Esta construção ao mesmo tempo política e intelectual - o conduz a um mergulho no passado da região, em busca da glória e do fausto perdidos. Desta (re) construção emerge o intelectual com uma visão de mundo senhorial ontologicamente (e organicamente) ligada ao mundo dos engenhos e da casa-grande. Nos textos de interpretação sociológica que produziu desde o início da década de 20 do século passado, já aparecem as matrizes temáticas que estarão presentes nos romances de José Lins do Rego, escritos na década seguinte, consubstanciando, assim, um rico desdobramento estético daquele regionalismo e, ao mesmo tempo, uma interseção entre sociologia e literatura que abordamos a partir de ensaios, romances e cartas destes dois autores onde sociologia e romance, conceitos e afetos e ideologias se fundem na compreensão, ora empática, ora nostálgica, ora dramática de uma sociabilidade que remonta às raízes imemoriais de nossa sociedade. Eis o nosso tema. / Gilberto Freyre is the main elaborator of the set of ideas concerning Northeast region. This construction - politicai and intellectual one at the same time - brings him about to the past period of the mentioned region, in search of the lost glory and pomp. From this (re) construction the intellectual arises, with a manorial world perspective, ontologically (and organically) related to the sugar plant and to the owner's house worlds. In his sociological interpretation texts written since the beginning of 20's, from the past century, there are already the main themes which will be in José Lins do Rego's novéis written in the following decade, by consubstantiating, this way, a rich aesthetic act of unfolding about the cited regionalism and, at the same time, an intersection between Sociology and Literature that we studied by dealing with essays, novéis and letters from these two authors which mix up Sociology and novel, concepts. fondness and ideologies under an understanding which varies from a nostalgic one to a dramatic or empathic one about a sociability that belongs to the immemorial roots of our society.
