Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) is a chronic disorder characterized by primary symptoms of inattention, impulsivity and sometimes hyperactivity. ADHD children suffer not only from these primary symptoms, but also from secondary negative impacts including poor peer relationships, increased conflict within family interactions as well as diminished academic achievement and increased classroom disruptions. In order to target these concerns, a 12 week pilot Multifamily Therapy Group curriculum was developed for implementation in a social service agency setting with ADHD children aged ten to twelve and their families. Using the Delphi Method, a panel of experts evaluated the curriculum, treatment process, and modality applicability. Findings and recommendations from the expert reviews will be discussed. / Master of Science

Through countless studies, it became evident that what started as an animal made up of bones and tissues was really just the vessel for the animal's soul. Light is the soul of design. The program represents the tissue and bones of the animal that is design.In this project two paths were taken. The first being pragmatic, the design bound by the program. Where in the second, the concept, light, beats up the program and ultimately makes for an inspiring place to live.

Included in the discussion is the history of the market area, tools the City of Austin is using to promote infill development, the housing development process, financing of infill housing projects in Austin, a supply and demand analysis of the current market, and site selection theory and application. The author found that there is significant quantitative demand for a multifamily product in this market area and this report may act as a general guide to the process of bringing a multifamily product to market. / text

It is clear that affordable rental housing is needed, but much of what is getting built, especially in the high-growth West and South, gives rise to negative externalities based on the large number of units in the projects. This report looks at objections to large apartment complexes and makes the case for smaller-scale multifamily developments, studies how housing policy in the US has disadvantaged multifamily development, and investigates barriers to small-scale developments relating to mortgage markets, the Low Income Housing Tax Credit, and the models of nonprofit affordable housing providers. / text

Ranking of Mortgage Underwriting Criteria for Multifamily Rental Property

The 2007-2009 recession negatively impacted the global economy, especially the real estate industry and multifamily rental properties. Obtaining credit became difficult, real estate lost 41% equity, 223 commercial banks failed, and 3.2 million homes were in foreclosure. Grounded in systems theory, the purpose of this causal comparative study was to examine the impact of mortgage lender type on the average ranking of 8 mortgage underwriting outcome measures. For the study, 44 accredited mortgage professionals completed an online-survey. The results of the analyses of variance indicated a statistically significant (p < 0.001) lender type effect on credit score and loan-to-value ratio. Further analyses on credit score indicated a significant (p = 0.006) relationship between Category A and B lenders, Category A and C lenders (p < 0.001), and Category B and C lenders (p < 0.001). Further analyses on loan-to-value ratio indicated a significant (p = 0.017) relationship between Category A and B lenders and also Category A and C lenders with (p < 0.001), but the difference between Category B and C lenders is not statistically significant with (p = 0.063). The implications for positive social change include economic growth and expansion, as access to financing increases. Tenants in multifamily rental properties might also benefit from economic growth as the standard of living could increase when landlords initiate capital spending and development.
