Převodník Ethernet na CAN pro řízení mobilních robotů / An Ethernet-CAN controller for mobile robotsUherka, Bohumil January 2012 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with creating the Ethernet converter protocol UDP of the CAN bus with the used application layer CANopen. The converter is executed by means of the microcontroller ARM Cortex-M3, namely by STM32F107VC by STMicroelectronics. The project is designed for the purpose of serving as the main motor controlling card of the mobile advertising robot FektBot. In the theoretical part you can find a brief analysis of the ARM microcotrollers problematics, particularly the STM32F107VC. Then the thesis introduces the Ethernet technology including the UDP protocol. Finally, the CAN bus and its application layer CANopen is described. The practical part shows first of all the scheme of converter hardware. You can find there the design of printed circuits including all components for proper functioning, i.e. especially the microcontroller STM32F107VC, Ethernet PHY, the CAN bus transceiver and switched stabilized supply. Next chapter describes software creating for the given converter. Firstly there are analyzed possible ways of STM32F107VC programming, and then there is the main conception of resolving the programming part shown. The thesis then deals with the concrete implementation of the UDP Ethernet protocol. For that, the lwIP stack is used, over which the application layer of the FektBot robot works. Then there is analyzed the implementation of the CAN bus and CANopen. At the end of the practical part, the final execution of the converter software and the ways of its testing are described.

The Interchange of (Meta)Models between MetaEdit+ and Eclipse EMF Using M3-Level-Based BridgesKern, Heiko 05 February 2019 (has links)
Nowadays there are powerful tools for Domain-Specific Modeling. An ongoing problem is the insuffcient tool interoperability which complicates the development of complete tool chains or the re-use of existing metamodels, models, and model operations. In this paper we present the approach of M3-Level-Based Bridges and apply this approach to enable the interoperability between two selected tools. The first tool is MetaEdit+ with strengths in (meta)modeling and the second tool is the Eclipse Modeling Framework with advantages in model processing by transformation and generation tools.

The design and development of an ADCS OBC for a CubeSatBotma, Pieter Johannes 12 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MScEng)--Stellenbosch University, 2011. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The Electronic Systems Laboratory at Stellenbosch University is currently developing a fully 3-axis controlled Attitude Determination and Control Subsystem (ADCS) for CubeSats. This thesis describes the design and development of an Onboard Computer (OBC) suitable for ADCS application. A separate dedicated OBC for ADCS purposes allows the main CubeSat OBC to focus only on command and data handling, communication and payload management.
This thesis describes, in detail the development process of the OBC. Multiple Microcontroller Unit (MCU) architectures were considered before selecting an ARM Cortex-M3 processor due to its performance, power efficiency and functionality. The hardware was designed to be as robust as possible, because radiation tolerant and redundant components could not be included, due to their high cost and the technical constraints of a CubeSat.
The software was developed to improve recovery from lockouts or component failures and to enable the operational modes to be configured in real-time or uploaded from the ground station. Ground tests indicated that the OBC can handle radiation-related problems such as latchups and bit-flips. The peak power consumption is around 500 mW and the orbital average is substantially lower. The proposed OBC is therefore not only sufficient in its intended application as an ADCS OBC, but could also stand in as a backup for the main OBC in case of an emergency.

Terrorism and the state : intra-state dynamics and the response to non-state terrorismMcConaghy, Kieran January 2015 (has links)
Although there has been a wealth of academic literature which has examined counter-terrorism, both in the general sense and in case study focused approaches, there has seldom been an engagement in terrorism studies literature on the nature of the state itself and how this impacts upon the particular response to terrorism. Existing literature has a tendency to either examine one branch of the state or to treat (explicitly or implicitly) the state as a unitary actor. This thesis challenges the view of the state as a unitary actor, looking beneath the surface of the state, investigating intra-state dynamics and the consequences for counter-terrorism. I highlight that the state by its nature is ‘peopled', demonstrating through comparative analysis of case studies from Spain, France, and the United Kingdom, how the individual identities and dispositions of state personnel at all levels from elites to entry level positions determine the nature and characteristics of particular states. I show that if we accept that the state is peopled, we must pay attention to a series of traits that I argue all states exhibit to understand why campaigns of counter-terrorism take the shape and form that they do. I posit that we must understand the role that emotional and visceral action by state personnel in response to terrorism plays, how the character of particular state organisations can impact upon the trajectory of conflicts, and how issues of intra-state competition and coordination can frustrate even the best laid counter-terrorism strategies. Furthermore, I show how the propensity for sub- state political violence to ‘terrorise' populations makes the response to terrorism a powerful political tool, and how it has been deployed in the past for political gain rather than purely as an instrument to improve security. I conclude that future academic analyses of counter-terrorism must take this into consideration, and likewise, state personnel must be mindful of the nature and character of their state should they wish to effectively prevent terrorism and protect human rights and the rule of law.

The mat sat on the cat : investigating structure in the evaluation of order in machine translationMcCaffery, Martin January 2017 (has links)
We present a multifaceted investigation into the relevance of word order in machine translation. We introduce two tools, DTED and DERP, each using dependency structure to detect differences between the structures of machine-produced translations and human-produced references. DTED applies the principle of Tree Edit Distance to calculate edit operations required to convert one structure into another. Four variants of DTED have been produced, differing in the importance they place on words which match between the two sentences. DERP represents a more detailed procedure, making use of the dependency relations between words when evaluating the disparities between paths connecting matching nodes. In order to empirically evaluate DTED and DERP, and as a standalone contribution, we have produced WOJ-DB, a database of human judgments. Containing scores relating to translation adequacy and more specifically to word order quality, this is intended to support investigations into a wide range of translation phenomena. We report an internal evaluation of the information in WOJ-DB, then use it to evaluate variants of DTED and DERP, both to determine their relative merit and their strength relative to third-party baselines. We present our conclusions about the importance of structure to the tools and their relevance to word order specifically, then propose further related avenues of research suggested or enabled by our work.

Complications after coronectomy of third molarsNguyen, Kevin, Pakdee, Jackapong January 2021 (has links)
ABSTRACT Background Removal of mandibular third molars can be associated with postoperative complications. Coronectomy with partial removal of the crown, is described as an alternative surgical method when risks for post-operative complications are substantial. Aim The aim of this study was to evaluate risk factors for post-operative complications after coronectomy. Materials and Methods Fifty-six patients (26 men/30 women, median age 51 years) were operated with coronectomy of mandibular third molars. Risk factors were identified from medical records and radiographic examinations. Post-operative complications lasting over 14 days were registered. Results Fifty percent of the patients had a post-operative complication with significant higher risk for complications for patients over 51 years (p = 0.016). The most common complications were pain from surgical site and local infection. Three patients were registered with affected sensory function. Root migration was registered in 16 patients. Gender, comorbidity, medication, tobacco use, cause of referral (bacterial/other causes) or angulation of the third molar did not affect the risk for complications. Conclusion The results indicate that coronectomy is an appropriate surgical technique when the risks for postoperative complications are significant, although a high level of short-term complications has been observed.
