The goal of this work was to create an application providing the user with an option of creating interesting and realistic looking montages in few easy steps using a mobile phone. The focus is on simplicity, user friendliness and the speed with which the final montage can be obtained. The work discusses available approaches to building such application, the algorithms needed and also the problems with the implementation of computer vision algo- rithms on a mobile device. It also discusses possible options for speeding up the algorithms through parallelization on newer devices running the iOS operating system.

O presente trabalho propôs-se a estudar o fenômeno de fosqueamento em filmes de tinta em pó feitos a partir de resinas poliésteres sólidas pelo sistema conhecido como Triglicidilisocianutato (TGIC). Este fenômeno é indesejado e ocorre na ocasião de mistura de lotes de tintas produzidos independentemente com resinas poliésteres sólidas que compartilham as mesmas fórmulas, especificações e processo industrial. Amostras de uma tríade de resinas poliéster, que apresenta uma particular relação de fosqueamento, foram estudadas por termogravimetria/ termogravimetria derivada (TG/DTG), calorimetria exploratória diferencial (DSC), espectroscopia de ressonância magnética nuclear de Hidrogênio (1H-RMN), cromatografia de permeação em gel (GPC), análise térmica diferencial (DTA) e espectroscopia de infravermelho com transformada de Fourier (FTIR). A partir da análise minuciosa dos resultados obtidos em cada técnica escolhida, não se notou diferenças significativas que pudessem vir a justificar o fosqueamento indesejado para os lotes estudados. Estas avaliações nos permitiram concluir que o fenômeno não ocorre por contaminação industrial dos materiais e que alguma relação latente de fosqueamento por blenda seca deve ainda ser revelada por estudo subsequente. / The present work endeavored to study the matting phenomenon of powder coatings films made of solid polyester resins through a system known as Triglycidyl isocyanurate (TGIC). This phenomenon is an undesired result and occurs when at the time of blending paint batches produced independently with polyester resins that share the same formula, specifications e industrial process. Samples of a polyester resin triad, that shared a particular matting relation, were studied by thermogravimetry/ thermogravimetry derivative (TG/DTG), differential scanning calorimetry nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR), gel permeation chromatog r(aDpShCy), proton (GPC), differential thermal analysis (DTA) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Through in-depth analyses of all results obtained from each chosen method, no accountable differences, that could justify the undesired matting phenomenon, were noticed. These evaluations paved us the way to conclude that the studied phenomenon was not occurring due to industrial contamination, and that some latent dry blend matting relation is still to be revealed by an ensuing study.

<p>The problem of separating a non-rectangular foreground image from a background image is a classical problem in image processing and analysis, known as matting or keying. A common example is a film frame where an actor is extracted from the background to later be placed on a different background. Compositing of these objects against a new background is one of the most common operations in the creation of visual effects. When the original background is of non-constant color the matting becomes an under determined problem, for which a unique solution cannot be found. </p><p>This thesis describes a framework for computing mattes from images with backgrounds of non-constant color, using Bayesian statistics. Foreground and background color distributions are modeled as oriented Gaussians and optimal color and opacity values are determined using a maximum a posteriori approach. Together with information from optical flow algorithms, the framework produces mattes for image sequences without needing user input for each frame. </p><p>The approach used in this thesis differs from previous research in a few areas. The optimal order of processing is determined in a different way and sampling of color values is changed to work more efficiently on high-resolution images. Finally a gradient-guided local smoothness constraint can optionally be used to improve results for cases where the normal technique produces poor results.</p>

