Syftet med litteraturstudien var att beskriva hur patienter med cancer som får palliativ vård upplever sin livskvalitet fysiskt, psykiskt och socialt. Sökningar genomfördes i databaserna Medline, Academic Search Elite och Cinahl samt manuellt. Sökord som användes var quality of life, palliative care, palliative treatment, cancer, advanced cancer, hospital och home care. Detta resulterade i att nitton vetenskapliga artiklar valdes ut till studiens resultat. Resultatet visade att en obotlig cancersjukdom försämrade livskvaliteten hos patienterna. Fysiska symptom inverkade negativt på livskvaliteten ur ett fysiskt perspektiv och det vanligast upplevda symptomet var smärta. Ur ett psykiskt perspektiv upplevde patienter, inskrivna på en palliativ vårdavdelning, en generell förbättring av livskvaliteten. Patienter som vårdades i hemmet upplevde en ökad känsla av trygghet vilket höjde livskvaliteten. Det fanns ett starkt samband mellan depression och livskvalitetsvariabler. Kontakt med andra personer och hög kompetens hos personal var grundläggande för att patienterna skulle uppleva trygghet och god vård vilket förbättrade livskvaliteten ur ett socialt perspektiv. Ljus och luftig miljö på avdelningen samt möjlighet till kontakt med naturen var faktorer som inverkade positivt på livskvaliteten. För att få en djupare kunskap om vad begreppet livskvalitet innebär för varje människa som drabbas av en obotlig cancersjukdom är de viktigt att mer kvalitativ forskning genomförs.   Nyckelord: Livskvalitet, cancer, palliativ vård

Background: Palliative care is something that all people should have the right to be allowed to, to be able to enjoy the qualities of life, even when someone has been afflicted with illness that cannot be cured. How do the nurses in municipal home-care deal with and prepare themselves to perform a righteous task? Aim: The aim of this study is to illuminate nurses, comprehensions of palliative care within municipal home-care. Method: The method is a questionnaire to nurses. Results: The results did comply to law and regulations. The feedback we got from the respondents were that they wanted, and nearly always may be available when needed by the patients within palliative care, and support their next of kin. What was demanded by the respondents was supervision, but it is mostly impossible referring to economic reasons.

In the palliative care there are many close encounters between the care-taker and the care-giver. To be touched is foundational to every human being and the care-giver shows his presence to the care-taker, when he touch the care-taker. Touch is an important tool for the care-giver in the care for the care-taker. It becomes a natural way of communicating. The aim of this literature study was to describe which factors that are important, for the care-taker in the palliative care, to receive touch in the purpose of feeling well-being. The scientific articles were found by using "Academic Search". "AMED", "Cinahl" and "Science Direct" data bases. The results show that there were three factors that can help care-takers in end of life care, communication, safety and a good environment. Which leads to the possibility of touch for the care-taker This way helped the care-taker to a higher well-being and quality of life, since they're sense of well-being often were low and influenced they're quality of life. Touch can be used as a complementary therapy, the care-taker felt more pain-relief and less anxiety. They also felt more well-being and a higher quality of life, which were important for these care-takers at the end-of-life.
