Herausforderungen und Potenziale von Mobilfunk-, Ortungs- und Navigationsdiensten in Güterverkehr und Logistik: Herausforderungen und Potenziale von Mobilfunk-, Ortungs- und Navigationsdiensten in Güterverkehr und Logistik

Stopka, Ulrike 18 February 2010 (has links)
The freight transportation industry is characterised by time-sensitive processes susceptible to disruptions, delays, breakdowns, etc. The paper thus discusses the capabilities of the most important wireless communication, positioning and navigation technologies for improving transport and logistics processes. They can be implemented on the basis of either terrestrial cellular wireless networks or satellites. Satellite networks, in particular, are addressed in the context of the Europeancontrolled independent civil satellite system Galileo, which is being currently established. The challenge is its integration with terrestrial wireless networks and corresponding identification technologies (RFID). The objective of advanced wireless communication, positioning and navigation services is to deliver more information during the supply chain, including shipments in connection with mobile business. Examples of freight wagon tracking and container monitoring in shipping complete the explanations.

Neue Wege für die Einbindung des Schienengüterverkehrs in die Wertschöpfungsketten der Logistik: Neue Wege für die Einbindung des Schienengüterverkehrs in die Wertschöpfungsketten der Logistik

König, Rainer, Jugelt, Ralf 18 February 2010 (has links)
For the first time after years of decline, rail freight transport in Germany is returning a higher growth rate than road transport. The success of recent years can only be perpetuated, however, if the growing demands of consignors can be fulfilled under conditions of increasing cost pressure. Meanwhile, the recent dynamic growth in transport volume is leading to first bottlenecks regarding the necessary resources for rail freight operation, e.g. railway infrastructure. New paths and solutions are thus required, with a strong focus on more efficient use of the existing resources. This paper presents new approaches to process and cross-company resource management, based on existing potentials at the interfaces between the operational concepts of freight railways, logistics and production.

Minskade logistikkostnader genom kundsegmentering : En fallstudie med ASSA ABLOY

Sandberg, Daniel, Trolme, Axel January 2022 (has links)
The importance of a satisfactory logistics system is becoming increasingly apparent as a consequence of growing competition and rising customer requirements regarding, amongst others, lead times, flexibility and delivery dependability. The increasing demands reduce profit margins and increase logistics costs, accelerating the  importance of a well-functioning logistics system. A way to meet the increased customer demands is to tailor the logistics solution by segmenting customers according to their unique needs. Segmenting the customers has the potential to reduce a company's logistics costs, partly because delivery service can be bespoke to the customers' different requirements, instead of offering all customers the best possible performance. When making changes to a logistics system, it is therefore also important to take customer satisfaction into account, as reduced customer satisfaction otherwise risks leading to lost sales. A company that faces challenges with increased customer demands regarding the logistics solution in parallel with a quest for reduced logistics costs is ASSA ABLOY, a company that manufactures and sells security solutions and security systems worldwide. Based on the above situation, the research purpose of the study is to \textit{through customer segmentation develop strategy proposals to reduce the total cost of ASSA ABLOY's logistics solution, taking customer satisfaction into account}. To create an understanding of the building blocks of the research purpose: logistical change, total cost analysis, customer segments and customer satisfaction, literature was examined in the mentioned areas. To link the study to ASSA ABLOY's unique situation, multiple unstructured and semi-structured interviews were conducted with people at, among others, ASSA ABLOY with good insight into the logistics solution. Based on the interview outcomes, a list of six strategy proposals for customer segmentation was produced. Based on additional interviews as well as the study's frame of reference, the list of strategic proposals was shortened to three strategies based on implementability. The total cost of the strategy proposals and the customer satisfaction impact were analyzed using empirical data in the form of data from interviews as well as order and cost data for 2021. During the analysis, constant discussions were held with supervisors at ASSA ABLOY to ensure the analysis' connection to reality. The results of the study were summarized into three strategy proposals that through data analysis could be demonstrated to lead to potential cost savings. The customer segmentation option \textit{accepted lead time} showed the by far largest potential cost saving, followed by \textit{geographical position} which also showed great savings potential. For both alternatives, customer satisfaction was estimated to slightly be improved. The third analyzed strategy proposal, customer segmentation based on \textit{average order value} indicated the lowest cost-saving and with a slight deterioration in customer satisfaction, which is why it was considered to be the worse of the three analysed strategic alternatives.

Geografické aspekty cenotvorby nákladní silniční dopravy / The geographical aspects of pricing in the field of freight road transport

Čermák, Jan January 2011 (has links)
The aim of this paper is to show what relation is between the distance and the transport price and which factors can contribute to the expected irregularity. Based on the real freight transport prices the paper is looking for and finding significant differences in the relative transport prices between chosen regions. It seems that the quality of the transport price is influenced by factors like the location of the target region within Europe and towards Czechia, within transportation routes and networks, its economic power and structure and possibly also by the mutual relations that the source and target regions have within the global supply chains. The quality of the transport connection between the regions is further compared with the connection that these regions have within the global city network. As was found out, these two kinds of connection do not have to necessarily be the same. A short questionnaire was taken among chosen transport experts to get the basis for a better interpretation of the paper's conclusions and also to get their opinion on the sense of the geographical research in the field of international transport and logistics. Keywords: international freight road transport, transport pricing, transport price, logistics, supply chains, geographical aspects of pricing

Analýza činnosti dopravního operátora / An analysis of a transport operator´s job description

HOUZIMOVÁ, Jana January 2008 (has links)
An analysis of a transport operator´s job description My degree work is centred on the problems of a transport operator´s job in a forwarding agency. The introduction provides an explanation of a term of "dispatch service" and explains why logistics is so important in transport. Then there is a description of the transport development after 1990 and the changes transport had to undergo in the time of globalization. The main part of the work deals with the operator´s working procedure from an offer to a demand, an order and other actions to the final realization. A model example is given to represent an actual transporting process. The work also states conditions under which transport is executed, for example payment terms and terms of delivery. Next chapters outline the way of calculation, give a detailed description of collecting service (which is implemented within the bounds of CS Expres system) and of storing problems including the introduction of bar codes in stores and possibilities of logistic service extension. The conclusion is focused on the firm developing strategy.
