Paes, Rafael Lipinski January 2011 (has links)
The need to develop the integration of information and processing products flows in automotive industrial condominium leading to the evaluation and practical proposition so aligned with chain and business members strategy. In this context, two questions become relevant: (i) what is the logic conceptual framework that could support the evaluation and improvement of supply chain management in automotive industrial condominium? considering the use of evaluation maturity models, what is the method to be used to guide companies in evaluating and improving the supply chain management in automotive industrial condominium? Seeking to answer these questions, this thesis aims to propose a model for assessing and improving the supply chain management in automotive industrial condominium supported by maturity levels. To achieve this goal, the research proposes the structure of the model using 7 (seven) steps and suggests a method comprising five phases and 16 steps. For that, initially, using the structure analysis of the supply chain proposed by Lambert and Cooper (2000).Follows the proposal of the integrated use of methodological procedures suggested by Hansen (2004) to deployment the competitiveness of the chain and Multiattribute Utility Theory (MAUT) method. Finally, we present a hybrid maturity model that incorporates methodological procedures suggested by Kerzner (2002) to assess the degree of adherence of the maturity levels of the key application areas and Netland and Alfnes (2008) to assess the degree of execution practices. As its main contribution has a graphical procedure for identifying and prioritizing key-areas to be development supported by concepts of maturity and strategy.

In this paper we discuss the importance of Knowledge Management and Organization Learning as resources in assisting the search for competitive advantage, because they allow the process of creating, capturing, encoding, storage and distribution of knowledge across the organization. Despite the importance of knowledge Management and Organization Learning, there are few resources of performance metrics for such activities, as those in other areas such as Quality Management, Corporate Governance, Information technology, among others. Organization Learning is one of the resources used by companies in pursuit of excellence in management and it is used to disseminate knowledge in the organization and ofter its employees opportunities for learning that enables a better understanding of the realities and challenges of organization, by creating appropriate responses to the strategic challenges presented. Maturity models have been used in various fiels of knowledge to ofter a description of levels of development as they relate to processes, people and organization as one. They constitute a benchmark for organization as one. They constitute a benchmark for organization to evaluate their progress on certain issues, projects and processes, as well to comparate themselves to the best practices in the market field in question. Because of the importance of these issues to organizational life, this work presents a bibliographic study on the topic of maturity models and their applicability in the area of Organization Learning, proposing a diagnostic tool of maturity to maturity levels for monitoring of internal practices and comparison to best market practices in ... Assessment of Agile Maturity Models : A Survey

Deekonda, Rahul, Sirigudi, Prithvi Raj January 2016 (has links)
Context. In recent years Agile has gained lots of importance in the fieldof software development. Many organization and software practitioners hasalready adopted agile practice due to its flexibility in nature. Hence, agiledevelopment methodologies have been replaced to traditional developmentmethods. Agile is a family of several methodologies namely Scrum. eXtremeprogramming (XP) and several others. These several methods areembedded with different set of agile practices for the organizations to adoptand implement for their development process. But there is still a need forempirical research to understand the benefits of implementing the Agilepractices which contributes to the overall success of accomplishment of thesoftware project. Several agile maturity models have been published over adecade but not all of the models have been empirically validated. Hence, additional research in the context of agile maturity is essential and needed. Objectives. This study focus on providing a comprehensive knowledgeon the Agile Maturity Models which help in guiding the organizations regardingthe implementation of Agile practices. There are several maturitymodels published with different set of Agile practices that are recommendedto the industries. The primary aim is to compare the agile maturity maturitymodels and to investigate how the agile practices are implemented inthe industry Later the benefits and limitations faced by the software practitionersdue to implementation of agile practices are identified. Methods. For this particular research an industrial survey was conductedto identify the agile practices that are implemented in the industry. Integrated ESSQ management:as a part of excellent operational and business management—a framework, integration and maturity

Tervonen, P. (Pekka) 21 June 2010 (has links)
Abstract When examining management from the viewpoint of systems approach, the main elements are the overall management systems of a company and the related ESSQ matters and other critical success factors, depending on their theme. Excellent business management e.g. by taking advantage of quality award models is also becoming one of the cornerstones of the success of an organisation. Companies increasingly need more efficient and productive systems to maintain their competitiveness. These kinds of systems should continuously improve the company's operations and increase the satisfaction of customers and other interest groups. A qualitative approach is mainly applied in this dissertation. This dissertation is composed of five research papers, in which qualitative approach is also used. The empirical data of this dissertation were obtained through interviews and a questionnaire among experienced industrial managers. All individual interview results and replies to the questionnaire were analysed and, when appropriate, compared to the literature. Finally, conclusions and synthesis were drawn based on the analysis. As a general conclusion, it can be stated that combining issues that fall under different themes is reasonable because, on one hand, the causes of problems may be common to all areas and, on the other hand, solving one separate problem may easily lead to problems in other fields of business. Business-orientedness can be further increased by taking maturity models into consideration. Organisations, which apply holistic management systems that take all essential success factors of business into consideration, approach the natural functioning of an organisation. The integration of different operational areas into one system will facilitate the management of operations, increase internal co-operation and save resources, time and costs. The starting point of holistic management is that needs can be fully addressed only when all relevant variables of the entire organisational system are taken into consideration. Systematically integrated management systems that cover different operating models in an extensive manner and that function well are not yet common, but there is a clear trend towards the integration of different systems. This dissertation indicates that the ultimate purpose and genuine contribution to business of Integrated ESSQ Management and maturity models is to provide a framework, which helps companies to better understand and incorporate these issues as a part of their overall Operational and Business Management. In principle, every company should develop its own management model that is tailored to meet the needs of the organisation in question.

