitive linguistics.

A transitividade na conversa??o: uma abordagem funcional centrada no uso

We examined the behavior of complements in Brazilian Portuguese speech, and then compared the results with previous researches in the English language by Thompson and Hopper (2001) and in the Spanish language by V?zques (2004). In Brazil, there are no researches that treat this phenomenon in the discursive conversation, for that reason it justifies and reveals the importance of this research that aims to answer questions related to the transitivity of ordinary conversations. Thus, we describe, explain and analize the transitivity based on concrete linguistic data, provided by native speakers of Portuguese language, specifically, spontaneous talk of people from Natal-RN. We have used as theoretical assumptions the Functional Linguistics usage-based (LFCU), which gathers academics of North-American Functional Linguistics, inspired by Chafe (1979), Hopper and Thompson (1980), Thompson and Hopper (2001), Giv?n (2001), Bybee (2010), Traugott (2009, 2011), among others, as well as Cognitive Linguistics, presented by Langacker (1987), Taylor (1995), Tomasello (1998) and Goldberg(1995), among others. This data consists in conversations extracted from the corpus Banco Conversacional de Natal (FURTADO DA CUNHA). The results obtained from this work confirm the assertions defined by prior conducted studies on the transitivity in the conversation. The research showed that these three idioms, Spanish, Portuguese and English, despite the differences, they present a uniform behavior regarding their transitivity in the conversation. We intend, by this work, to contribute, in some way, to the comprehension of the focused linguistic phenomenon, likewise to build a finer scenario around of the transitivity in the Brasilian Portuguese / Este trabalho investiga o fen?meno da transitividade na conversa??o. Examinamos como os predicados transitivos se comportam no discurso do portugu?s brasileiro e, em seguida, comparamos os resultados com as pesquisas realizadas na l?ngua inglesa por Thompson e Hopper (2001) e na l?ngua espanhola por V?zques (2004). No Brasil, n?o h? pesquisas que contemplem esse fen?meno na conversa??o, o que justifica e revela a necessidade desta pesquisa, direcionada a elucidar quest?es que envolvem a transitividade em conversas espont?neas do dia a dia. Isso posto, descrevemos, explicamos e analisamos a transitividade com base em dados lingu?sticos concretos, produzidos por falantes da l?ngua portuguesa, especificamente, na fala espont?nea dos natalenses. A pesquisa ? orientada pelo quadro te?rico da Lingu?stica Funcional Centrada no Uso, que abriga a concep??o de que as l?nguas s?o moldadas pela complexa intera??o de princ?pios cognitivos e funcionais que desempenham um papel basilar na manifesta??o dos fen?menos lingu?sticos. Sendo assim, a tese ancora-se fundamentalmente no modelo da gram?tica de constru??o e no modelo dos prot?tipos para explicar a configura??o da constru??o transitiva. ? luz desse quadro, este trabalho parte do princ?pio de que a manifesta??o discursiva das diferentes instancia??es da constru??o est? diretamente ligada ? conceptualiza??o da experi?ncia humana, isto ?, ao modo como os seres humanos apreendem o mundo e falam sobre ele. Parte-se da hip?tese de que distintos tipos sem?nticos de verbos e seus pap?is participantes interagem com a constru??o transitiva, de maneira que essa intera??o pode motivar a emerg?ncia de novos sentidos atribu?dos ?s instancia??es. Por sua vez, essas instancia??es est?o ligadas entre si por meio de elos de polissemia, o que pode justificar uma organiza??o hier?rquica da constru??o transitiva em subesquemas e microconstru??es. Al?m disso, processos cognitivos de dom?nio geral s?o subjacentes ? manifesta??o discursiva da constru??o em tela e, por isso, s?o examinados na pesquisa. O trabalho conclui que a constru??o transitiva ? altamente esquem?tica e produtiva, tanto em termos de types quanto de tokens, o que justifica o alto n?mero de verbos licenciados por essa constru??o, bem como atesta que a aproxima??o e/ou afastamento entre as instancia??es s?o motivados preponderantemente por propriedades sem?nticas. A proposta de investigar como a constru??o transitiva se manifesta no uso interativo da l?ngua tem por finalidade contribuir para a descri??o das constru??es do portugu?s. / This thesis examines a type of construction belonging to the argument structure construction subclass: the transitive construction. The work assumes that in the transitive construction, form and meaning pairings, there are syntactic-semantic aspects of such construction that cannot be attributed to the other. This way, the instances of the transitive construction are examined, composed by simple clauses formed syntactically of Subject ? Verb ? Object, arising from speaking and writing modalities, and collected from varied corpora. The research is oriented by the theoretical board of usage-based linguistics which holds the conception that the languages are shaped by the complex interaction of cognitive and functional principles. These develop a basal role in the manifestation of linguistic phenomenon. Thus, the thesis anchors itself fundamentally in the construction grammar model and prototypes model to explain the configuration of the transitive construction. At the light of this board, this work starts from the principle that the discourse manifestation of different instances of construction is directly connected to the conceptualization of the human experience, that is, to the way human beings apprehend the world and speak about it. It is assumed that distinct semantic types of verbs and their participant roles interact with the transitive construction, in a way that such interaction may motivate the emerging of new connotations attributed to the instances. In turn, these instances are linked amongst themselves through polysemy links, which may justify a hierarchic organization of the transitive construction in subschemas and microconstructions. Moreover, domain-general processes are subjacent to the discourse manifestations of the construction in screen and, therefore, are examined in the research. The work has concluded that the transitive construction is highly schematic and productive, as much in terms of types as in tokens, which justifies the high number of verbs licensed by this construction, as well as it attests the proximity and/or distancing amongst the instances are especially motivated by semantic properties. The proposition of investigating how the transitive construction manifests itself in the interactive use of language has by finality to contribute to the description of constructions of Portuguese language.

