No. of bitstreams: 1 FilippoRicci-Tese FINAL.pdf: 3289784 bytes, checksum: c68f65c049e57bd4fd27575350b0fec7 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-11-04 / The digital age saw the rise of the consumer focused-enterprise. Every day brands and products are the subject of millions of conversations in which consumers exchange views, opinions and information before making the purchase decision. Marketers understood the importance of word of mouth as a new strategic communication channel and started to anchor word of mouth techniques to the overall marketing strategy. Advertising has become a conversation business: the new marketing challenge is to create an engaging and sharable content that could expand and resonate within consumers’ networks. The more people talk about your brand, the more the likelihood to win harsh competition and increase sales. But how word of mouth marketing works? What make a marketing campaign a viral success? This work aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of word of mouth marketing theory and further investigate the key variables of viral marketing. Following the research question 'how companies design efficient viral campaigns?' the underlying dissertation adopts a descriptive model and a multiple case study approach (Coca Cola Zero and Dove) in order to provide insights and suggestions for viral marketing practices. Considering the findings of the research, a new framework is presented in order to show the most important stages that affect the creation, development and outcome of viral campaigns.

Integrated marketing communication at the South African National Blood Service: an evaluation of its social marketing campaigns

Chauke, Gibson 02 1900 (has links)
Integrated marketing communication (IMC) is a concept which has been explored in commercial contexts by numerous studies. Numerous scholars in the literature highlight the benefits of adopting an IMC approach which creates message consistency, amongst others. However, there is still limited literature on the adoption and use of IMC in the context of non-profit organisations involved in social marketing campaigns to support their behavioural change messages. Insight into the adoption and use of an IMC approach could be useful to non-profit organisations involved in social marketing as it could increase the success of behavioural change messages. This study aims to explore the use of IMC by one non-profit organisation within a social marketing context. By doing so the study proposes and refines IMC criteria for social marketing to support behavioural change messages and thus contributes to the existing body of knowledge on using IMC in social marketing. The study uses a single case study approach which includes using three data collection methods to collect data from the South Africa National Blood Service (SANBS) to evaluate its social marketing campaigns according to proposed IMC criteria for social marketing. Based on the findings revised IMC criteria which are more tailor-made for social marketing to support behavioural change messages are proposed. It became evident that non-profit organisations need to be sensitive to the complexities of communicating messages aimed at behavioural change. A proper understanding and application of more tailor-made IMC criteria for social marketing can thus benefit non-profit organisations to effectively communicate behavioural change messages through their social marketing campaigns / Communication Science / MA (Communication Science)

Role propagandy v online diskurzu vybraných kampaní na podporu dobrovolného dárcovství krve v České republice / The Role of Propaganda in Online Discourse of Selected Blood Donation Campaigns in the Czech Republic

Blažková, Barbora January 2017 (has links)
The voluntary blood donation issue is topical in the Czech Republic since the number of blood donors has not yet reached the number of donors existing in the neighboring countries. Because of this fact the Czech Blood Cross together with transfusion services centers in the Czech Republic and in cooperation with various organizations, e.g. Czech Radio, do their best to obtain new voluntary blood donors via blood donation campaigns. Language of these campaigns is mainly of persuasive character. As such, it is often viewed as a means of white propaganda which stems from factual information and whose aim is to persuade the consumer of the message about the legitimacy of its ideology. White propaganda also helps to build trust which is lately used. In other words, the consumer of the message becomes blood donor. The thesis analyzes persuasive linguistic means of propaganda present in online discourse of the selected campaigns. On the basis of learned facts, the thesis also tries to characterize this discourse type; moreover, it makes suggestions for designing a new blood donation campaign.

Innovative Marketing Trends as a Response to the Changing Consumers / Innovative Marketing Trends as a Response to the Changing Consumers

Keskin, Kaan January 2012 (has links)
In recent years, innovation and the subsequent technological advancements have gained significance in shaping consumer behavior to a disruptive extent. Especially with the advancements in mobile technology, consumer behaviors shifted towards an elevated expectation of mobility and increased interactivity. Marketers who seek a better degree of access to the consumer market and provide customer satisfaction needed to adopt new tools and methods in communication, which would align with their target groups more effectively. Mobile marketing emerged as an innovative technique that is based on and driven by this change in consumer behavior; therefore it is necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of its approach and implementation. In this light, this research paper employs a quantitative approach based on the results' analysis of an online survey conducted by the Author of the thesis, aimed at testing whether there is a strong correlation between mobile marketing efforts and customer satisfaction. Consequently, one can conclude that the same mobile devices that serve as convenience for consumers, serve as an effective channel of communication for marketers, whereas with an integrated approach where other components of the marketing mix support mobile content, the likeliness of attaining consumer satisfaction is higher.

Employee perceptions towards green supply chain management in Gauteng starch and glucose processing industries

Sithole, Khethokuhle Antoinette 08 1900 (has links)
Text in English / Supply chains incorporate “green” principles in their processes to promote environmental sustainability. Through an online survey, this study investigated green supply chain management (GSCM) implementation and employee awareness of GSCM initiatives in five starch and glucose processing companies in Gauteng. Eighty employees working in management and supervisory positions participated in the study by completing an online questionnaire. The research findings indicated that employees are aware of environmental goals and targets, environmental policies, legislation and standards, and green designing initiatives implemented. Employees perceive that collaboration with suppliers and contractors on environmental issues is in place, however, government partnerships are perceived as being insufficient. Benefits of green marketing campaigns and GSCM initiatives have not been identified. The study noted resistance to change, lack of adoption of technology advancement, insufficient communication and training, and cost implications as barriers hindering GSCM success. It is, therefore, recommended that appropriate support and communication regarding GSCM initiatives are strengthened. / College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences / M. Sc.
