Previous issue date: 2014-02-18 / The study aims identify the existence of quality culture in Brazilian automotive dealerships with ISO 9001, motivated by this research problem: exist a quality culture in this dealerships, which facilitates the adoption of quality practices supported by ISO 9001? For referencing, the theoretical review was written in five themes: organizational culture, quality culture, total quality management, ISO 9001 quality management system and the Brazilian automobile industry. As regards the methodological aspects, the research has an applied nature, with a quantitative approach, being exploratory in their objectives, and bibliographic, documental and survey as technical procedures. The organizations participating in the study were all Brazilian automotive dealerships certified with ISO 9001. The research intended cover all the 80 active dealers with ISO 9001 certification identified by the Brazilian Committee for Quality (ABNT CB-25). The survey recorded participation of 32 companies (response rate 40%). The questionnaire was sent to seller managers, formatted into five sections: 1) introductory message 2) manager profile, 3) reasons for implementation and benefits generated by ISO 4) adoption levels of quality practices and 5) diagnosis of organizational culture. The questions contained in sections 2 and 3 were structured in multiple choice, and in the remaining sections were structured in Likert 5-point scale. The statistical method used (data analysis), was the descriptive statistics, for data representation in frequency percentage (FP) and standard level (SL). The results showed that the interviewed dealerships have an organizational culture with very high levels of prevalence in "outcome orientation" and "attention to detail" cultural dimensions. In addition, about the other two dimensions considered conducive to quality (innovation and teamwork/respect for people), both observed high prevalence. Based on the present results, concluded that the organizational culture of Brazilian dealerships with ISO 9001 are quality oriented, being conducive to adoption of quality practices supported by TQM Systems. However, it is important to mention that the quality culture identified is not sufficiently developed to adopt quality practices at optimal levels, which sets up an unfavorable scenario to deals with highly rigorous customer / O presente estudo tem como objetivo geral verificar se a cultura organizacional das concession?rias em estudo s?o orientadas ? qualidade, motivado pelo seguinte problema de pesquisa: existe uma cultura organizacional nas concession?rias em estudo que propicie aplica??o m?xima das pr?ticas da qualidade sugeridas pela ISO 9001? Para embasamento da tem?tica dissertada, elaborou-se uma revis?o te?rica nos seguintes pontos: cultura organizacional, cultura da qualidade, gest?o da qualidade total, sistema de gest?o da qualidade ISO 9001 e a ind?stria automobil?stica brasileira. Sobre o m?todo, a pesquisa possui natureza aplicada, com abordagem quantitativa, sendo explorat?ria em rela??o aos objetivos e bibliogr?fica, documental e survey em rela??o aos procedimentos t?cnicos. O objeto de estudo foram todas as concession?rias automotivas de ve?culos leves certificadas com ISO 9001 ativas no Brasil. O instrumento de coleta utilizado foi enviado aos gerentes de vendas de ve?culos novos, formatado em cinco se??es: 1) mensagem introdut?ria ? pesquisa, 2) perfil do gestor, 3) identifica??o dos motivos de implanta??o e benef?cios gerados pela ISO, 4) avalia??o dos n?veis de ado??o das pr?ticas da qualidade e 5) diagn?stico da cultura organizacional. As indaga??es contidas nas se??es 2 e 3 foram estruturadas em m?ltipla escolha, e as demais se??es foram estruturadas em escala Likert de 5 pontos. Utilizou-se como m?todo estat?stico (an?lise dos dados) a estat?stica descritiva para representa??o dos dados em frequ?ncia percentual (FP) e n?vel padr?o (NP). Os resultados evidenciados demonstraram que as concession?rias em estudo, em uma an?lise global, possuem uma cultura organizacional em n?veis de predomin?ncia muito alta, apontando robustez nas dimens?es: orienta??o a resultados e aten??o aos detalhes . E quanto as outras duas dimens?es consideradas prop?cias ? qualidade (inova??o e trabalho em equipe/respeito pelas pessoas), ambas observaram alta predomin?ncia, sendo consideradas como dimens?es fortes . was directly involved. One of then happened from 1997 to 2004 at the Municipal
Culture in Itapecerica da Serra city and the other in the context of the Tide Setubal
Foundation that developed in Sao Miguel Paulista, neighborhood of East Region of
São Paulo capital. Although the culture managements happen in different universes,
both are characterized by the coexistence of managers with activities and
representations of who belonged to and participated in these experiments
approached in a comparative perspective, they show the importance of ways of
management of cultural policies, in addition to administrative aspects. In
implementation of projects and programs of culture, a counterpoint comes between
the "do to" and "do with" the target public, men and women, young and not so young.
