Barnens rätt i vården / Children's rights in care

Hjelte, Elisabeth, Åkerberg, Malin January 2015 (has links)
When children are hospitalized, it is usually associated with insecurity among both children and parents. The pediatric nurse is required to work on the competence description for pediatric nurses and NOBAB standards to ensure that the hospital stay for the entire family will be as good as possible. The purpose of this study was to examine how nurses working in the children's section perceive that NOBAB standards are followed when children are hospitalized. The study had a descriptive quantitative design. The results showed that NOBAB standards are followed in part to the department. It was revealed that the nurses always encouraged parents to stay with their child during hospital stay. Nurses perceived that the children got to meet an unnecessary number of nurses during their stay and that this could be due to a certain lack of staff in the department. They considered that this could be improved if the organization around the children became more stable and the continuity of care will improve. A child always stays on the children's section at the current hospital except when specific treatment is required. Nurses perceived that the children and their parents were given enough information on their level. Access to play and school adapted for the child's age were deficient and nurses believed that play therapy and the school could develop. To increase awareness of children's rights and NOBAB standards in childcare needed for continuous research and education in order to highlight the best interests of the business.

Henriksson, Gabrielle January 2008 (has links)
<p>ABSTRACT</p><p>The Swedish parliament has ratified the UN “Child convention” and therefore the government must follow it in all questions that involve children. NOBAB: s standard is based on the child convention, and the purpose of the articles in the standard are to strengthen the rights of children and youths who needs professional care because of illness or sickness. During the last years primary care has taken over responsibility from child clinics for a lot of children, but the specific competence of children has not always followed. Therefore has NOBAB during the last three years run the intervention project “Secure children and youths in primary care”. The aim of this study was to describe which experiences primary care professionals have about child competence and about the intervention project. Eight qualitative interviews were made with professionals from two of the primary care centres that took part of the project, and the analyse were made by qualitative content analyse. The result revealed that professionals described different competences that they used to frame security and participation for the children, like pedagogic, social, experienced, formal and organisation competences. But there were also impediments for child competence within those categories. Experiences from the NOBAB-project were mostly positive. The project has improved the environment, new routines have been written, and the knowledge and consciousness about children have increased.</p><p>Key words: Child convention, NOBAB, Participation, Primary care, Professionals, Security</p>
