En webbportal för kursrapporter, kursvärderingar och kursresultat

Danielsson, Maja, Englöf, Oscar, Hellström, Erik, Wirén, Christian January 2020 (has links)
A course evaluation is a survey sent out to all students after they have completed a course at Uppsala University. The objective of this survey is to allow the students to state their opinions of the course and give the course coordinatior an apprehension of how the students have perceived the course. This information can later be used to take necessary measures to increase the quality of the next instance of the course. The course coordinator compiles the students' opinions from the course evaluation together with their own opinions and analysis about the course instance into a course report. All the course reports are uploaded to a website called Medarbetarportalen but they are stored in an unorganized directory structure and there is no way of searching for a specific report or other information about a course instance. Moreover, students are only able to read the course report from an instance of a course that they participated in.  Making this information easily accessible would be beneficial for the evolvement of a better education. We have therefore created a portal which makes it possible for students, course coordinators, director of studies, education prefects and other employees at Uppsala University to easily find information regarding earlier course instances. This information consists of course reports, course evaluations, avarage grades as well as the number of students registered on the course instance. The portal also offers an easy way for course coordinators to write course reports.  Both through user testing and continous communication with employees at the IT institution the system has gotten positive feedback and the result was a working and useful portal with good requisites for further developement and launch by Uppsala University.

Trends in Hospitalization, Acute Kidney Injury, and Mortality in Patients with Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis

Devani, Kalpit, Charilaou, Paris, Jaiswal, Palashkumar, Patil, Nirav, Radadiya, Dhruvil, Patel, Pranav, Young, Mark, Rockey, Don C., Reddy, Chakradhar M. 01 February 2019 (has links)
Goals: The purpose of our study was to evaluate trends of hospitalization, acute kidney injury (AKI) and mortality in cirrhotic patients with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP). Background: SBP is a frequent bacterial infection in cirrhotic patients leading to increased morbidity and mortality. Materials and Methods: A total of 4,840,643 patients hospitalized with cirrhosis from 2005 to 2014 were identified using the Nationwide Inpatient Sample database, of which 115,359 (2.4%) had SBP. We examined annual trends and used multivariable mixed-effects logistic regression analyses to obtain adjusted odds ratios by accounting for hospital level and patient level variables. Results: We identified a striking increase in hospitalizations for SBP in cirrhotic patients (0.45% to 3.12%) and AKI in SBP patients (25.6% to 46.7%) from 2005 to 2014. Inpatient mortality decreased over the study period in patients with SBP (19.1% to 16.1%) and in patients with SBP plus AKI (40.9% to 27.6%). Patients with SBP had a higher inpatient mortality rate than those without SBP [15.5% vs. 6%, adjusted odd ratio (aOR): 2.02, P<0.001]. AKI was 2-fold more prevalent in cirrhotics with SBP than those without SBP (42.8% vs. 17.2%, aOR: 1.91, P<0.001) and concomitant AKI was associated with a 6-fold mortality increase (aOR: 5.84, P<0.001). Cirrhotic patients with SBP had higher hospitalization costs and longer length of stays than patients without SBP. Conclusions: Despite a higher hospitalization rate and prevalence of concomitant AKI, mortality in patients with SBP decreased during the study period. SBP is associated with high likelihood of development of AKI, which in turn, increases mortality.

Das Thüringer Flurnamenportal: ein Werkstattbericht

Aehnlich, Barbara 17 August 2022 (has links)
Field names are used to designate uninhabited areas in a local district such as forests, fields, meadows, mountains, rivers and lakes and all the other natural or human-influenced features of a landscape that people use to orient themselves there. As such, they are a part of people’s regional identity and serve to establish their identification with the surrounding cultural landscape ; they are linguistic relics and provide important historical testimony of a region. Field names in Thuringia have been collected and evaluated in more than 100 years of research conducted there. Since 2019 the holdings of the Thuringian Archive of Field Names have begun to be digitized, and a Thuringian Field Names Portal is being developed. The article is a report on work in progress and presents the Thuringian approach to the digital processing of the region’s field name heritage and to field name research based on citizen science.

Effects of Gamification on Speed and Accuracy on an Interdependent Paper Sorting Task

Tinkle, Davis 01 May 2015 (has links)
This study examined the effects of gamification, i.e. (what makes games challenging, engaging and fun), and its effects on speed and accuracy on an interdependent paper sorting task. Undergraduate students (N=42) at the University of Central Florida participated by working interdependently in groups to sort numbered pieces of paper into piles before and after either playing video games or doing back-to-back drawing(basic team building exercises). It was hypothesized that participants who played video games would sort pieces of paper into the piles faster and more accurate than those who did back-to-back team exercises. Results showed that playing video games was not better than doing basic team exercises, but that the two tasks were relatively equal. Although groups were formed and dissolved quickly, there was improvement between the pre and posttests. While the experiment did not yield significant results, it is possible that using different video games or different interdependent tasks could foster increases in speed and accuracy compared to back-to-back drawing.