Apoiada nessa perspectiva, a investiga??o se baseia na ideia de que as l?nguas s?o constitu?das por uma rede de constru??es hierarquizadas e inter-relacionadas. Nesta pesquisa, toma-se como base a orienta??o metodol?gica da pesquisa qualitativa com suporte quantitativo. Os dados utilizados para a an?lise foram coletados, principalmente, do Corpus Discurso e Gram?tica, composto de textos orais e escritos, subdivididos em cinco tipos textuais, produzidos por informantes de cinco cidades brasileiras e de variados n?veis de escolaridade. Al?m disso, foram utilizados tamb?m textos de tipologias diversas dispon?veis em ambiente eletr?nico, por meio do servidor de dados Google. Os resultados desta pesquisa comprovam a import?ncia do estudo dos adjetivos em -vel a partir de seus aspectos formais e funcionais, revelando diferentes motiva??es implicadas em seus usos. Ademais, algumas ocorr?ncias atestam a presen?a do processo de extens?o sem?ntica relacionado a cenas transitivas e ? estrutura argumental subjacente ?s bases derivacionais na forma??o desses adjetivos. Desse modo, corrobora-se a ideia de que os adjetivos formados pelo sufixo -vel preservam a sem?ntica de passividade e de possibilidade, uma vez que se relacionam com referentes passivos/n?o agentivos. / Adjectives formed by suffix -vel in Brazilian Portuguese are the focus of this study, considering as a construction, such as form-meaning pairing. The main objective is to describe both formally and functionally the [X-vel]Adjective Construction. Lingu?sticaFuncionalCentrada no Uso is being used as theoretical support, as shown by Cezario and Furtado da Cunha (2013), Oliveira and Ros?rio (2015). This research stream is the combination of US Functionalism (Talmy Giv?n, Paul Hopper, Joan Bybee, Sandra Thompson) with Construction Grammar (Adele Goldberg, William Croft, Elizabeth Traugott and Graeme Trousdale). That investigation is based on the notion that languages consists of a hierarchal and interrelated construction network. For this, it is based on the methodological assumptions of qualitative research backed by quantitative research. The data collection is carried out mainly from Corpus Discurso e Gram?tica (Corpus D&G), that are composed of both oral and written texts, and subdivided into five text types, which were generated by informants from five Brazilian cities and with different levels of education. In addition, texts of different typologies in virtual environments, which were obtained from Google server, have also been used. The research results confirm the importance of studies about adjectives formed by suffix -vel from its formal and functional aspects, bringing up several motivations pertinent to its usage. Moreover, part of occurrences confirms the existence of semantic extension process associated to both transitive scenes and argumentative structure underlying to derivational basis in the formation of these adjectives. Thereby, it validates the previous idea that some of them preserve both passivity and possibility meanings, since they are related to passive/non-agentive referents.
