Starting from this premise, this work was made with the intention to conduct a language study on the discursive genre love letter, including its defining characteristics, such as production context, thematic content, compositional structure and its style, in line with their conditions of production. Linedup in methodological order for language studies suggested by Bakhtin/Volochinov (2004), an order that includes these three compositional elements of discursive genres, we analyzed four love letters written in the 1950s and 1960s decades. This approach allowed us to highlight moreover the structural and functional characteristics of this genre, of cultural aspects of time when these texts were produced and also the identity of those involved in the enunciative situation. We recovered focused on the story of a passion almost erased by an unrequited love and by the time that was able to yellow, but not destroy, sheets of paper that revealed this love. To develop this study, the main theoretical references were, in addition to Bakhtin s publications (1988, 2000, 2002), Bakhtin/Volochinov (2004) and his circle (Tchougounnikov (2009), Faraco (2009), Zandwais (2009), Miotello (2008), among others), assays about culture, identity, discursive genres and love/family/personal letters. We concluded that a detailed study of language, covering the production context, the thematic content, compositional construction and style of an statement allows us to a deeper understanding of a discursive genre. The love letter is therefore a type of statement that allows a freedom of speech and a change in the level of formality and organization of its compositional elements. Moreover, the love letter, when brought to a classroom, allows a study of the language in a contextualized and meaningful way, providing also a linguistic and cultural discussion.

Love Song

Stillman, Johanna January 2017 (has links)
Love Song is an essay about romance, passion, obsession, attraction, Eros, intoxication, infatuation, to fall in love and love. Love songs, as artworks, are almost always directed towards a nameless “you” and this essay wants to talk to you. The text might be seen as a way to create and rewrite something, a performance to understand other performances, a dwelling on past relationships, a love letter, or just a text for me to vent you with others that have been thinking about you. I would love to hear Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven, Chris Kraus, Beyoncé, Bell Hooks, Anaïs Nin and Taylor Swift talk to each other about art and romances, but because that is an impossible dream I try to connect them and many other thinkers, artists and singers through language. One of them, Roland Barthes once wrote: "Language is a skin: I rub my language against the other. It is as if I had worlds instead of fingers, or fingers at the tip of my worlds."[1] Love Song is, more than anything else an attempted to touch you, a strategy to better understand the way you made and make me feel.

Marinakou-Matsa, Evgenia 14 December 2011 (has links)
The title of the present doctoral research is “Representations of the Occupation and the evolution of female identity in Η μητέρα του σκύλου [The Mother of the dog] by Pavlos Matesis”. This novel revolves around the “erotic” collaboration of a woman with the enemy during the years of the Italian-German Occupation, the public disgrace that she suffered at the wake of Liberation and her protest for the punishment that was inflicted on her. Through a methodology consisting of a narrative analysis in combination with the historical context, I examine the representations of the Occupation that the novel offers in a period that was crucial for Greek history and society, and also the historical fact of the sexual collaboration, which was judged to be of “secondary” significance by official History which filed it as self-evidently condemnable. The conclusion stemming from this research is that the novel, through a fictional narrative with strong dramatic characteristics, combines the story with its narrative ways of expression in a unique way. Its peculiarity, however, lies in its distinctive differentiation from the given facts of the dominant version and in its articulation of a discourse on a taboo subject, for literature as for Historiography, this of the erotic collaboration of women with the enemy, the official evaluation of which connects them with prostitution and national treason. Through this collaboration, which stands as a pretext for the awakening of the subject’s social conscience and the constitution of an identity on the basis of self-determination and self-designation, it sees punishment as a deconstruction mechanism of the subject but also silence as a reaction to the former. Η Μητέρα του σκύλου is a book that “listens” to the protest for the historical injustice, brings forward to the present the unfulfilled request for the subject’s moral restoration and supports the humanistic ideals, putting them above the national ones.
