The objective of this thesis is to reveal the perception of the Turkish contractors toward ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems using questionnaires. All of the companies participating in the survey have already been ISO 9000 certified. Thus, the questionnaire prepared included more details for the Quality Management System. The results of the questionnaire outcomes are statistically analysed. Analysis of the survey results show that the most common motivators of Management Systems for Turkish contractors are to qualify to tender for local and international projects and to increase competitiveness in overseas markets, however the vision approach of top management is not less important than the financial issues. Most of the companies stated that they implement Management Systems as a part of their improvement strategy as well. This proves that the companies are aware of the benefits of certification in the long term period. Although the most expected advantages of the systems are qualification to tender for projects both locally and internationally, as well as gaining competitive advantage, it has been observed that other benefits are realizedby the Turkish contractors such as / more systematic record keeping, higher company prestige, increased client satisfaction. The major disadvantages realized by practicing the Management Systems are increased documentation and workload. The solution is proposed as to set an internal network and to integrate the systems to reduce paperwork. In conclusion, all of the Management Systems were believed to be as useful tools and Turkish contractors think that their advantages overcome disadvantages.

OHSAS 18000 Occupational Health and Safety Assessment System Series have a special importance to mining. OHSAS standardization aims to provide secure, more tranquil and healthier working space to the employees by means of establishing an assessment system. As mining activities are generally carried out in high risk environments, OHSAS has been improved and has increased its importance for mining in the world. In this study, Bigadi&ccedil / Boron Work is taken as a case for the application of OHSAS 18001. Theoretical information about OHSAS and risk assessment is provided, and some exemplifying mines that implemented this standard are given to illustrate their benefits. All possible hazard sources are identified and a &ldquo / Hazard Source Inventory&rdquo / is proposed. Together with this hazard source inventory, a risk assessment method is developed for Bigadi&ccedil / Boron Work. Several tasks are evaluated according to this proposed form. In order to define policy, principles and structure of Occupational Health and Safety Assessment System, an &ldquo / OHSA Manual&rdquo / is prepared. Several sets of standard forms were prepared and recommended for Bigadi&ccedil / Boron Work. Consistency throughout the organization was established by means of these created standard documents, procedures and forms. Proposed Job Safety Analysis form can be used to identify, analyze and record the steps involved in performing a specific task, and the existing or potential safety and health hazards associated with each step. Several safe job procedures were also prepared with the help of the risk assessment process. In addition to this, an &ldquo / Emergency Plan&rdquo / is proposed for enterprise to prevent loss of life, property and information, and provide safety in case of any emergency or natural disaster. An &ldquo / OHS Audit Instrument&rdquo / is suggested for the Bigadi&ccedil / Boron Work that will play a key role for continuous improvement of the system. Audits are integral part of OHSAS in order to identify hazards, improve health and safety conditions, and check compliance with regulations. These studies also show that there are some problems in the implementation of the system. The main problem is ineffective data recording and keeping. Lack of consciousness of employees and low commitment of top management constitute another important difficulty. Although these problems are commonly encountered in practice, applying OHSAS 18000 standard is still worthwhile method of improving work environment.

