Santrauka. Šio darbo tikslas yra įvertinti Merkio upės baseino 1992-2008 m. laikotarpiu vandens kokybės kaitos tendencijas ir priežastis. Įvertinti esamą vandens telkinių būklę, turi būti atliekami nuolatiniai paviršinių vandens telkinių stebėjimai. Pagrindiniu parametru vandens kokybės valdyme tampa biologiniai parametrai, kuriems įtakos ir ne mažiau svarbūs turi hidrocheminiai vandens parametrai. Paviršiniame vandens kokybės vertinime svarbią vietą užima biologiniai rodikliai, tiksliau rūšys, kurios tiesiogiai reaguoja į vandens užterštumą. Šio darbo tyrimo objektas – hidromorfologiniai, keli bendrieji – cheminiai Merkio pabaseinio upių 4-ių monitoringo vietų: žemiau Dubininkų, aukščiau Varėnos, žemiau Šalčininkų ir žemiau Puvočių 1992 – 2008 m. duomenys. Iki 2005 m. šie taškai – mėginių paėmimo vietos buvo nuolatinės matavimo vietos. Nuo 2005 m. monitoringo vietos pagausėjo, stebėjimų taškai išsibarstė po visą Merkio upės baseiną. 1992 – 2008 m. duomenys, gauti iš Aplinkos apsaugos agentūros, Upių baseinų valdymo skyriaus. Vertinant esamą šių vietų vandens kokybę, buvo atrenkami pagrindiniai parametrai, kurie galėtų vizualiai atspindėti vandens kokybės kaitą. Analizuojant Merkio upės vandens kokybę, buvo parenkami tiriamųjų parametrų duomenys pagal metinį sezoniškumą. Visi fiziniai – cheminiai parametrai buvo matuojami ir fiksuojami kasmet, 12 kartų per metus, kiekvieno mėnesio bėgyje. The aim of this work is to evaluate the tendencies and reasons of the quality changes of the water of Merkio river-basin during 1992-2008. On purpose to evaluate the condition of existing pieces of water it is necessary to make permanent observations of surface pieces of water. The main parameter of the management of water quality becomes biological parameters which are influenced by equally important hydrochemical water parameters. In the surface evaluation of water quality biological parameters play an important role, more precisely the species which react directly to the water pollution. The subject of research is hydro morphologic, some common – chemical monitoring data of 4 places of Merkio river-basin: down Dubininkai, higher up Varena, down Salcininai and down Puvociai during 1992 – 2008. Until 2005 these points – the places of sample taking were the permanent measuring points. Since 2005 the number of monitoring places has increased; observation points have spread all over the basin of the river Merkys. The data of 1992 – 2008 have been received from Environment protection Agency, River-basin management department. Evaluating the current water quality in these places there were selected the main parameters that could visually reflect the changes of water quality. The Merkys river pool is one of the best suitable places for environment, great cultural heritage and dietary peculiarities of the rivers. The Merkys and its affluents – the Visinčia, the Grūda, the Šalčia, the Ūla, the Varėnė are some of the most beautiful and cleanest rivers in Lithuania. Picturesque country – side pineries, steep slopes, banks, deep pools, sandy coastlines and many well – equipped camping places make the Merkys attractive for tourists. This work covers a detailed gydrological anglysis of the Merkys river pool, provides segments of privers suitable for water tourism, describes prominent sightseeing places. The Merkys river pool is in the southeast of Lithuania. The Merkys river system includes 810 rivers and serams of different sizes whose total lenght is 2413km. There are 175 lakes of different size, occupying 39,7km2. Their bigger part is in the Dzūkija Eminence. Privers and pouds make up the base of hydrographic net in the other part of the Merkys river pool. Woodlands take up about 50% of the territory: 4 natural reserves, the national park of Dzūkija and 28 reservations of different purposes. The Merky‘s pool is one of the oldest living places in Lithuania.
