Gevolge van gebrekkige ouerbetrokkenheid by leerders met Fetale Alkohol Sindroom soos ervaar deur onderwysers in die Wes-Kaap : 'n kwalitatiewe studie

Swart, Hanri January 2020 (has links)
This research project was done to determine what the consequences are for children with foetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) when their parents are uninvolved, as experienced by teachers in the Western Cape. A qualitative approach was used to conduct nine in-depth interviews with teachers. The teachers were asked to share their lived experiences about the consequences of parents being uninvolved as well as the factors that stop parents from being involved in their children’s schooling, disciplining and provision of support. The researcher aimed to investigate the experiences of teachers since they are aware of the consequences of lacking parental involvement and the influence it may have on a child with FAS. Currently, there is no research in the Western Cape that specifically centres around the teachers’ experiences of lacking parent involvement and the consequences thereof. Research has been done on the prevalence and prevention of FAS although little attention has been given to the role of a parent and their involvement and the possible negative consequences when the parents are uninvolved. The study also aimed to shed light on the unique challenges FAS learners pose in terms of discipline as well as the influences that a lack of parenting may have on a FAS child’s behaviour and consequently their future. / Olu phando lwenziwa ngenjongo yokuqwalasela iziqhamo zokuchaphazeleka butywala kubantwana abesesesibelekweni, le nto kuthiwa yifoetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) ngesiNgesi. Kwaqwalaselwa ezi ziqhamo kubantwana abasesikolweni, xa abazali babo bengathathi nxaxheba emfundweni yabo, ngokwamava eetitshala zephondo laseNtshona Koloni. Kwasetyenziswa uphando olusekelwe kwiingxoxo nokuzathuza, ngokuqhuba udliwano ndlebe olunzulu neetitshala ezilithoba. Ezi titshala zacelwa ukuba zibalise ngamava azo ngeziqhamo zokungazibandakanyi kwabazali kwakunye nezinto ezibangela ukuba bangazibandakanyi abazali ekufundeni kwabantwana babo, ekubaqeqesheni nasekubaxhaseni. Umphandi wayejolise ekuphandeni amava eetitshala kuba zona ziyazibona iziqhamo zokungazibandakanyi kwabazali nendlela le nto inokumchaphazela ngayo umntwana one-FAS. Sithetha nje, alukho uphando eNtshona Koloni olugxininisa kumava eetitshala malunga nokungazibandakanyi kwabazali neziqhamo zoko. Lukhona uphando olwenziweyo ngokuxhaphaka nokuthintela i-FAS kodwa ayikafumani ngqwalasela indima yomzali nokuzibandakanya kunye neziqhamo ezibi zokungazibandakanyi kwabazali. Olu phando lwalukwajolise ekuboniseni imingeni eveliswa ngabantwana abane-FAS xa beqeqeshwa, kunye nefuthe lokungabikho kwenkxaso yobuzali emntwaneni one-FAS kwisimilo sakhe nekamva lakhe. / Educational Studies / M. Registered nurses' perception regarding the bureaucratic view of power in health care services in the Tshwane metropolitan region

Moji, Vindi Sarah 30 September 2006 (has links)
This study investigated the registered nurses' perceptions of the bureaucratic view of power in health care services in the Tshwane metropolitan region. The study further sought to describe how power affects the role of registered nurses in an organisation that is perceived to be predominantly bureaucratic in its' approach to management. A quantitative descriptive exploratory approach was adopted. Data was drawn from 121 respondents by random distribution of questionnaires to three selected health care services in the Tshwane metropolitan region. The findings revealed that registered nurses were largely divided in their perception of the bureaucratic view of power in health care services. Almost half of the respondents indicated that great strides had been taken by organisations in transforming health care services in accordance with the White Paper (1997) on Transformation of the Health System in South Africa and the recommendations of the 2001 Health Summit. The others indicated that registered nurses still needed to break out of the restraints of their dependant role towards taking ownership of health care services by equally bearing the burden of the organisation with management. / Health Studies / M.A.(Health Studies)

Malatji, Mashilo Abram. January 2015 (has links)
M. Tech. Business Administration / This study aims to evaluate how the use of mobile messaging applications by small enterprises can help build sustainable businesses by assisting small enterprise owners to mobilise their services and products in order to take advantage of the rapid growing base of mobile consumers in Africa and beyond the continent. The common major constraints to the growth and development of SMMEs in developing countries include: limited access to finance, limited access to business training, technological limitations, limited access to markets, poor transport infrastructure and limited business management skills. It was further found that the lack of use of the different kinds of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) was attributed to issues around need, affordability, availability and access.

Midwives's perception of ethical behaviour and professional malpractice in the labour units of Tshwane, Gauteng Province, South Africa

Mashigo, Manare Margaret 09 1900 (has links)
Aim: The purpose of this study is to establish midwives’ perception of ethical and professional malpractices in labour units and to enhance the awareness of ethical behaviour and professional practice by midwives. Design: A qualitative, exploratory, descriptive and cross sectional design was followed to explore the midwives understanding of and experiences of ethical practice and professional malpractices in Labour Units of Tshwane, Gauteng Province. A non-probability purposive sampling was used to draw a sample from midwives with two or more years of experience working in Labour Units. Data collection: Individual in-depth interviews using open ended questions were used to collect data. Interviews were recorded using an audio tape recorder, which was later transcribed verbatim. Data collection was continuous until saturation was reached with the eight (n=8) participant. Findings: the results of the study revealed that midwives do understand the ethical code of conduct. However, due to challenges such as shortage of staff; shortage of material resources; non-compliance of midwives to policies and guidelines; fear of decision-making; and lack of management support, all this makes ethical conduct more challenging. It is hoped that the findings of this research will make contributions to midwifery training and practice. / Health Studies / M.A. (Health Studies)

An evaluation of the water quality and toxicity of wastewater at selected car wash facilities in Tshwane, Gauteng

Phungula, Sbongile Promise 24 August 2016 (has links)
Car washing consumes large quantities of water and results in large amounts of wastewater effluent being generated, but has received little attention as a potential source of water pollution globally. The study investigated the water use, wastewater effluent quality and toxicity of selected carwashes in City of Tshwane. Ten carwashes in the City of Tshwane were purposively selected and analysis done on a variety of water quality aspects including microbiological, toxicity, BOD,COD, oil and grease, anionic surfactants, sulphates, phosphates and heavy metals. The results obtained show that oil and grease exceeded the WHO and National Water Act standards of 2.5mg/L in all sites except CW2 and Diesel range organics were significantly high in some sites (CW4, 7 & 8) at 60.5, 40 and 48.8mg/L. COD and BOD of the waste water exceeded the WHO standards of 30mg/L and 60mg/L in all sites except CW2. Bacteria contamination was very high in all wastewater samples and all samples exhibited (mild to high) toxicity to Vibrio fischeri and high toxicity to Daphnia pulex except CW2. These results suggest that wastewater from carwashes is high in some pollutants that may interfere with the receiving environment and municipal treatment systems and there is a need for responsible authorities to regulate the quality of effluent discharged into the environment / Environmental Sciences / M.Sc.