Thus the important role assumed by the target public, since the cultural actions are
based on a careful view and a receptive listening to their experiences, knowledge
and practices related to everyday life that are neither always taken into account, nor
are they considered as specific demands / Esta tese de doutoramento focaliza duas experiências de gestão da cultura, nas
quais estive diretamente envolvido. Uma delas acontecem entre 1997 e 2004 na
Secretaria Municipal de Cultura de Itapecerica da Serra e a outra no âmbito da
Fundação "Tide Setubal" se desenvolveu, em São Miguel Paulista, bairro da região
Leste da capital paulista. Embora aconteçam em universos distintos, ambas se
caracterizam pela convivência próxima dos gestores com as atividades e
representações de quem integrava e participava dessas experiências. Abordadas de
uma perspectiva comparativa, elas chamam atenção para a importância das formas

Previous issue date: 2011-11 / Neste trabalho foram estudados diferentes aspectos do manejo da cultura da mamona em condições de campo, visando à otimização do uso da água, e ao rendimento da mamona, em primeiro e segundo ciclos, obtido em condições de rebrote através de poda. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida no Centro de Ciências Agrárias e Ambientais - CCAA, Campus II da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba - UEPB, localizado no Sítio Imbaúba, s/n, Zona Rural, Município de Lagoa Seca - PB, Microrregião de Campina Grande, Agreste Paraibano, com altitude média de 634 m, no período de outubro de 2008 a outubro de 2009. O solo utilizado foi um franco-arenoso com baixo teor de matéria orgânica. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos ao acaso, em esquema fatorial 2 x 4 , constituído de dois cultivares de mamona (BRS 149 - Nordestina e o BRS 188 - Paraguaçu) e quatro níveis de água disponível no solo (40,60, 80 e 100%), distribuídos em 3 blocos. A área útil de cada parcela experimental era de 100 m2 na qual foram cultivadas 50 plantas, espaçadas 2m x lm. O solo foi adubado com superfosfato triplo em fundação na quantidade de 120 kg.ha"1 de P2Os e em cobertura de 100 kg.ha"1 de K2O e de 100 kg-ha"1 de N, nas formas de cloreto de potássio e ureia, parcelados em porções igualitárias em intervalos de 10 dias, aplicadas via fertirrigação, a primeira aplicação 1
ocorrendo 20 dias após o semeio. O experimento foi conduzido durante dois ciclos i :.
