El Niño Southern Oscillation Influences on Precipitation, Discharge, and Nutrient Concentrations in the Upper Salt River Watershed in Arizona

January 2012 (has links)
abstract: Many studies over the past two decades examined the link between climate patterns and discharge, but few have attempted to study the effects of the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) on localized and watershed specific processes such as nutrient loading in the Southwestern United States. The Multivariate ENSO Index (MEI) is used to describe the state of the ENSO, with positive (negative) values referring to an El Niño condition (La Niña condition). This study examined the connection between the MEI and precipitation, discharge, and total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) concentrations in the Upper Salt River Watershed in Arizona. Unrestricted regression models (UMs) and restricted regression models (RMs) were used to investigate the relationship between the discharges in Tonto Creek and the Salt River as functions of the magnitude of the MEI, precipitation, and season (winter/summer). The results suggest that in addition to precipitation, the MEI/season relationship is an important factor for predicting discharge. Additionally, high discharge events were associated with high magnitude ENSO events, both El Niño and La Niña. An UM including discharge and season, and a RM (restricting the seasonal factor to zero), were applied to TN and TP concentrations in the Salt River. Discharge and seasonality were significant factors describing the variability in TN in the Salt River while discharge alone was the significant factor describing TP. TN and TP in Roosevelt Lake were evaluated as functions of both discharge and MEI. Some significant correlations were found but internal nutrient cycling as well as seasonal stratification of the water column of the lake likely masks the true relationships. Based on these results, the MEI is a useful predictor of discharge, as well as nutrient loading in the Salt River Watershed through the Salt River and Tonto Creek. A predictive model investigating the effect of ENSO on nutrient loading through discharge can illustrate the effects of large scale climate patterns on smaller systems. / Dissertation/Thesis / M.S. As costureiras do MEI : uma análise do trabalho subcontratado das facções do polo regional de confeccções de Maringá - PR

Martinelli, Samanta Elisa January 2017 (has links)
Orientadora: Profª. Drª. / Abstract: The process of implementation of the flexibility of labour relations in the Brazilian scenario is in the midst of an intense debate. The flexible modalities as home working and the increase of subcontracting arise as the centrepieces of the current productive process in the clothing segment, which derives from the major enterprises productive downsizing. In this regard, we observe the growth of the denominated factions, subcontracted micro establishments of home-based work, responsible for all the sewing process for the larger companies (contractors). The factions, our research object, represent the most fragile link in this extensive productive chain, demonstrating the maintenance of exploitation forms under new costumes. Under the approach of the flexible accumulation process, we aim to understand the importance of the acting of these sewing micro establishments for the flexible productivity logic, as well as to analyze the impacts of the flexible modalities under the working conditions in which the seamstresses are daily subjected to. For this purpose, we methodologically follow the productive and commercial "tracks" of this sector, which lead us to a wide field trajectory involving visits to larger companies (large and medium-sized companies), smaller companies, syndicates and factions. On this path, it is also emphasized in our research the stimulus to the formalization process of the subcontracted home factions, framed into the category of small individual companies, becoming a service provider, fact which has dissembled the real labour condition of these seamstresses. Keywords: Factions, Flexibilization; Subcontracting; Small Individual Company.

Erhebung, Transformation und Präsentation digitaler Forschungsdaten

Ried, Dennis 09 November 2020 (has links)
The process of data acquisition and transformation of Baumann Digital and Joachim-Raff-Archiv is the subject of this poster description. The data in both projects is (meanwhile) based on TEI and MEI to obtain a machine-readable corpus. The presentation platform created for this project was initially intended as a simple form of visualization for internal use, i. e. for structuring, proofreading of digital contents and first evaluations. The xQuery-based application for eXist-db was developed in detail during the first period of the Baumann Digital project, adding the dimension of public presentation to its original purpose. This poster focuses on the process of collecting, transforming and presenting the data of these two small projects, which have different research interests but deal with similar archival material.

Algorithmische Automatisierung komplexer Notationsregeln in MEI-XML am Beispiel von Versetzungszeichen

Sapov, Oleksii 09 November 2020 (has links)
Algorithmic automation of the complex music notation rules in MEI–XML through the example of the accidentals: The article demonstrates how music notation rules can be formalized into a computer algorithm. In particular, it handles the rule, whether the accidentals should be rendered or not when they repeat on the notes of the same pitch in the same measure. The decision process is described step-by-step while referring to the music notation rules. The algorithm was implemented in the XSLT-language for the needs of the Digital Interactive Mozart Edition and can be applied to MEI data. The tool can be downloaded from <https://github.com/ism-dme/DIME-tools>.

Digitale Edition und Harmonische Analyse mit MEI von Anton Bruckners Studienbuch

Seipelt, Agnes 09 November 2020 (has links)
The poster shows the results obtained in the project “Digital Music Analysis with the Techniques of the Music Encoding Initiative (MEI) using Anton Bruckner’s compositional studies as an example” (2017 to 2019). On the one hand, the project had the goal of presenting a digital edition of Anton Bruckner’s study book, which he produced during his lessons with Otto Kitzler from 1861 to 1863. An edition of the music in the textbook encoded with MEI and displayed using Verovio and the facsimile can be displayed simultaneously. On the other hand, an automated harmonic analysis of this music was to be designed. For this purpose, keys are recognized using the Krumhansl-Schmuckler algorithm that is based on a resource of pitch classes which are compared with reference values and thus their similarity is calculated. Based on this, chord recognitions are carried out, which are then linked to the keys in the last step and converted to a roman numeral analysis.
