A ênfase às diversas formas de violação de direitos das mulheres relatadas por elas mesmas é ponto alto do presente estudo. Analiso também relatos de acompanhantes, em sua maioria também mulheres, e ainda da equipe de saúde mental, segundo fontes diversas (prontuários e depoimentos). Tanto nos depoimentos quanto nos relatos as falas das mulheres diagnosticadas com transtorno mental são deixadas em plano secundário, e geralmente, ignoradas. E, em segundo momento, debruço-me sobre as políticas públicas existentes para pessoas diagnosticadas com transtorno mental com interesse voltado às mulheres, sob enfoque da Constituição da República Federativa do Brasil de 1988 e da Carta de Princípios da Organização das Nações Unidas sobre a proteção das pessoas com problemas mentais (1991) destacando o princípio da dignidade e a necessidade do exercício pleno da cidadania às mulheres diagnosticadas com transtorno mental. / This work studies the treatment given to women diagnosed with mental illnesses in mental facilities, specifically, the women under treatment at Fundação Hospital de Clínicas Gaspar Vianna em Belém, Pará. It emphasizes the several ways of women‘s violations, whose own speeches were accounted for this work as a high point. It also analyzes the companions, most of them women, and staff‘s speeches, considering several sources (prompt books and testimonies). Both in testimonies and speeches, the women diagnosed with mental illnesses are normally despised, and, generally, ignored by government officials. After this, I dedicated myself to the study of public policies cut for these diagnosed persons with mental health. I also studied the Brazilian Federal Constitution (1988) and The Principles for the Protection of Persons with Mental Illness and for the Improvement of Mental Health Care(United Nations, 1991), highlighting the principle of human dignity, as well as the necessity of full exercise of citizenship by women diagnosed with metal illnesses.