A necessidade de se definir quais requisitos normativos são comuns a todos os sistemas implementados e quais devem ser integrados, além da identificação da situação atual da empresa em relação ao atendimento e integração destes requisitos, abre cada vez mais espaço para elaboração de métodos organizados para planejamento, execução e controle desta integração. Um dos objetivos deste trabalho foi inicialmente elaborar um método para diagnóstico do nível de integração de sistemas de gestão baseados nas normas ISO9001, ISO14001 e OHSAS18001 e a avaliação deste método através da aplicação prática em uma empresa do ramo metal-mecânico. Baseado no estudo de caso mencionado, foi possível identificar o nível de integração da organização em relação a 19 requisitos normativos comuns às 3 normas e após foram sugeridas melhorias para os sistemas da empresa. Com os resultados do diagnóstico e a análise de um caso de insucesso da integração de sistemas de gestão em uma empresa do ramo metal-mecânico, a dissertação apresenta como objetivo principal um método de integração de sistemas de gestão baseados nas normas ISO9001, ISO14001 e OHSAS18001. CoordenaÃÃo de AperfeiÃoamento de NÃvel Superior / O processo de implantaÃÃo de um sistema de gestÃo agrega valor à cultura organizacional, pois desenvolve competÃncias relacionadas ao planejamento e execuÃÃo das atividades, prioriza a capacidade de trabalho em equipe e promove a confiabilidade do sistema produtivo. Deste modo, uma das principais ferramentas utilizadas na polÃtica econÃmica das organizaÃÃes tem sido a implementaÃÃo de um Sistema de GestÃo Ambiental (SGA). Do mesmo modo, o crescente nÃmero de acidentes repercutidos na mÃdia fez com que as organizaÃÃes buscassem nos Sistemas de GestÃo de SeguranÃa e SaÃde no Trabalho (SGSST) o instrumento para alcanÃar melhores resultados na Ãrea de SST. O uso dos indicadores de avaliaÃÃo de desempenho auxilia as organizaÃÃes a quantificar e relatar o desempenho de seus sistemas de gestÃo. Diante disso, o objetivo desse trabalho foi propor um conjunto de indicadores de avaliaÃÃo de desempenho para os SGA e SGSST de uma empresa certificada pelas normas NBR ISO 14001:2004 e OHSAS 18001:2007, a fim de melhorar o desempenho destes sistemas, contribuindo com seus processos de melhoria contÃnua. Para isso, foi realizado um estudo de caso em uma empresa de engenharia consultiva, onde foram levantados os dados necessÃrios para viabilizar a elaboraÃÃo e proposta dos indicadores, atravÃs, principalmente, de entrevistas, aplicaÃÃo de questionÃrio aos funcionÃrios e acompanhamento Ãs auditorias realizadas na empresa. Desta forma, foram propostos 23 indicadores, sendo 11 para o SGA e 12 para o SGSST. Os indicadores propostos podem ser empregados em SGA e SGSST de empresas de qualquer ramo de atividade, por se tratarem de indicadores de fÃcil implementaÃÃo e controle. Com base nos resultados obtidos, verificou-se ainda a importÃncia que os funcionÃrios tÃm para o processo de melhoria contÃnua dos sistemas de gestÃo, a partir da realizaÃÃo da mediÃÃo do nÃvel de informaÃÃo que estes possuem sobre o SGA e SGSST, com a aplicaÃÃo de questionÃrio. Os resultados obtidos com esta mediÃÃo na empresa de consultoria mostraram que todos os nÃveis organizacionais desta empresa (estratÃgico, tÃtico e operacional) apresentaram desempenho considerado satisfatÃrio na resoluÃÃo do questionÃrio. / The process of implementing a management system adds value to the organizational culture, since it develops skills which are related to activity-planning and executing, prioritizes teamwork ability and promotes the reliability of the production system. Thus, one of the main tools employed in the economic policy of organizations has been the implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS). Moreover, the growing number of accidents broadcasted by the media has made organizations to seek in for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS) an instrument to achieve better results in the field of OSH. The use of indicators of performance evaluation helps organizations quantify and report the performance of their management systems. Therefore, the aim of this study was to propose a set of performance evaluation for EMS and OHSMS a of a NBR ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 certified company, in order to improve the performance of these systems contributing to their continuous improvement processes. With this purpose, a case study in a consulting engineering company was conducted, where necessary data to enable the indicators proposal and development was raised, mainly through interviews, staff questionnaires application and the accompanying of audits carried out in the company. Thus, 23 indicators were proposed, 11 for EMS and 12 for OHSMS. The proposed indicators can be employed in EMS and OHSMS of companies of any industry, since they are indicators which can be easily implemented and controlled. Based on the obtained results, it was also observed the importance that employees have for the process of continuous improvement of management systems, from the action of measuring the level of knowledge they have on EMS and OHSMS, with the application of questionnaires. The results attained with this measurement at the consulting company showed that all organizational levels of this company (strategic, tactical and operational) showed satisfactory performance in the questionnaire solving

Essas crescentes exigências promovem uma maior consciência dos gestores, que passam a compreender que o investimento em práticas sustentáveis está relacionado à sobrevivência da empresa. The aim of the thesis is a theoretical preparation of the company MPSJ spol. s r. o. to introduce the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS)in accordance with the internationally acknowledged standard OHSAS 18001. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with basic legislative requirements for the Safety and Health at Work, approaches to the Occupational Health and Safety Management, OHSMS standards. The practical part is rooted from the individual provisions of the Czech Technical Norm CSN OHSAS 18001:2008, verifies current status in the company and makes proposals for recommendation concerning the enlargement of the integrated management system so that the requirement of the Technical Norm have been fullfiled.

The theoretical part of the thesis deals with basic terms and importance of the Safety and Health at Work, legislative requirements for the Safety and Health at Work and approaches to the Occuptional Health and Safety Management System. The practical part is rooted from the individual provisions of the Czech Technical Norm CSN OHSAS 18001:2008, verifies current status in the company and makes proposals for recommendation so that the requirements of the Technical Norm have been fulfilled.

This diploma thesis deals with occupational safety standards in Foxconn company. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate current state of company management on the basis of existing standard and to compare both standards in order to make the new standard valid, better condition of occupational health and safety should be a result.
