Portable Space and Interior Design for Dentists

Liu, Yu-Ping 01 January 2007 (has links)
In the United State today, many people do not have access to adequate dental treatment, while tooth decay is the single most common chronic childhood disease-five times more common than asthma and seven times more common than hay fever. At the same time, studies show that 80% of dental illness takes place in 25% of the population, which is comprised mostly of lower socioeconomic groups. A study undertaken by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 2000, concludes that poor children suffer five times as much tooth decay as their more affluent peers. Furthermore, in poor children with tooth decay, almost 80% remain untreated. Poor dental health there-fore is a major health concern for under privileged families. The goal of this project is to enhance and facilitate the delivery of better dental treatment by designing a new prototype for a portable dental office that will be more flexible and more usable in a variety of situations and locations. For the purpose of this study, this prototype will be considered or tested within the context of three different types of spaces: the single closed room; a large open public space; and within mobile and nonpermanent structures such as tents. Several aspects of working conditions specific to the dental office will be taken into account when developing this design including transportability, degree of flexibility, storability, hygiene, and the creation of a relaxing atmosphere all of which greatly impact both the dentists and patients experience and are essential to the creation of a successful portable dental office.

A Narrative Herstory of Women's Studies at the University of North Texas

Cook, Charles 12 1900 (has links)
In the late 1960's the academic field of Women's Studies was created to give women a more equal education and a more accurate reflection of their history and impact on society. At the University of North Texas the effort to implement Women's Studies was not begun seriously until the late 1980's. This paper covers the effort to establish Women's Studies at UNT. My thesis is that this has been a grassroots effort led by professors and students who succeeded not only in establishing Women's Studies but also in changing the face and feeling of the University, creating a more positive environment for women. The bulk of the paper is made up of narrative selections drawn from oral history interviews with key individuals.

Gaybba, Solomon Godfried 11 1900 (has links)
The South African Post Office is investing large amounts of money in IT. Organisations were encouraged by the notion that investing in IT correlates with higher returns and the delivery of expected results by replacing the human component in organisations. The employment of IT within business has often resulted in the replacement of old problems with new and the expected business benefits of IT not realised. The primary research objective was to determine the relationship between IT expenditure and the financial performance of a firm. The secondary research objective was to explore the perceived value of IT investment in SAPO. / Graduate School of Business Leadership / MBL

Daňová kontrola / Tax audit

Václavík, Petr January 2011 (has links)
59 Tax Search - English summary The aim of this work is to describe the basics of tax search of Czech tax authorities in view of new tax procedure act, and jurisdiction. In 2011 a new Tax Procedure Act has come into operation. It affects all tax procedures including tax search. It has established new principles of tax procedures, and has also included some jurisdiction. However, it has also established some new questions, that must be sold by new jurisdiction. Tax search is a specific procedure how government, using its special agencies - usually Tax Authority Offices, monitors declared taxes. Sometime tax authorities think their work is so important that there is no limitation in used tools. Then a court must say there is a limitation not only in act but also in principles of good administration. Some of these opinions were included into the new act, some were left intact since government does not agree with them. Tax search must have its goal. According to Constitutional Court a tax authority cannot start arbitrarily but there must be some suspicions, and a prove of it. Tax search alone can be separated into 3 parts - beginning, process, and conclusion. All these parts have their guidelines. Especially at the beginning tax authority can start tax search in given time of 3 years, and whole tax search must...

Výjimky z patentovatelnosti z evropského, českého a britského pohledu / Exclusions from patentability - European, Czech and British perspective

Valešová, Lenka January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of the thesis is to analyse exclusions and exceptions from patentability which is a negative requirement for an invention to enjoy a patent protection. It aims to answer the question why the exclusions are needed and whether they should be preserved as some of them proved to be very controversial. The law and practice of the European Patent Office, the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom are compared with the emphasis on the European Patent Convention and the EPO's case law. In the national regulation, mainly the differences and peculiarities to the European approach are pointed out. The work is composed of four chapters. The first chapter explains the basic concepts of patent law and presents justifications for patent protection. The second chapter deals with various patent systems and reviews the most important international tools of harmonization. In the third chapter, the exclusions are introduced and the distinction between Article 52(2) and (3) EPC (exclusions) and Article 53 (exceptions) is clarified whereas it is submitted that the difficulty posed by the exclusions lies in the interpretation of the words "as such" used in Article 52(3) EPC. The main focus of the thesis lies in chapter four which is subdivided into nine subchapters, each discussing one of the exclusions and...

The objective was to describe the extent of congruence among important variables in the organization's system framework. This document includes a detailed description of the FISC Det Philadelphia system. Data were collected through interviews with key personnel and employee surveys. Data were analyzed to determine the congruence of the variables that make up the system (inputs, design factors, and outcomes). Conclusions as to the strengths and weaknesses of the organization were drawn based on the analysis of the variables. Recommendations were made on how to improve the areas identified as weaknesses and capitalize on those that were found to be strengths to revitalize the organization. The thesis also provides an example of how systems thinking can be used to perform a strategic analysis of an organization. Seeing the system as a whole through a comprehensive analysis of the key variables allows us to understand the impact of our changes as they relate to the entire organization. / Civilian, Department of the Navy
