Cette mythologie de H. P. Lovecraft examine les mythes d'artifice contenus dans ses textes en les comparant aux mythes modernes ayant cours dans le contexte où il a écrit selon son prétexte mythopoétique. Ce travail comportant cinq chapitres est partagé en deux parties, la première centrée sur la mythologie et la seconde sur Lovecraft. Le premier chapitre établit les distinctions et relations entre l'art, la science et la religion nécessaires à l'élaboration d'une mythologie. Le deuxième propose une définition et une typologie opératoires du mythe, récit sacré se divisant en mythe ethno-religieux, littéraire, moderne et d'artifice. Le troisième situe Lovecraft dans son contexte culturel où avaient cours plusieurs mythes modernes. Le quatrième présente son prétexte mythopoétique face à l'impact de la science sur la représentation de la religion en art. Le cinquième décrit et analyse sa mythologie d'artifice à partir d'un corpus de ses textes. / This mythology of H. P. Lovecraft examines the artificial myths inside his texts by comparing them to the modem myths in the context where he wrote according to his mythopoetic pretext. This work comprising five chapters is set in two parts, the first focuses on mythology and the second on Lovecraft. The first chapter establishes the distinctions and relations between art, science and religion necessary to the elaborate a mythology. The second offers a working definition and typology of myth, sacred narrative divided in ethno-religious, literary, modem and artificial myth. The third places Lovecraft in his cultural context where many modem myths had currency. The fourth presents his mythopoetic pretext in regards to the impact of science on religion's representation in art. The fifth describes and analyses his artificial mythology from a corpus of his texts.