consecutivos de 180 dias, o segundo realizado a partir de uma poda drástica das plantas, na altura de 30 cm em relação ao nível do solo. O conteúdo de água dispomvel do solo foi monitorado na frequência de dois dias, através de uma sonda de TDR segmentada. Os dados ? foram analisados estatisticamente utilizando-se o programa SISVAR - ESAL - Lavras, MG, através do qual foi feita a análise de variância (ANAVA), aplicando-se os Testes F e de Tukej^^--' j para a comparação das médias dos tratamentos e análise de regressão para o fator quantitativo de água dispomvel. Avaliaram-se: altura, diâmetro do caule, área foliar e inflorescências: dias para emissão da I a inflorescência e sua respectiva altura e número total de inflorescências, fitomassa, razão de área foliar, consumo e eficiência do uso da água, produção de frutos e sementes e teor de óleo nas sementes. Verificou-se que o aumento da disponibilidade hídrica no solo aumentou todos os índices de crescimento e/ou desenvolvimento das plantas, com incrementos substanciais na produtividade e na qualidade final do produto. O segundo ciclo da cultura, obtido a partir da poda drástica, apresentou padrões de crescimento e/ou desenvolvimento e capacidade produtiva semelhantes aos do primeiro ciclo, com elevado padrão de qualidade do produto final, demonstrando a viabilidade técnica de condução a um segundo ciclo da mamona, a partir da poda drástica das plantas. / This study examined different aspects of management of castor bean in the field, aiming to
optimize water use and yield of castor bean in the first and second cycle, obtained under
conditions of regrowth through pruning. The research was conducted at the Centro de
Ciências Agrárias e Ambientais - CCAA, Campus II da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba -
UEPB, located on the Sitio Imbaúba, s/n, Rural Zone, Lagoa Seca, PB, Micro region of
Campina Grande, Paraiba Agrestic, with an average altitude of 634 m in the period October
2008 to October 2009. It was used a sandy loam soil with low organic matter content. The
experimental design was randomized blocks in factorial 2 x 4 , consisting of two castor bean
cultivars (BRS 149 - Nordestina and BRS 188 - Paraguaçu) and four leveis of available soil
water (40, 60, 80 and 100 %), distributed in three blocks. Each plot had a surface area of 100
square meters where they were cultivated 50 plants, spaced 2m x lm. The soil was fertilized
with triple superphosphate in foundation in the amount of 120 kg ha"1 P2O5 and included 100
kg.ha"1 K2O and 100 kg.ha"1 N in the forms of potassium chloride and urea, split in equal
portions at intervals of 10 days via fertigation, with the first application occurring 20 days
after sowing. The experiment was conducted for two consecutive cycles of 180 days, and the
second cycle performed from a drastic pruning of the plants to a height of 30 cm from the
ground levei. The available water content of soil was detected and replaced at intervals of
two days through a segmented TDR probe. The data were statistically analyzed using the
program SISVAR - ESAL - Lavras, MG, which was made through the analysis of variance
(ANOVA), applying the F test and Tukey test for comparison of treatment means and
regression analysis for the quantitative factors available water. They were evaluated: height,
stem diameter, leaf area, flowering, days to issue their lst and their respective height and total
number of inflorescences, biomass, leaf area ratio, consumption and efficiency of water use,
production of fruits and seeds and oil content in seeds. It was found that increased soil water
availability has increased ali índices of growth and / or development of plants with substantial
increases in productivity and quality of the final product. The second cycle of the culture
obtained from the drastic pruning, showed growth patterns and/or development and
production capabilities similar to the first cycle, with high standards of product quality, demonstrating the feasibility of conducting a second round os castor from a drastic prining os the plants.

Although existing organisational approaches of changing processes give theoretical insight, they fail to consider the cultural perspective and how change can be implemented successfully. This article focuses on cultural approach and therefore introduces a cohesive cultural model to the Higher Education (HE) context. It will be shown how this paradigm can be used in strategic management processes at universities and how it can support them. It therefore offers an approach that is applicable to the practice of university management. / Universitätskultur kann als eines der Haupthindernisse für die Implementierung von strategischem Management an Universitäten angesehen werden. Vorhandene Ansätze der Organisationsforschung betrachten zwar Veränderungsprozesse, diskutieren die Rolle der Organisationskultur jedoch nur am Rande und fragen nicht nach dem Wie der Umsetzung einer solchen organisationalen Veränderung. Dieser Artikel betrachtet strategisches Management an Universitäten aus einer kulturtheoretischen Perspektive und überträgt das kohäsionsorientierte Organisationsmodell auf den Hochschulkontext.
Es wird gezeigt, wie dieses Modell strategische Prozesse unterstützen kann, so dass es einen praktischen Nutzen für das Hochschulmanagement bietet.
