Alves, Mariana Carareto. January 2017 (has links)
Based on these circumstances, this study aimed to discuss the challenges faced by organizations in its relation with the society, considering the scenario in which the social media enlarge the possibilities for the individuals to respond before organizational attitudes and its impacts. To this end, it was performed an analysis of Samarco comments and posts on its Facebook page after the dam disruption in Mariana (State of Minas Gerais, Brazil), based on the Social Response System (BRAGA, 2006), which considers that individuals are stimulated and respond to information they receive through media processes. As methodology, three procedures were chosen, a bibliographic research, which was part of the theoretical fundamentals, reflecting upon the organizations responsabilities in the society (GRAYSON; HODGES, 2002; SROUR, 2013), social media potentialities and possibilities (JENKINS, 2009; JENKINS; FORD GREEN, 2014; LÉVY, 2002; LUVIZOTTO; SERIDÓRIO, ... The Role of Collaborative Leadership in Arizona's Subsidized Child Care Stakeholder Network

January 2010 (has links)
abstract: This research project provides a unique perspective of the role of the concept of collaborative leadership between the Arizona Subsidized Child Care Program and its key stakeholder network. The process involved was to frame the research and its findings using the Team Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire's (TMLQ's) Assessment Scales. The research project sought to explore whether collaborative leadership in the policy-making process between the Arizona Subsidized Child Care Program and its key stakeholders actually does exist and, if so, to what extent. The research questions for the dissertation are, as follows: (1) What leadership styles does the Arizona Subsidized Child Care Program, through its various managers, exhibit and are these styles truly collaborative?; and (2) Are the leadership relationships between the key child care stakeholder groups and the Arizona Subsidized Child Care Program actually collaborative? The study employed a mixed-method approach (both quantitative and qualitative research methods) by means of an online survey, interviews, and document analysis. ii Based on this study's findings, the program exhibits collaborative leadership concepts with its stakeholder network. In addition, a positive correlation between the use of collaborative leadership concepts and participant perceptions of satisfaction, extra effort, and effectiveness was documented. / Dissertation/Thesis / Ph.D. Public Administration 2010

The dynamic effects of leader emotional intelligence and organisational culture on organisational performance

Bipath, Minnesh 30 June 2007 (has links)
The topic of emotional intelligence (EQ) and organisational culture has attracted considerable interest from both academics and practitioners for many years. Much of the interest in the two areas is based on explicit and implicit claims that both leader's emotional intelligence and organisational culture are linked to organisational performance. However, while the links between emotional intelligence and organisational performance and between organisational culture and organisational performance have been examined independently, few studies have investigated the association among the three concepts. This study examines the nature of this relationship and presents empirical evidence that suggests there is a complex relationship between emotional intelligence, organisational culture and organisational performance. The study concludes with implications for theory and practice. / Graduate SBL / D.B.L.

Evaluating Organizational Democracy

Tavares, Kelly de Oliveira 12 1900 (has links)
xii, 79 p. : ill. (some col.) / In this study I propose a framework to assess democratic practices in non-profit organizations. The purpose is to identify actions that strengthen empowerment, examine how they are applied in the managerial and educational practices, and determine the outcomes for participants and stakeholders. I developed an assessment protocol based on organizational democracy principles through an examination of peer reviewed literature and field observations. I applied the resulting evaluation framework in a case study of Juventud FACETA, a program at the Amigos Multicultural Services Center, an organization that has sought to incorporate democratic practices in their mission. This study will be useful for 1) testing a formulation of criteria to examine and develop democratic practices in organizations and 2) designing a piloted evaluation protocol that can be used to assess organizational characteristics and actions that yield democratic empowerment outcomes among organization constituencies and staff dedicated to these principles in action. / Committee in charge: Dr. John Fenn, Chairperson; Dr. Doug Blandy, Member; Dr. Deborah Jonhson-Shelton, Member;
