少子女化與臺北市大安區家長選擇英語安親班之決策行為 / The selection of bilingual childcare under the trend of low natality in Da-an district of Taipei City趙秋玲 Unknown Date (has links)
。 / In 2009, Taiwan was ranked the worst place in the world for its low natality. With rising expectation from parents on their only kids, we consider it a worthy topic to study how these parents decide Bilingual Childcare for their only children. This study mainly explores the key factors that influence parents in choosing Bilingual Childcare for their elementary school kids, under the commercialized trend of education.
This study uses half-structuralized interview in a qualitative approach and specifically samples 12 parents as interviewees.
The research discloses the following results:
1.There are big differences among their English weekly learning times, learning hours and monthly expenditures to Bilingual Childcare in the interviewees’ children. They have personal preferences for Bilingual Childcare.
2.Parents expect to equip kids with English proficiency by studying English as early as possible, taking initiative in learning English and keeping learning English.
3.Parents consider English crucial; good English ability benefits exams, further (graduate) studies, world view and competence in job market.
4.A good majority of parents can teach kids English, but they would rather arrange the best learning institute for kids.
5.What kids learn at Bilingual Childcare is way over what they get at school; parents regard friend or relative’s introduction and recommendation as an index in choosing Bilingual Childcare.
6.Preference in decision making: teacher’s stability and rich experiences, native speaker’s pronunciation, dividing class by individual’s level, using American textbooks, convenient transportation, suitable time, meeting individual parental needs, fair tuition, and a safe and spontaneous learning in a English speaking small class.
Researcher’s suggestion:
1.Parents should regard English as a foreign language. It’s hard to count all English learning on the Bilingual Childcare. Parents need to make it a rule for kids to listen to, read and speak English in their daily living.
2.Along with their growth and increasing pressure from learning, children need to learn how to strike a time balance among fun, assignments and tests so that their passion for English still remains.
3.In learning English, children needs encouragement and praises to nourish their self-confidence. Parents need to work out a proper learning strategy with their kids.
4.Whole language approach is a necessity for English teachers. Elementary school teachers need to show their profession and convince parents that school is nothing inferior to Bilingual Childcare.
5.School and parents should work together to give kids proper English learning resources, invite native speakers to give cultural guidance and let kids listen to and speak English at school.
6.Bilingual Childcare owner need to have good reports among parents so that they can pass a positive image of Bilingual Childcare to other parents.
7.Bilingual Childcare owners need to control the best quality of teaching, giving native speaking teachers a peaceful environment, generously employing American textbooks, meeting parental needs in transporting kids and making sure of safety and good learning.

POROVNANIE ÚROVNE PLODNOSTI VO VYBRANÝCH KRAJINÁCH EÚ / Comparison of the level of fertility rate in selected EU countries.Lešníková, Barbora January 2015 (has links)
The objective of this diploma thesis is on one side to analyze the fertility rate in Slovakia, Czech republic and Sweeden and to compare their development after the fall of the communist establishment from 1990 till 2014 and on the other side to categorize these countries to clusters of EU countries based on chosen variables using multidimensional statistical analysis. I consider the second chapter of the thesis, which focuses on analysis of intensity of fertility rate using direct standardization as well as on verification, whether connection between clusters of EU countries and their geographical location exists, to be my personal addition to the addressed issue. Based on my analyses, the conclusion of the thesis is a finding, that countries, which support reduced working hours have a higher total fertility rate. For that reason, if the natality is about to grow, it is a must to concentrate not only on states family politics but mainly to support the ability of young mothers to become part of a regular working process while on their maternity leave.

Metody analýzy sezónnosti demografických jevů / Methods of analysis of seasonality in demographyMyšáková, Gabriela January 2011 (has links)
Methods of analysis of seasonality in demografy Gabriela Myšáková Abstract The thesis presents statistical methods suited for analysis of seasonality in time-series. Three statistical methods have been thoroughly described, namely the time-series decomposition, the X12−ARIMA method and the cointegration of time-series. Further methods applicable for similar analysis have been briefly discussed as well. Three main methods have been subsequently applied to monthly demographic data for the Czech Republic and chosen European countries by natality, nuptiality and mortality. Seasonality has been discovered in all three demographic events and by using the time-series decomposition and the X12−ARIMA method for time-series lay out to separate units, and those progressions have been track by graphic and verbal interpretation. Cluster analysis has been applied to European countries nuptiality and mortality time-series in order to reveal similarities and dissimilarities among particular countries. All the methods were used onto data set by using appropriate procedures in statistical software SAS.

Previous issue date: 2018-03-26 / The objective of this dissertation is to evaluate the impacts of the introduction of a cash transfer for pregnant women in the design of the Bolsa Família Program (BFP) on infant health. In particular, I focus on the effects on birth weight and on the incidence of low birth weight, but I also assess the impacts on pregnancy outcomes such as the incidence of preterm births and prenatal care. The new benefit consists of nine monthly transfers which start to be paid when the woman is identified as pregnant by the health management system of the BFP, regardless of the stage of pregnancy at the moment of the identification. The empiracal strategy explores the fact that when the transfer was implemented eligible women at different stages of pregnancy were exposed to different income shocks before giving birth. Using administrative data from the BFP and from the Brazilian Ministry of Health, I create links between benficiary women and their children's natality outcomes. The main results show that the transfer had a positive impact on birth weight and reduced significantly the likelihood of low birth weight. I also find that higher exposures to the transfer during pregnancy reduced the incidence of preterm births. While I don't find significant impacts on the number of prenatal visits, the results show that the transfer reduced the likelihood of delayed prenatal care.

Plánovaná versus skutečná plodnost - dotazníkové šetření realizované plodnosti na vzorku žen v ČR / Planned versus realized fertility - a questionnaire survey of realized fertility of a small sample of women in Czech republicKlementová, Lenka January 2015 (has links)
The objective of the thesis is to compare planned and realized fertility of a small sample of Czech women with finished fertility. A questionnaire was used to determine both planned and actual number of children, their gender, birth order and spacing and the age of woman at her first birth and her marital status. The realization of these events was compared and the reasons for failure were identified. A sample of 47 respondents anonymously completed the two-page questionnaire comprising of four parts -- plan, reality, personal characteristics and additional questions. Additional questions were related to contraception, abortions, religion, etc. The survey showed average number of 2.34 child per woman, whereas planned average number was 2.28. Further, on average 53 % of women fulfilled their plans regarding number of children, gender and order, spacing, age at the first birth and age at the first marriage. Finally, the correlation between observed number of children and planned number of children was analysed based on gathered data. The resulting model showed that the planned number of children one corresponds with realized number of children 1.47.

Toxins and pollutants rarely come alone and studies about various toxic substances are often performed with only one substance at a time. There are studies that have examined different cocktails of substances, but sometimes it can be difficult to identify all sources that affect an organism. We have investigated how a combination of the herbicide Roundup and Food Safe polypropylene plastic affect the freshwater crustacean Daphnia magna. We found that Roundup causes 100% mortality before reaching fertility in higher doses, but that in small doses does not result in lower fitness compared to the control group, but even increases the initial survival rate when Roundup is added to plastic jars. A cocktail of Roundup and plastic resulted in a doubled development time for the eggs. Eggs from individuals in plastic jars also had a longer development time but there was also a much higher number of eggs from these individuals. Futiure studies ought to investigate the fitness of the offspring. Early in the study we discovered that there was most likely a third factor influencing the daphnia negatively, that could not be explained by plastic jars or Roundup, but one that we could not identify. Therefore, we also wish to urge that experiments can easily be influenced by unknown factors.
