MapReduce network enabled algorithms for classification based on association rules

Hammoud, Suhel January 2011 (has links)
There is growing evidence that integrating classification and association rule mining can produce more efficient and accurate classifiers than traditional techniques. This thesis introduces a new MapReduce based association rule miner for extracting strong rules from large datasets. This miner is used later to develop a new large scale classifier. Also new MapReduce simulator was developed to evaluate the scalability of proposed algorithms on MapReduce clusters. The developed associative rule miner inherits the MapReduce scalability to huge datasets and to thousands of processing nodes. For finding frequent itemsets, it uses hybrid approach between miners that uses counting methods on horizontal datasets, and miners that use set intersections on datasets of vertical formats. The new miner generates same rules that usually generated using apriori-like algorithms because it uses the same confidence and support thresholds definitions. In the last few years, a number of associative classification algorithms have been proposed, i.e. CPAR, CMAR, MCAR, MMAC and others. This thesis also introduces a new MapReduce classifier that based MapReduce associative rule mining. This algorithm employs different approaches in rule discovery, rule ranking, rule pruning, rule prediction and rule evaluation methods. The new classifier works on multi-class datasets and is able to produce multi-label predications with probabilities for each predicted label. To evaluate the classifier 20 different datasets from the UCI data collection were used. Results show that the proposed approach is an accurate and effective classification technique, highly competitive and scalable if compared with other traditional and associative classification approaches. Also a MapReduce simulator was developed to measure the scalability of MapReduce based applications easily and quickly, and to captures the behaviour of algorithms on cluster environments. This also allows optimizing the configurations of MapReduce clusters to get better execution times and hardware utilization.

Rozšíření systému AR2NL pro další procedury systému LISp-Miner

Koman, Michal January 2007 (has links)

Três Ranchos miners risked the fate of most workers, ignored to follow regarding its importance and relationship to the historical process, and the consequences and repercussions that their work resulted in the transformation of the space. Clearly the presence of the miner every day in Três Ranchos, printed marks that remain even after all this time closed the mining of diamonds, which lasted from mid-1930 until 1981. That year he graduated reservoir Hydropower Plant Emborcação, banning workers from places where worked. The mining, extractive, primary, interrupted suddenly function of flooding, has been replaced by others, to cater to tourism arising, those related to the service sector, qualified as the tertiary stage of the economy. This new economic environment (attractive to some, damaging the opinion of others) has as its background the mischaracterization of the territory by the deployment of hydropower, an event that is one of the most striking contemporary designs of capital reproduction. The historical-geographical process, values and habits of the miner, his relationship with the natural and social environment, the socio-cultural contribution, the symbols related to the environment from mining and the diamond itself, the exploitation of labor by “fornecedor” and the “capangueiro”, the consequences for the environment adjacent to mining after the flood, the dispossession of the worker proceeded and how to restructure, etc. are constituent elements of this study. And to understand the plots that engages the diamond (or that are woven in consequence thereof) as well as its geological constitution gives several scientific papers were used. Moreover, as a methodology, considering that memory is an effective appeal to refer to spatiality, and specific documentation on the subject was poor, appealed to the orality of the miners as well as the photographs of the time. Also resorted to fiction and memoir writers and travelers, precious expedients to contribute to clarify what moves these guys. Thus is fulfilled is the central objective proposed, to emphasize the importance of the miner and his work, bringing them to the surface of the story.

Ant tree miner amyntas for intrusion detection

Botes, Frans Hendrik January 2018 (has links)
Thesis (MTech (Information Technology))--Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2018. / With the constant evolution of information systems, companies have to acclimatise to the vast increase of data flowing through their networks. Business processes rely heavily on information technology and operate within a framework of little to no space for interruptions. Cyber attacks aimed at interrupting business operations, false intrusion detections and leaked information burden companies with large monetary and reputational costs. Intrusion detection systems analyse network traffic to identify suspicious patterns that intent to compromise the system. Classifiers (algorithms) are used to classify the data within different categories e.g. malicious or normal network traffic. Recent surveys within intrusion detection highlight the need for improved detection techniques and warrant further experimentation for improvement. This experimental research project focuses on implementing swarm intelligence techniques within the intrusion detection domain. The Ant Tree Miner algorithm induces decision trees by using ant colony optimisation techniques. The Ant Tree Miner poses high accuracy with efficient results. However, limited research has been performed on this classifier in other domains such as intrusion detection. The research provides the intrusion detection domain with a new algorithm that improves upon results of decision trees and ant colony optimisation techniques when applied to the domain. The research has led to valuable insights into the Ant Tree Miner classifier within a previously unknown domain and created an intrusion detection benchmark for future researchers.

Fatigue Life Calculation By Rainflow Cycle Counting Method

Ariduru, Secil 01 December 2004 (has links) (PDF)
In this thesis, fatigue life of a cantilever aluminum plate with a side notch under certain loading conditions is analyzed. Results of experimental stress analysis of the cantilever aluminum plate by using a uniaxial strain gage are presented. The strain gage is glued on a critical point at the specimen where stress concentration exists. Strain measurement is performed on the base-excited cantilever beam under random vibration test in order to examine the life profile simulation. The fatigue analysis of the test specimen is carried out in both time and frequency domains. Rainflow cycle counting in time domain is examined by taking the time history of load as an input. Number of cycles is determined from the time history. In frequency domain analysis, power spectral density function estimates of normal stress are obtained from the acquired strain data sampled at 1000 Hz. The moments of the power spectral density estimates are used to find the probability density function estimate from Dirlik&rsquo / s empirical expression. After the total number of cycles in both time and frequency domain approaches are found, Palmgren-Miner rule, cumulative damage theory, is used to estimate the fatigue life. Results of fatigue life estimation study in both domains are comparatively evaluated. Frequency domain approach is found to provide a marginally safer prediction tool in this study.

Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling Of Airflow patterns around a Room-and-pillar mining face area

Kantipudi, Rohini 01 December 2009 (has links)
In this study, Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling (CFD) was applied to model a room-and-pillar mining working area to investigate the airflow patterns for dust control. Room-and-pillar mining is a conventional underground mining technique used for the extraction of coal by cutting excavations called "rooms" using a continuous mining machine and leaving the remaining coal as "pillars" for supporting the coal seam. The FLUENT software was used to analyze the airflow in the mine whose structure was designed and meshed in GAMBIT. The analysis was carried out in four different stages. First, airflow patterns were studied in the roadway without any equipment. Next, a line curtain, which extends along the height of the coal seam, was simulated in the roadway to direct the flow of air towards the active mining face. In the third stage, a continuous miner was inserted between the mining face and the end of the line curtain. Three and six meters deep box and slab cuts were simulated and the airflow patterns were investigated. In the final stage, a wet scrubber was simulated as an integral part of the continuous miner and the effect of the scrubber on the airflow in the box and slab cuts were studied. Dead zones (areas with limited airflow) and recirculation areas were observed using velocity distribution contours. A parametric study was conducted to evaluate the effects of distance of the curtain from the pillar rib (Dcr), scrubber pressure (Psc) and height of the coal seam (Ho). The data were plotted as functions of selected dimensionless variables. It was seen that wet scrubber increased the air in the LOXC (Last open cross cut) by 7.6% and was also proved that extension of line curtain along with the cut. The results of these studies are being used to develop guidelines for dust control in the face area.
