The main sources of research are oral interviews, reports and infomation provided by the banks institutions. From these sources we tried to analyze the trajectories of these women, who changed from schoolteachers to the profession in the bank. What we realized is that the reasons which led them to go working in a bank when it was still considered as an environment of men , in the 1960s an 1970s, is part of a broader historical process, which culminated in feminization of the bank work profession in the 1980s. To understand this process, the first part of the research historicizes up banks during the 1960s, when they start promoting automation of its services and take the rationalization of work as a principle. Not coincidentally begin to admit the entry of women through public tender, labor work that would be required in the following decades by banks in general. In the second part, the work comes to memories, narratives and representations. The individual trajectories of five schoolteachers that became bank workers, the feminization of the profession and the career of four bank workers in a state bank are the paths of research. As will be seen, the analysis of the trajectories revealed continuities tied to traditional female occupations indicating deep gender inequalities in banking work. Thus, this research falls within the field of the history of women and gender relations, made from a reflection on the history of the bank workers. / O presente trabalho é resultado de uma pesquisa, situada no Tempo Presente, que teve como foco mulheres trabalhadoras bancárias entre as décadas de 1960 e 1980 no estado de Santa Catarina em dois bancos públicos. As principais fontes da pesquisa são entrevistas orais, relatórios e informações disponibilizadas pelos próprios bancos. A partir dessas fontes tentou-se analisar as trajetórias destas mulheres, as quais até então professoras normalistas trocaram a profissão pela de bancária. O que se percebeu é que os motivos que as levaram a ir trabalhar em um banco quando este ainda era visto como um ¿ambiente de homens¿, nas décadas de 1960 e 1970, faz parte de um processo histórico mais amplo, o qual culminou na feminização da profissão bancária na década de 1980. Para compreender este processo, na primeira parte da pesquisa historiciza-se os bancos durante a década de 1960, quando estes promovem a automatização de seus serviços e assumem a ¿racionalização¿ do trabalho como princípio. Não por acaso começam admitir o ingresso das mulheres via concurso público, mão-de-obra que seria muito requisitada nas décadas seguintes pelos bancos em geral. Na segunda parte, o trabalho trata de memórias, narrativas e representações. As trajetórias individuais de cinco normalistas que se tornaram bancárias, a feminização da profissão bem como a carreira de quatro bancárias em um banco público são os caminhos percorridos pela pesquisa. Como se verá, a análise das trajetórias revelaram permanências no tocante às tradicionais ¿ocupações femininas¿ indicando profundas desigualdades de gênero no trabalho bancário. Desse modo, a presente pesquisa insere-se no campo de estudos da história das mulheres e das relações de gênero, feita a partir de uma reflexão sobre a história das trabalhadoras bancárias.
