The Development of a Prediction System for the Occurence of Law Violations on the Ogden Ranger District, Weber County, Cache National Forest, Utah

Harris, John Henry 01 May 1970 (has links)
The primary objective of this study was to develop a prediction system for the occurrence of law violations on the Ogden Ranger District, Weber County, Cache National Forest, Utah, whereby the existing manpower and equipment may be used as effectively as possible. In an attempt to develop the prediction system, 13 variables were chosen that were felt to be related to the occurrence of law violations. These variables consisted on nine weather variables and four use related variables, Of the original 13 variables, 12 variables were significant. The most significant variables that accounted for the greatest portion of the variability of the occurrence of law violations were directly related to the level of use. The prediction system developed in this study is not a usable tool for the resource managers of the Ogden Ranger District because it accounted for little more than chance alone.

Occupational Survey of Ogden City With Implications for Vocational Education

Blaser, LeRoy A. 01 May 1944 (has links)
One of the most striking characteristics of society today is the marvelous development that is everywhere manifest along industrial lines. In nearly every department of industry the simple processes which formerly prevailed have become differentiated into a great variety of activities, and all have been organized into a definite system. Methods of exploiting the earth in search for raw materials, processes of manufacture, and modes of distribution and exchange have become wonderfully complex. The influence of this change is far-reaching. It permeates every phase of life. It operates in the church as well as in the state, in the home as well as in the school.

History and Function of the Pep Club at Ogden High School

Case, Helena B. 01 August 1946 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to determine the functions of the Ogden High School Pep Club in the light of the present needs of the Ogden High School student body, and to attempt to show by means of an historical resume, the progressive development of this organization. The Pep Club was founded at Ogden High School by persons who felt that there was a definite need for such an organization. The club was organized to meet the needs of the student body, and as the years passed, these changing needs were reflected in the club, for the club adjusted accordingly. Today the activities are more diversified than those of a few years ago; therefore the program should be adjusted and developed so as to be of greater value to the students in secondary schools.

Children of the Depression: A Study of Children in 169 FERA Families Ogden, Utah, 1935

Lillywhite, Leah Plowman 01 May 1936 (has links)
Today the under-privileged are by no means confined to the mentally and physically handicapped. Since 1929 the number has greatly increased because of our faulty economic and social organization. Many healthy men who are both able and willing to work have been forced into idleness because of inabilitiy to secure a position. Extension classes in "Mental Hygiene" and "Social Case Work" conducted under the direction of the head of the Sociology Department of the Utah State Agricultural College during 1934-35, decided to make a study of conditions actually existing among Ogden City's victims of the depression, with particular emphasis on conditions affecting children. Are they well housed? Do they have adequate medical care? Are they well served by the communities' education, religious, and recreational agencies? Are their emotional lives standing the strain well? This study is an attempt to obtain reliable information on these and other closely related questions.

The Economic Impact of Hill Air Force Base on the Ogden Area

McConahay, John D. 01 May 1955 (has links)
The people of Utah saw the first federal military installation established in the area almost a century ago. They were not pleased in 1857 when they heard that President Buchanan was sending some 2500 soldiers to set up camp in the Salt Lake Valley. As the troops approached the Territory, every available means was used to resist their advance. Trenches and other defenses were prepared and all forage burned on the routes to the Valley to hamper or prevent their approach (17, p.303). When the troops arrived in 1858 they were permitted to enter the territory of Utah without further resistance. But an express condition of the peaceful reception was that their camp be established at least 40 miles from Salt Lake City (17, p.308).

An Evaluation of the Beginnings, Purposes, and Influence of Drama in Ogden from 1840 to 1900

Oaks, Harold R. 01 January 1962 (has links) (PDF)
During the latter half of the nineteenth century Utah was undergoing physical and cultural colonization. Four months after the first Mormon pioneers arrived in the valley of the Great Salt Lake, the site of Ogden city had been purchased from Miles Goodyear. The city developed slowly during its first twenty years, but when the railroad joined at Promontory Point in 1869, Ogden became the junction of East and West. The city experienced a peculiar economic and cultural boom not known elsewhere in the Mountain West or along the railroad due to the predominately Mormon population which now was imposed upon by the non-Mormon railroad and business interests. This thesis investigates theatre in Ogden before and after the introduction of the railroad, examines the pressures of the conflicting ideologies, and demonstrates the results of these pressures in the theatrical activities of the city.
