Vyobrazení Korejského poloostrova ve zpravodajství České televize v letech 2015-2020 / Representation of the Korean Peninsula in the news of Czech Television in years 2015-2020

Kymličková, Petra January 2021 (has links)
The diploma thesis introduces the media image of Korean Peninsula within the news of Czech Television from 2015 to 2020. Korean Peninsula is an incredibly interesting area in terms of history, politics, economics, culture and international relations, including relations between the two Koreas and the Czech Republic. Czech Television was chosen to depict the two state units existing on the Korean Peninsula, which should - due to its specific position as a public service medium - provide viewers objective and impartial news. The theoretical part introduces the basic concepts and theories, focusing on the media public service broadcasting, media construction of reality, gatekeeping and agenda-setting. Considerable attention is also given to Czech Television itself and the Korean Peninsula, where among the other things, the key historical moments of this region are briefly explained and the media environment of both Koreas is overviewed closely. In the practical part, the collected data is analyzed, both quantitative and qualitative methods. Within the content analysis, the data are sorted by frequency, order, topic or tone of the content. It includes an analysis of the most frequent terms and their possible change during the time. The results and finding are summarized at the end of the work and...

Mediální obraz politických protestů organizovaných spolkem Milion Chvilek / The Media Image of the Political Protests Organised by the Society Milion Chvilek

Sehnalová, Anna January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze the influence of media ownership on media depiction of anti-government protests in 2019 organized by a civic organization Milion Chvilek (Million Moments for Democracy) in daily newspapers Lidové noviny and Hospodářské noviny through a comparative content analysis. Lidové noviny is a part of MAFRA media group owned by current Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš with his ownership share placed in a trust managed by his wife and other close associates. Daily newsprint and other publications in this media group found themselves in a situation where they had to report about protests focused on their de facto owner. A public debate centered around Andrej Babiš's possible conflict of interest has been ongoing since his entry into politics. Babiš's strong position in the media industry is one of the debate's focal points. According to his critics, this position could enable him to manipulate public mood which would provide him with an unfair advantage in the political arena. On a selected sample of articles about 2019 protests published in the above-mentioned newspapers, this media analysis strives to unveil to what extent the coverage, tone and space for commentaries from politicians and other public actors in Lidové noviny differ from Hospodářské noviny, which is deemed most...

政治人物在報紙的形象轉變研究:中國時報、聯合報、自由時報有關連戰報導的內容分析(1998-2004) / A study of the press image change of political figures : a contentanalysis of China Times, United Daily News and The Liberty Times of Lien Chan(1998-2004)

陳文浩, Chen, Wen Hao Unknown Date (has links)
It shows from both the research of election or image, image creation can help political figures enter politics. Image is indeed an influential factor of voting behavior. The designers and constructors perceive time as equal and important elements. Therefore, the media (newspaper) has such a big influence on political figures in forming the image of public figures. This study examines the image change of Lien Chan during his campaign for presidency from 2000 to 2004 in China Times, United Daily News and The Liberty Times. In order to understand the construction and the presentation of political figures image, and the gap between construction of election image and media image, the press image change of political figures in message design construct and present changing political figures’ image as well. This research found that the political figures’ media image is a long-lasting process which will affect greatly how the voters perceive the candidates. During the period of elections, such a portrait no doubt will affect the voter’s final choice. To investigate the process of political figures’ image change can make figure change more understandable by both politicians and the public. Through this case study, we can understand some issues about image specifically in the field of image change for political figure thus giving some suggestions.

Analysis of 3D echocardiography

Chykeyuk, Kiryl January 2014 (has links)
Heart disease is the major cause of death in the developed world. Due to its fast, portable, low-cost and harmless way of imaging the heart, echocardiography has become the most frequent tool for diagnosis of cardiac function in clinical routine. However, visual assessment of heart function from echocardiography is challenging, highly operatordependant and is subject to intra- and inter observer errors. Therefore, development of automated methods for echocardiography analysis is important towards accurate assessment of cardiac function. In this thesis we develop new ways to model echocardiography data using Bayesian machine learning methods and concern three problems: (i) wall motion analysis in 2D stress echocardiography, (ii) segmentation of the myocardium in 3D echocardiography, and (iii) standard views extraction from 3D echocardiography. Firstly, we propose and compare four discriminative methods for feature extraction and wall motion classification of 2D stress echocardiography (images of the heart taken at rest and after exercise or pharmalogical stress). The four methods are based on (i) Support Vector Machines, (ii) Relevance Vector Machines, (iii) Lasso algorithm and Regularised Least Squares, (iv) Elastic Net regularisation and Regularised Least Squares. Although all the methods are shown to have superior performance to the state-of-the-art, one conclusion is that good segmentation of the myocardium in echocardiography is key for accurate assessment of cardiac wall motion. We investigate the application of one of the most promising current machine learning techniques, called Decision Random Forests, to segment the myocardium from 3D echocardiograms. We demonstrate that more reliable and ultrasound specific descriptors are needed in order to achieve the best results. Specifically, we introduce two sets of new features to improve the segmentation results: (i) LoCo and GloCo features with a local and a global shape constraint on coupled endoand epicardial boundaries, and (ii) FA features, which use the Feature Asymmetry measure to highlight step-like edges in echocardiographic images. We also reinforce the traditional features such as Haar and Rectangular features by aligning 3D echocardiograms. For that we develop a new registration technique, which is based on aligning centre lines of the left ventricles. We show that with alignment performance is boosted by approximately 15%. Finally, a novel approach to detect planes in 3D images using regression voting is proposed. To the best of our knowledge we are the first to use a one-step regression approach for the task of plane detection in 3D images. We investigate the application to standard views extraction from 3D echocardiography to facilitate efficient clinical inspection of cardiac abnormalities and diseases. We further develop a new method, called the Class- Specific Regression Forest, where class label information is incorporating into the training phase to reinforce the learning from semantically relevant to the problem classes. During testing the votes from irrelevant classes are excluded from voting to maximise the confidence of output predictors. We demonstrate that the Class-Specific Regression Random Forest outperforms the classic Regression Random Forest and produces results comparable to the manual annotations.

Obraz televizního novináře v amerických televizních seriálech (od Mary Tyler Moore Show po Newsroom) / The image of television journalist in american television series (from Mary Tyler Moore Show to Newsroom)

Pavelková, Eva January 2015 (has links)
The objective of this master thesis The image of television journalist in American television series is to unveil personality traits of main characters in five selected American series during five decades (from the beginning of the 1970s to present) by means of combination of interpretative reading and semiotic (visual) analysis, and by that interpret representation of journalists. Subsequently the typologies of journalistic characters by Brian McNair and Joe Saltzman are used to categorize 27 central figures to types or stereorypes. Majority of characters combined more different types but it could be stated that all images of journalists were positive - possibly due to bigger popularity among viewers. Simultaneously it is neccesary to point out that characters across analysed series classified to same categories are not fully identical - characters show enough resemblance for type identification but similarities are outweighed by differences.