The objective of the thesis was the analysis of reproductive traits of sows. Data from the years 2009?2011 were obtained in the company conducting production herds. The highest number of piglets born alive per one sow a year (26.8) was reached in 2011. The highest number of weaned piglets (25.6) per a sow was obtained in 2010. By shortening farrowing index in a monitored three-year period the number of births increased from 2.29 to 2.35. We found out that sows covered at older age gave birth to more piglets born alive. Concerning total number born piglets the difference between sows covered in more than 246 days and sows covered in the age interval of 225?246 days was 0.14 piglets, or, as the case may be, with sows covered in 203?224 days the difference was 0.18 piglets. Sows covered in less than 203 days gave birth only to 10.67 total number born piglets. Most total number born piglets were found at the sixth litter (13.14), followed by the fourth litter. The fourth litter brought most alive-born piglets (12.58) and differed from the third litter only slightly. Most piglets survived at the third litter (11.61). The relation between all piglets and those alive-born was statistically highly conclusive 0.859+++. The highest number of total number born piglets was reached with sows which were covered 5 (12.84) or 6 days (12.79) after weaning.

Automatic Stereoscopic 3D Chroma-Key Matting Using Perceptual Analysis and PredictionYin, Ling January 2014 (has links)
This research presents a novel framework for automatic chroma keying and the optimizations for real-time and stereoscopic 3D processing. It first simulates the process of human perception on isolating foreground elements in a given scene by perceptual analysis, and then predicts foreground colours and alpha map based on the analysis results and the restored clean background plate rather than direct sampling. Besides, an object level depth map is generated through stereo matching on a carefully determined feature map. In addition, three prototypes on different platforms have been implemented according to their hardware capability based on the proposed framework. To achieve real-time performance, the entire procedures are optimized for parallel processing and data paths on the GPU, as well as heterogeneous computing between GPU and CPU. The qualitative comparisons between results generated by the proposed algorithm and other existing algorithms show that the proposed one is able to generate more acceptable alpha maps and foreground colours especially in those regions that contain translucencies and details. And the quantitative evaluations also validate our advantages in both quality and speed.

This thesis deals with the problem of foreground extraction on mobile devices. The main goal of this project is to find or design segmentation methods for separating a user-selected object from an image (or video). The main requirement of these methods is the image processing time and segmentation quality. Some existing solutions of this problem are mentioned and their usability on mobile devices is discussed. A mobile application is created within the project, demonstrating the implemented real time foreground extraction algorithm.

The lived experience of women affected wtih matted hair in southwestern IndiaDhaske, Govind Ganpati January 2014 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / Descriptions about the matting of hair given by medical practitioners show a significant commonality indicating it as a historic health problem prevalent across the globe, however with less clarity about its etiopathogenesis. In southwestern India, the emergence of matting of hair is considered a deific phenomenon; consequently, people worship the emerged matted hair and restrict its removal. Superstitious beliefs impose a ritualistic lifestyle on affected women depriving them of health and well-being, further leading to stigma, social isolation, and marginalization. For unmarried females, the matting of hair can result in dedication to the coercive devadasi custom whereby women end up marrying a god or goddess. To date, the state, academia, and disciplines such as medicine and psychology have paid far too little attention to the social, cultural, and health concerns of the women affected by matted hair. A Heideggerian interpretive phenomenological study was conducted to document the lived experience of women affected by the phenomenon of matting of hair. The subjective accounts of 13 jata-affected women selected through purposive sampling were documented to understand their health and human rights marginalization through harmful cultural practices surrounding matting of hair. Seven distinct thematic areas emerged from the study exemplified their lived experience as jata-affected women. The prevalent gender-based inequity revealed substantial vulnerability of women to health and human rights marginalization through harmful cultural practices. The ontological structure of the lived experience of matting of hair highlighted the unreflective internalization of religious-based discourse of matting of hair. The hermeneutic exploration revealed events that exemplified jata-affected women’s compromised religiosity, and control of their well-being, human development, and ontological security. The religious-based interpretation of matting of hair and associated practices marginalize the health and human rights of affected women through family members, institutions, society, and religious-based systems. The study demonstrates the need for collaborative, evidence-based interventions and for effective domestic as well as global policies to prevent the health and human rights violations of women through cultural practices. The study offered foundational evidential documentation of the phenomenon of matting of hair as a harmful cultural practice that compromises women’s right to health and well-being.