Do or Die: How large organizations can reach a higher level of digital maturity

Hägg, Jesper, Sandhu, Sandy January 2017 (has links)
The business landscape as we know it is being disrupted by an increasing usage of emerging digital technologies, to reap the benefits of the new technological opportunities managers need to transform their organizations. To do so, research literature proposes striving towards digital maturity. However, knowledge within the area of digital transformation and digital maturity is insufficient amongst organizational leaders. Moreover, theoretical guidance in terms of which changes that are required to increase digital maturity in an organization, is still absent in research literature. To address the academic gap and provide guidance in practical challenges, the research objective to create a framework to evaluate digital maturity was constructed. To reach this objective, the following research questions were derived: RQ1: Which levels can digital maturity be divided into and what characterizes each level? RQ2: When progressing upwards along the digital maturity scale, what are the key dimensions that allow transition from one level to the next? To answer the research questions and thereby meet the research objective, an abductive, multiple case study of large companies in the manufacturing and service industry was performed. 16 interviews and two workshops were conducted to provide the data which was then thematically analyzed and structured to provide answers to the research questions. Our findings were then used to construct the Digital Maturity Framework. Our findings suggest the following three levels of digital maturity; Awareness, Experience, and Autonomy. The characteristics of each levels is expressed in six organizational dimensions, namely Processes, Leadership, Culture, Strategy, Analytics, and IT. To transit from one maturity level to the next, Leadership in terms of change management is a key dimension in all transitions. Before organizations qualify for the level Awareness, they must first lay the foundation through Process management. Experimenting and testing new digital tools and technologies is a key dimension to reach the level Experience, and Strategy is a key dimension in both the transition to Experience and the transition to Autonomy. Our findings contribute with a more nuanced framework of digital maturity as well as guidance for managers about what they need to do to progress in digital maturity. The importance of change management is the most valuable managerial implication of our findings, because change will always trigger friction in the organization, which in turn requires strong and driven leaders to drive the change.

Sales and operations planning in the processindustry : A diagnostic model

JANSSON, JONAS, ÅBERG, FREDRIK January 2014 (has links)
Increased competition and globalisation has created new opportunities and challenges for supply chain planning. Implementation of sales and operations planning (S&OP) has thus become vital for companies in order to keep up with competition. One way of facilitating the implementation and assessing the current state of an S&OP process is by the use of maturity models. The purpose of this study is to; (1) evaluate S&OP maturity models through comparative  nalysis and application on a company in the process industry, (2) develop a maturity model  uitable for the process industry, (3) suggest a method for using it, and (4) add to the limited number of case studies describing the S&OP process of companies in different industries. The study has been conducted using a qualitative case study methodology. Qualitative data has been collected through semi-structured interviews with 19 employees from different levels and functions of the organisation in order to develop a complete picture of the S&OP process at the case company. The evaluation of current S&OP maturity models in a case study context has generated a maturity model suitable for the process industry and a qualitative method for maturity assessment. The assessment has also resulted in an in-depth analysis and description of the S&OP process of a company in the pulp and paper industry.

Towards a New GIS Maturity Model: An Organizational Usage Perspective

Alrwais, Omer Abdulaziz 01 January 2016 (has links)
The first condition required for an Information Technology (IT) system to produce value is that it be used by its designated target group of users. Despite the prevalence of “system use” in IS literature, it has been often limited to the individual level. The organizational perspective is rarely considered. This dissertation focuses on system usage in the GIS domain through an organizational lens. GIS is a technology with the potential to transform government by enhancing business processes and providing a platform to manage spatial and non-spatial data, which is expected to result in better decision-making. However, little is known about how this technology is actually implemented organization-wide and the environment surrounding its use. Current GIS maturity models have not examined this usage broadly or in depth. These models lack empirical validation and measurement tools to diagnose maturity are not readily available. Based on GIS, maturity models, and system usage literature, this dissertation presents a more comprehensive maturity model for evaluating local government usage of GIS along with a measurement tool. This work followed De Bruin et al., (2005) guidelines for developing maturity models. This new model was discussed with practitioners and academics, was pilot-tested, and then widely tested by Southern California local governments through an online questionnaire. Results show support for the validity of the proposed maturity model and demonstrate its utility. This dissertation revealed that system, task, user, organization and GIS department are viable dimensions of GIS usage from an organizational perspective. Results suggest that increasing actual GIS usage leads to an increase in GIS value. Results further show that the efficiency and effectiveness benefits of GIS are mostly realized; however, the societal benefits of GIS are small.
