A Web Service Composition Model in Support of Flexible Service Composition and Data IntegrationLee, Chien-Hsiang 21 August 2012 (has links)
Although the benefits of reusing services have been widely acknowledged, composing existing services to realize different user requirements is still a difficult and time consuming task. There have been research works on workflow templates and service design patterns that offer a higher level of reuse and assist in the composition process. Yet existing workflow templates are too specific and service design patterns may be too abstract and their effectiveness in assisting the composition process may be limited. In this dissertation, we propose a comprehensive service pattern model that is more flexible than existing workflow/service templates while allowing systematic instantiation into some concrete workflows. The service pattern supports flow control, abstract services, and prospect services (similar to a node in a design pattern). Also, we develop a set of reasoning rules to automatically verify and determine the assignment of instantiation parameters in service pattern. In addition, recent research into automated Web service composition focuses on control flow specification and enforcement. Traditionally, message mismatch between Web services appears as an orthogonal problem that can be solved using XML-based query languages. This study instead considers Web service composition and message manipulation holistically to support greater optimization of Web service composition. A proposed model, the WS-data model, focuses on data exchanges in composing Web services. Several operators with varying properties can be used to compose Web services and manipulate their input and output data. Experiments conducted on the Amazon Cloud platform show that these operators¡¦ properties can be used to develop a more efficient way for realizing a complex task, expressed according to the proposed WS-data model. It is hoped that the proposed models and automated reasoning of instantiation parameters assignment will realize the benefits of SOA in the real business settings.

<p>VizzAnalyzer is a program analysis tool that can be used for analyzing software programs. It relies on so called Front-Ends for information extraction from various sources like C or Java source code. It allows analyzing different source code by mapping the language specific front-end meta-model onto a common meta-model, on which analysis are defined. Right now we use the Eclipse Parser for parsing Java source code. This requires an Eclipse installation involving a large number of dependencies in order to work with Java source code. Yet, this is not always feasible; we want to be independent from Eclipse using an alternative parser.</p><p>Recoder is a Java meta-programming application program interface (API) that can be used to write Java programs that manipulate and analyze other Java programs. The Recoder framework provides over an application programming interface detailed access to the source code in form of an abstract syntax tree (AST). It has a small footprint and no external dependencies.</p><p>We create the Recoder Front-End as alternative to the existing Eclipse front-end. This includes the definition of a mapping between Recoder Front-End Meta-Model to Common Meta-Model. The mapping result will be used by VizzAnalyzer to do further analysis work. This Bachelor thesis documents relevant theory regarding Recoder Front-End and discusses its development and implementation.</p>

After introducing the conception of UML component diagram, it describes the overview of component software, components and component technologies of major players on ground of component software: OMG, Sun, Microsoft. A significant part is dedicated to software frameworks for the Eclipse platform for manipulating with meta models. EMF, GEF and GMF are described in more detail. The main part presents the design, implementation and evaluation of a graphical editor for designing component systems with emphasis on understandability and good arrangement.

This thesis concerns optimization of structures considering various uncertainties. The overall objective is to find methods to create solutions that are optimal both in the sense of handling the typical load case and minimising the variability of the response, i.e. robust optimal designs. Traditionally optimized structures may show a tendency of being sensitive to small perturbations in the design or loading conditions, which of course are inevitable. To create robust designs, it is necessary to account for all conceivable variations (or at least the influencing ones) in the design process. The thesis is divided in two parts. The first part serves as a theoretical background to the second part, the two appended articles. This first part includes the concept of robust design, basic statistics, optimization theory and meta modelling. The first appended paper is an application of existing methods on a large industrial example problem. A sensitivity analysis is performed on a Scania truck cab subjected to impact loading in order to identify the most influencing variables on the crash responses. The second paper presents a new method that may be used in robust optimizations, that is, optimizations that account for variations and uncertainties. The method is demonstrated on both an analytical example and a Finite Element example of an aluminium extrusion subjected to axial crushing. / ROBDES

Sustainable organisational performance imperatives that generate shareholder value are strategy, execution, culture, structure, talent, innovation, leadership and growth. These superannuated management practices are still valid. Today it is even more vital to contrive and rethink these imperatives to renew business excellence in an undefined market space, the circular economy, and to reverse engineer product offerings.
At the root of performance remain team members, team leaders and managers with their neurological representations, states of consciousness, abstract levels of awareness and the higher levels of thought. These thoughts create their reality and the way they create meaning of and contributing to this world. It also provides choice and generates excellence, performance and the success of the organisation.
The principal purpose of this research has been to develop an Integrated Meta-model of Team Excellence by aligning the life-cycle of an employee, management-leadership, team culture, diversity and climate in view of the pressures of the business environment in order to execute an excellent performance outcome at the operational level to provide customer service and drive shareholder value.
The first objective of the research was to model team excellence to enable performance so that the current performance level in a team can be determined, developmental opportunities can be identified and excellent performance parameters can be deliberated on for emulation, recruitment team fit and placement.
Two instruments were applied for profiling. The thinking preferences were profiled with the Inventory of Work and Attitude Motivation Instrument (iWAM®) and the Values System Questionnaire (VSQ®) was used to profile and analyse the complexity of value structures as drivers of organisational performance.
Contrastive analyses were conducted for the managers, team leaders and teams with the conclusion that a manager, a team leader and team members can create the fundamental conditions for emotionally and socially intelligent ability and capacity to facilitate performance.
The capacity to model thinking preferences of outliers and poor performers and engineer a contextual Model of Excellence for a specific team in a specific environment distinguishes the work of Merlevede in that it has at its core a more accurate approach to identify areas of development, selection, team fit, design of appropriate coaching and mentoring interventions to improve and sustain team performance. / PhD (Business Administration), North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2015

In today’s world we see that Embedded Systems forms a major part in the life of a human being. Almost every device today has an electronic chip embedded in it. When it comes to automotive, these electronic devices are multiplying. This has resulted in innovative methods of developing Embedded Systems. Among them, Model Based Development has become very popular and a standard way of developing embedded systems. Now, we can see that most embedded systems, especially the automotive systems, are being developed using Model development tools like Simulink. In the design and development of Driver Assistance System, Model Based Design (MBD) plays an important role from system design and simulation to code generation. Modeling tool Matlab/Simulink is now among the most popular tools. Due to the proprietary nature of Simulink and challenges in requirement elicitation phase the industry is looking towards an open source alternative, such as Scicos. Since, most of the OEMs are still using Simulink, there is a need for interoperability between Simulink and Scicos. The present work proposes metamodels for Simulink and Scicos, and Model transformation using these Metamodels for the inter-operability.
In order to develop the model transformation the metamodels for Simulink and Scicos were developed using EMF Ecore. These metamodels conform to OMGs MOF Standards. These metamodels were used in developing the transformation definition using the language QVTo. First a simple model was developed, and transformation rules were applied and verified using it. Then a Simulink subsystem of a cross wind assistance system was subjected to forward transformation. The outputs of the model before transformation and that after transformation were compared. They were found to give the same output as desired. Thus, verifying the transformation definition. An attempt was made to achieve reverse transformation. A subsystem in Scicos was considered for reverse transformation. After subjecting it to transformation, an intermediate model conforming to Simulink metamodel was obtained. This shows that the interoperability between Scicos and Simulink can be achieved.
