MIFO fas 2: Ekeby bruk

Jernberg, Danielle January 2016 (has links)
The brick and pottery fabricator Ekeby bruk was situated in Uppsalas western parts. The factory was active from 1886 into the 1970s. Ekeby bruk was for a long time one of the most successful brick and ceramics manufacturers in Sweden. The clay used in the production was taken from the area where the factory was located. The pits from where the clay was taken is believed to have been used as landfill for the waste generated during production. Since there had been suspicion that the area could be contaminated, sampling of soil and groundwater where conducted. The samples have shown that the soil contains high levels of lead and barium. In order to examine what risks this poses to humans and the environment a risk classification of the area is performed. The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency has developed a method for examine contaminated sites, called MIFO. The risk of the contaminated object classified on the basis of parameters; pollution hazards, pollution level, conditions for spreading, and sensitivity and the protection value. The purpose of this independent work in geoscience is that to, with the use of a soil engineering survey made by company Tyréns performed in behalf of Uppsala kommun make an investigation in accordance with MIFO phase 2. The risk classification made in this study is then compared with the one Tyréns made in their reportThe object is assigned class 2 in this survey, which means high risk. Objektet, Ekeby bruk, tilldelas i denna undersökning riskklass 2, vilket innebär stor risk.

The reception of the ransom logion and its significance for the study of Mark 10.45/Matthew 20.28

Edwards, John C. January 2011 (has links)
The ransom logion, as presented in Mark 10.45/Matthew 20.28, is the only place in the synoptic gospels outside the Eucharist where Jesus gives a beneficial interpretation of his upcoming death. This fact has generated much discussion about the authenticity and scriptural background of the ransom logion as found in Mark 10.45/Matthew 20.28. However, no one has examined the early reception of the ransom logion, nor has anyone explored the significance of that reception for the critical study of Mark 10.45/Matthew 20.28. The purpose of this study is to fill these lacunae in the literature. First, this study examines the reception of the ransom logion from the New Testament through the third century. Preceding this examination is a methodology for surveying traditions that stretch across the New Testament and into the Early Christian periods. Second, this study explores the potential significance of the reception of the ransom logion for the critical study of Mark 10.45/Matthew 20.28. The rationale for this exploration relies on the fact that there are observable patterns displayed in the reception of the ransom logion, which may reflect how the ransom logion functions in Mark 10.45/Matthew 20.28. Specifically, the study explores the significance of these patterns as they relate to the origin of the ransom logion in a Eucharistic setting, a pre-existent coming in Mark 10.45/Matthew 20.28, and the scriptural background of Mark 10.45/Matthew 20.28.

TRÄDS UPPTAG AV METALLER PÅ FÖRORENAD MARK : EN FÄLTSTUDIE OM TRÄDPROVTAGNING ÄR LÄMPLIGT SOM INDIKATION PÅ METALLFÖRORENING.

Strömberg, Michelle, Svensson, Emelie January 2012 (has links)
The number of polluted areas in Sweden has been estimated to around 80 000. Therefore, during the last decade, a lot of time and effort have been spent to characterize the contaminants and assess the hazard at many of these sites. In some rare cases remedial action has already been completed. Traditionally survey methods such as groundwater and soil sampling are applied to determine the degree of pollution at contaminated site. These methods generally mean a lot of work and high costs as pollutants often are distributed unevenly at the site. These sampling techniques may also influence the surroundings. Because of the difficulties that may occur, it would be attractive to find an alternative sampling method that can provide an overall assessment of the pollution situation before any drilling and excavation is carried out. Tree sampling requires an increment borer to extract the tree-core. To see if there is any connection of where the tree uptake is made, this study also includes samples taken from soil and roots. One potential method is to use trees as a source of material for sampling instead of soil and water. Tree sampling requires only an increment borer to extract the tree-core. As the accumulation ability may vary with different plant organs samples in this study was taken from both roots and stems. To analyse the relationship between pollutants in soil and in tree organs soil samples were also included. The study material consisted of samples from 45 trees on site and two referential trees. There were three firs, two pines and the remainder forty was birches. The analysis made where on metals and the study focused on arsenic, lead, copper and zinc. Analyses of results by linear regression didn´t show any strong relationship between metal content in soil and metal content in the tree organs (max R2value = 0,30). However, it was possible to discern a stronger relationship between soil and roots than between soil and stems. There's a possibility that this study of tree samples might be a suitable method for the future, but still more tests needs to be done and more development needs in the field.
